I love Doenjang jjigae-- I've made it once a month, every month over the last few years. My husband dumps his rice in the bowl in one go and I tend to go between rice and soup in separate bowls. I go between an authentic recipe and one where I find myself adding a few deliberately unconventional twists depending on what I have in the fridge that needs to be used up. I tend to add chunks of white onion, courgettes and I add bean sprouts too, if I have them to use up. It's such a great stew, I loved watching your method...see what I can change up again. :D

This stew is great for Vegans too. Just don't add any meat and to make sure to add the mushrooms, whichever type you like to the stew and it taste almost as good. I love meat, soo, That is why I say it will taste ALMOST as good....

I bought another small container of doenjang. The first time I bought and tried it, I didn't like the taste of it at all. I made doenjang jjigae and shared my experience with Korean group by adding mushrooms. The people in the group tore me apart with offensive comments. Saying that that is not doenjang jjigae. I am willing to try again. Thank you for the recipe. Americans try .........we don't need to be insulted. Thanks again for posting the recipe.

I love your channel! I wonder if you could help me. I’ve been to Korea many times for work and I remember sitting around a grill at the table and the made a chicken dish, my memory is fuzzy (too much soju), but at the end they took the remainder and created an awesome stir fry with cabbage and rice cakes. I’ve tried to find it here in America and the closest I come is recipes for dakgalbi. Does anything I say ring a bell? If you know of what I’m asking, I’d love to see a recipe!

The earthenware is from Hankook Dojagi (hankookchinawareusa.com). They have several version of quality pots. You may not find the exact design I have because this one is very old. But, I also have a couple of their Line Pot series, which I really like. Hope you check them out.

What brand of Daen jhang do you use? Also, are you using regular vinegar or rice wine vinegar?
@koreanbapsang68352 жыл бұрын
I give different options in my Korean Pantry Seasoning Ingredients post on the website. For vinegar, any clear vinegar works. I usually use rice vinegar for Korean cooking.

I just made it, you cut the radish into another half, which I didn’t. My stew tasted a bit bitter, do you think that is the reason for it?
@koreanbapsang68352 жыл бұрын
No that shouldn't be the reason. It's probably the radish itself. Radishes can be bitter sometimes, especially out of the season.
