Kim Hye Seong (btw, Hye is pronounce like hey but without the y, not hi) is a very good discounted pickup. Adding from the things that DMAC mentioned, he rarely strikes out. Not a power hitter but base hitter, which isnt a bad thing. Stupid fast and base stealer. Another super utility player. This was a very good pickup and agreed, unexpected. The only KBO player to win Golden Gloves at SS and 2B, and he hit nearly .330 last year. Also, had seven straight seasons of 20 plus stolen bags on average... stole 30 in 2024, and has one of the lowest strikeout rates. The Korean Luis Arraez but better defensively with speed lol. Solid signing
@EddieHersh3 күн бұрын
Why am I always educating the ignorant? The Golden glove award in the kbo is not given for Fielding at all- in fact, it is more of a most valuable player award given to a player at each position who usually hit the best at that position. Furthermore, the last time Kim played any appreciable time at shortstop, which was 2021 (wonder why), he statistically had a horrible year defensively akin to when Lux tried to play shortstop last year. Kim is absolutely not projected to be a major league shortstop, so please get that out of your head.
@slashismyhommie81823 күн бұрын
Let's wait to see his bat, just saying. Japanese hitters seem to have been getting better, but Korea my humble opinion I see some starting pitchers breaking through but few fielders actually break through. That guy in SD comes to mind, but there's few others that come to mind. But let's see, I'm down, let's go and see how he pans out.
@EddieHersh3 күн бұрын
The KBO is at a level somewhere between AA and AAA at the minor league level of US baseball. Hitting .330 in the KBO doesn't mean all that much. I can guarantee you he won't be hitting anywhere close to .330 at the major league level. Plus his defense at least at shortstop is totally suspect. He does not project as a major league shortstop.
@slashismyhommie81823 күн бұрын
@EddieHersh I am well aware. Japan is known as AAAA, KBO has a number of competitive pitchers, but as I said non pitchers the bats don't always translate. I think it's a safe investment for the Dodgers either way. Like I have stayed in other comments, not sure about this one, but we will see.
