Not all situations have to be self defense. It could be agents work (though it's rare to see them WITH a whip) and they need to take down a certain target, possibly too dangerous for combat alone. Plus it's easier to take down a target in sneak attacks due to their relaxed position they can't take a hit. The muscles aren't tough enough to take full on hits in their relaxed state rather than their alert state. Also they could be harming someone else thus needing to take the attacker down to protect the victim (unless it's a criminal of course) Jesus, I made this comment response too long. Oh well.

@@Mixwell1983 Quite true. From owning one I can confirm, the swing back is slow and there's a technique to using them. A:) striking with the tip hurts WAY more than hit with the body of the cable and B:) you cannot wildly swing with them, it's not a baseball bat, lol. It must be treated more like some swords, with a lot of your power being gained from forward, snappy momentum. I've found keeping your strikes out in front mostly is the most effective and shorter swings, otherwise it's too unruly and slow, yeah. A knife would be more effective/versatile, yeah.

Pain compliance is generally not the most reliable for self defense. But honestly after one full force whipping from that thing, I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people would be rethinking their life choices. If someone is threatening you, ask them nicely to stop. If they don't, hurt them nicely and ask them to stop. If they still don't, hurt them BADLY and make them stop.

If you get hit anywhere else, yeah, you REALLY do not want to get that in the face, they hurt, a lot. It's made many a tough Yotuber writhe in pain and they leave huge red welts on the skin. I own one and just a mild, maybe 30% strength hit, on the back of my leg with thick jeans on and I had a sore spot for days. There's a technique to them though to maximize pain. Hit with the end of the cable, not the body. The body acts like a limp stick and just doesn't pack that kind of wallop this is capable of. Just like a real whip though, get 'em with end and Ooooouch!

Fun fact: Things like this were used in the fourties by SS Camp Guards, either as a simplified version of the one you use, or a spring-like one. Wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of any of those.
@robertcorbell10063 жыл бұрын
Yes. They were used by the kapos, or trustees. They'd give prisoners sentenced to the camps on murder and insanity charges the same rations and separate cots as a soldier would get (a big deal compared to sleeping on boards and being fed a single bowl of broth a day if lucky) in return for beating up weaker prisoners and keeping them in line with such whips. The psychos usually felt like they won double (although the real nasty ones got sent to the penal brigades to fight the Russians).

These things are actually very effective and hurt a LOT. But there's a technique to using them. Try hitting with the tip/end rather than the body of the cable, it stings a lot more and leaves nasty welts and can break skin. When you hit with the body of the cable too much, it acts more like a stick but worse, lol.

"Does a tactical whip really work?" That depends on what you define as "working". Will it break bones and kill? No. Will it hurt like absolute hell and make 99% of attackers stop attacking you? Yes. Also, it doesn't necessarily need the tip to be the point of contact. Even if you hit half way down, the tip will whip/wrap around and still hit the target very painfully.
@pika20043 жыл бұрын
Just use a knife tbh it’s easier
@KurNorock3 жыл бұрын
@@pika2004 That is illegal in some places. Also, you should be carrying a gun, AND a knife, AND some sort of reach weapon such as a "tactical whip" or a club/baton. Because no one weapon is best for all instances.
@pika20043 жыл бұрын
@@KurNorock it’s not if for self defense
@KurNorock3 жыл бұрын
@@pika2004 Wrong. There are many places where carrying a knife for ANY reason is illegal. Some states in the US ban the carry of knives. Others ban knives over a certain length (usually 3-4 inches) while other ban the carry of concealed knives while allowing the carry of knives that aren't concealed. Then there are other countries (such as the UK) that ban the carry of knives with the exception of "non-locking folding knives with a blade less than 3 inches long". And you need to have a "good reason" to be carrying the knife if you are stopped by the police. And still other places might allow you to carry a small knife, but will NOT allow you to use it for self defense.
