First car my friend had we did a gear swap for the first modification. His dad always said a gear swap was 'cheap horsepower'. Woke that 318 right up lol
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
I totally agree! Definitely woke it up and is way more fun to drive now! Should have came this way from the factory!

where do I find a complete differential like you did?

I’m not sure if I should go with 3.55 or 3.73 gears. I’ve been reading about it and there’s so many mixed reviews. I do have 20 inch wheels, so 3.73 might be better. What’s your opinion? I’m sure you did your research too.
@BoostedMotorsports6 жыл бұрын
Do the 3.73!!!! With the larger wheels you end up effectively reducing the ratio back down to about 3.55 anyways. It feels way better with these gears and how it should have come from the factory!

Boosted2k that’s what I figured but wanted to hear it from you. Thanks brotha!!

They Vipers not fast enough? You plan on racing a Jet?
@richardhampton21907 жыл бұрын
What kind of Hp you pushing? I have a little over 600 prob a little more soon but wondering if I should go from stock to 3.73 or 3.55. I read they go through gears too fast with 3.73 but my last car had 700+ and 3.73 did well
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
richard hampton I'm probably sitting at around 500 with bolt ons. I think you should be fine with the 3.73 I love it personally and think it's how the car should have came. Check out this video of the car at the drag strip you can get an idea how "quick" the shifts are but you should be fine. Let me know your thoughts after you check it out 👍 kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqW6k4SupZehh6c

I did this job already on GTS, wish i had this video prior! How long did it take you from start to finish?
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
I ended up splitting into two days cause I was waiting on new Spicer U-Joint straps to show up and I also took extra time cleaning and degreasing the old diff and cover to swap over. I'd say doing it on the floor like this is probably a half day job taking your time. How long did yours take?
@TOTjaybin7 жыл бұрын
Shoot man a good 8 hours! I am still a rookie. I bought a hydraulic lift for my garage though so i think these jobs will become easier. YOUR VIDEOS ARE GREAT- keep it coming
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I need a lift like you haha! Just posted up a regular maintenance video and coilover adjustment. I finished up the billet sway bar mounts, billet steering rack mounts last weekend just editing the videos. Underdrive pulley should be going on this weekend too!

How hard is it to install lowering springs?
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
I would do coilovers instead of springs. Its actually easier to install coilovers since you dont need a spring compressor and the ride quality will be much better. I installed BC racing coilovers and the ride is unreal. Check out this video at 5m17s where I show how easy it is to adjust ride height with these: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2bUkqWhbMimn6Mm17s

how much is it expected to decrease your top speed by? def post a review on this. may be a mod in my future. thanks for posting!
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
Dan DeLuca Hey Dan! It actually doesn't really affect top speed! If you look at the top speed rating for the car from the factory they hit the "200mph top speed" for the viper in 5th gear. You still have ALL OF 6th gear!!! So if you are worried about top speed it doesn't really make a difference and will be limited by HP NOT gearing :)
@2000ViperGTSsubscribe10 ай бұрын
It depends how car is modded. I am running 1100HP at engine, 950 RWHP and it would take mine down a bit. Stock I agree with OP's response, in 5th will top out regardless stock, on heavy mods 6th.

Did you ever get a review of the diff?
@jordankehoe45524 жыл бұрын
Was wondering the same thing. I couldn’t find one on his page.. was kind of thinking about doing gears in my 2000 ACR but having trouble finding video reviews

lsd included?
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
It came complete but it only has the upgraded stronger carrier bolts and uses an LSD similar to the stock unit. General consensus is that upgrading to an aftermarket LSD is a better option!

You're car must be a beast with those gears 😈 did you have to recalibrate the speedometer ? Or was it not necessary
@BoostedMotorsports7 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is WAY better with the gears I love it! I haven't corrected the speedo but it is off quite a bit. Its reading about 10mph higher at 60mph.
