Dear Girl from Busch gardens, April 16, 2019, I was waiting in line for the swings. Staring at my phone. My hair in a messy bun, wearing a crop top and ripped jean shorts. I was with my stepmom. You were about 10 people in front of us in line, wearing a camo shirt and black lace shorts. You had short dark brown hair and freckles. You tapped me on the shoulder and I looked up from my phone. “You look gorgeous today” you said. “Uhh, thanks..?” I said, not knowing how else to respond. You sat in front of me on the ride and I stared at you the whole time. Later we were in line for Verbolten. Same distance between us in line. My mine jumped back and forth between going and saying thank you for real or leaving it. I chickened out and left it and told myself I’d find you after the ride. You went on before me, the little red car zoomed away and I never saw you again. I looked for you all over the park for a good 40 minutes. I regret not saying thank you, I regret not telling you you looked gorgeous too. But it made my whole week and I still think about it. So thank you.

I came out to my parents in October, and they eventually got tired of the relationship I had with my best friend on the 9th of November. They handed me the phone and told me to cease the relationship. We still talk, and I still love her to pieces, but things have changed, and I don't like that change. It's harder to make her smile and laugh, and we feel like giving up most days - but we never do. I'll always be there for her, even if she doesn't need me. This song has done nothing but help me toughen up and be the best I can for the sake of the two of us, and I appreciate that so much. It's a beautiful video, song, and I think I may have found my new favorite artist, too. Just wanted to say how thankful I am for both this video and my lovely partner, even if she isn't mine to keep. I first heard this song September 8th, 2018. I had just had my heart broken by a guy I thought was better than he was, and my friend who broke my heart two years before had just gotten off the phone with me. My Spotify was on shuffle, and my laptop was on a page of the book I was writing. The guitar of the beginning of this song was playing, and the song that fit my emotional state had been found. I knew, in that moment that I wasn’t alone and I could get past this block. Thank you, Dodie. Without this song, I wouldn’t be where I was today. I’m almost done with that book, and I can’t wait to get it published.
