I put in a couple hundred hours...could have been a great game IF they had left in the survival aspects....IF they had any confidence in the players. this dumbed down version should have had more POI's to make up for the lack of meaningful exploration. At least they didn't pull a BG3 and add nudity to get upvoted.

...meh I'd rather have official mod support on consoles. -But we all know why it's taking them so long; they're still fine-tuning how they're going to monetise their mods. I'm expecting either: A) We'll have to pay a monthly subscription fee to access mods (with bigger, officialised 'partner programme' modder's mods costing the same amount as DLC packs a piece.) B) Mods will have to be uploaded by the creators (no more asking for permission to port to console), and the modders will get to charge what they want per mod, and Bethesda will take a percentage of that as a commission. Will be dark times indeed...

There was an intentional bombing of the game when it first released. It was planned originally, and out in the public that it would be bombed in protest no matter how the game was. I enjoyed the game. The thing is the best advice someone can give you is to NOT explore, and only go were the game hints you may find something interesting, because then you're going to find at least 50 hours of good content. Maybe not great, and maybe "mediocre" instead of "good", but rarely bad. It is intersting, and unlike some people want to make you believe, if you play the game that way, the gamw is not repetitive. It is a good game, but like 6/10 or 7/10 kinda good. It feels outdated, it is not worth buying at full price or current discount prices, and it has performance issues that are so bad that, at that point, anyone with a PC than can run Starfield should be playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor or any good game that is hard to run instead. I mean, I have a 4080, and I enden up using PureDark's Frame Gen mod on day one of the early access, which is funny because a single person was capable of implementing DLSS3 on day one, but it took Bethesda I don't know how many months to do the same thing. Am I hyped for the DLC? No. I paid for it, and at one point I was interested in knowing more about that universe, but right now? Not at all. I'm probably not going to play it, actually, and take this as a lesson for the future. I'm not a kid anymore. I'm a 29 yo programmer, and honestly, I care a lot more about the my time than the money I spend in games now, if that makes sense. I'll rather spend $70 in 20 hours of fun than $10 in 100 hours of mediocre content. Having free time is what's truly expensive.

I had never played a Bethesda game before this. I found the first 20ish hours I was more or less having fun, but the longer I played, the less fun I had. By the time I hit the 60 hour mark, having two of the 4 main side quests locked out due to bugs and finally experienced the games big reveal I realized that I simply couldnt have cared less how the game ended and just stopped playing. Starfield overall (for me) is very mundane and outdated. Everything in the game feels...old and uncharismatic. I hate even just talking to people as they always have this static, immersion destroying way of talking to you. I think my biggest issue is the lack of any kind of exploration. I think this game would have been infinitely better if it had a handful of designed planets where you could physically travel from one to the next instead of this expanse of nonsense procedurally generated barren planets with reused based over and over again. You brought up Cyberpunk in a way to say that this game could be redeemed. The big difference between Cyberpunk and Starfield is that Cyberpunk had an incredible game hidden under the bugs. A world that is actually engaging, with wonderful characters you want to interact with and a top tier story. Phantom Liberty also did an excellent job at expanding on the main game and bringing everything full circle and realizing its potential. Starfield simply does not have any potential. There just isnt a game under the hood that they can improve as so many of the core issues are baked into the game (like the loading screens you mentioned for example). So, to answer your question, no, I 100% dont care about the Starfield DLC. In fact i literally cant think of any game release I would care LESS about than anything dealing with Starfield.

Where do I start dismantling your view and other Bethesda Skyrim and Elder Scrolls fans? First I want to let everyone know that I have never played a Bethesda game. Because I don’t care about swords and horses and bows and arrows. And I definitely hate with a passion 1st person view. When I play a game, I never compare it to another game that I have played before. I am looking for something new and fresh with different experiences. I have been waiting for Starfield since 2018 but It felt like I was waiting all my life for a game like this. First let me explain that 95,000 negative reviews is nothing, when you compare 10 million players according to Bethesda. Another thing that I need to point out to you is that console Xbox players, who don’t have the means to buy a PC or hate to play on a PC like me. We do not care what steam or PC players reviews have to say. Through out your video you reference of Skyrim and that you’re hoping that next elder Scrolls is not like this when you’re comparing these games to a new IP. There are only four reasons why you would hate this game. The first reason would be that you have a 15yr old PC And you hate the reason that the game is not running good on your PC. Second reason would be that you want Starfield to somehow be exactly the same as Skyrim or another Bethesda game. The third reason would be you hate space you hate exploration and if you don’t know the game because you want the game to be exactly like Skyrim then you’re lost and so you hate it and you hate the loading screens. The fourth reason is you are a KZbinr who do not want to spend time on a game that’s so large and you find it difficult to find content. Big thing to take away from here is. If you’re looking for a Skyrim game or elder scrolls, game or a fallout game. Do not buy Starfield!!! Wait for Elder scrolls in 2036, which probably is another reason why all of you guys are upset because they didn’t make this game sooner. You should be happy that people like me who are new to Bethesda. Enjoy this game so much. I have put 2300 hours and I haven’t even finished the main campaign, and it’s because I don’t want to. I’m having fun exploring, which is what you guys say that it’s boring. Yes, to answer your question. I’m looking forward for the new DLC. And yes, this game had flaws. But every game has flaws and we shouldn’t be comparing one game with the other game just because you’re upset that you didn’t get elder scrolls. I even think that Todd even said that you guys who are negative have so much unrealistic expectations. That came from him. One last thing, the majority of players in the whole world play on console. Third world countries who make up the largest areas of the world don’t buy an expensive computer to play games they buy an Xbox or a PS4 because it’s inexpensive. so when you say steam reviews are so upset, you’re only talking to a certain percentage of the population not the majority. I am a fan. And I believe this is a good game. My setup in my game room is Xbox series X and a 75 inch LG C2 tv in front of my leather sofa. This game looks and feels great!! By the way I wanted to add that I have PS4 and PS5 and I purchased an Xbox series X just for Starfield. That’s how dedicated I am with this new IP from Bethesda and unlike other haters, who think that we won’t get content in the future. You are wrong! We will get content. This game is a masterpiece, and I’m so sorry you guys cannot see it.

Thanks so much for bringing up the reasons why people may like or dislike this game, and the overall picture beyond one platform! Not every game is for everyone, expectations are so often overblown. @jamesbooth33606 ай бұрын
I think, after a couple hundred hours, Starfield is just a canvas with the scene sketched on it. The size, sound effects, visual art, and existing mechanics provide the core dynamics. The issue is that it lacks a cohesive experience. I hope they can continue to invest in fleshing out this game environment. Hopefully, they will remove a few issues like wokeness, companions with a common morality, and 'go fetch' quests. It would be much better if quests were congruent with player goals other than $ & xp like new ship modules, unique outpost habs, blueprints for gun and suit mods, and formulas & recipes for chems and food.

And as for TES6, i hold out little, to no hope for that game when it releases in 2029, because, it'll be fostered by Todds lies and Bethesda's shortcomings. PS: Todd stole my DLSS, along with other graphical settings, just to appease a deal with AMD. I'll pirate every other BGS game from now on

@boredpangolin2553 no you can't, you pick a landing site on a map and you're transported by cutsceme. In no man's sky you can go from orbit to the ground seamlessly. If you fly towards a planet in starfield you'll get there eventually but you just clip through the planet. People have tried.

I think the problem with Bethesda is a combination of factors. They've always IMO, been making digital theme parks with RPG trappings. Their worlds aren't cohesive, their characters more often than not function as mascots to deliver side-quests and their gameplay is limited with more simplification with each new title, only delivering the bare bones of interactivity within the Gamebryo Engine. And for a long time, that was enough for their player base. Add the fact that they were using pre-established franchises as a base, and the players could forgive the jank and lackluster design. But Starfield is a completely new IP with all the same issues as previous titles. It doesn't have the pre-established fanbase to defend it. So all there is, is whats on display. Its planets are derivative, its story is hackneyed and contrived, and its quests are lacking and its new mechanics get thrown out the window after you step into NG+. So what is there to defend? Add in the fact that in the same year it launched, you had titles like Cyberpunk and BG3 delivering better RPG experiences and it makes Starfield look like a relic from a decade ago and Bethesda so behind the times as to be antiquated and deluded by their former popularity. Elder Scrolls 6 might draw people back in - purely through Grandfather Clause - but it'll be a title viewed with a lot more scrutiny I daresay. Bethesda rested on their past glories for too long and now suddenly people are actually paying attention.
@GameListPlus6 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree with you on all this, my hopes are still up for ESVI. That's not to say I think it'll ever achieve that glory of Skyrim. They would truly have to be working with a new system. Which they claimed years ago they are... Full redesign... Non "Creation Engine". I'm hoping it's true and they redeem themselves.

@@GameListPlus A mix of combat (space and ground), ship building, and as weird as it may sound repeating radiant missions off of mission boards to grind xp and collect contraband. Using this method I can tell what ships have contraband and are worth boarding for extra loot.

@cerebralhawks45446 ай бұрын
I like Starfield, and I have close to 400 hours in it. I agree with most of the criticism - I can't find a lie in what people are saying about the game - but I personally enjoy it. There are a lot of bad things I could say, and I try to report the bugs as I find them on Bethesda's own Discord server. The problem I have, and I think a lot of us are starting to face, is that eventually the game is going to run out of content. But I can't talk about how without spoiling it. So if you haven't gotten to the end of the main story, if you haven't done the big fight at the Buried Temple on Masada III and you haven't built a thing and tried to warp... you have been warned, stop reading now. So anyway, for those who have completed the main story, you know that it loops. And after your sixth loop (your seventh universe), your ship stops getting better. And, assuming you got all the Dragonborn shouts... er, sorry, Starborn powers, in each universe, after your tenth loop (your eleventh universe), there is simply nothing more for you to do. It won't matter what they add. Sure, I might want to do it ONCE, but ten times? Like say they add a 25th power. Now I have to go through ten MORE universes to maximize that power. How about NO. So, whatever they add should add content for sure, but it shouldn't be another iterative thing you have to do a bunch of times. But I will say this for the loops: it got me thinking. Thinking about what I will do in my final universe, when I get all my powers to 10. That'll be the universe that "matters" to me. The one where I decide on one companion to marry. The one where I make my forever ship and outpost and stop jumping and say "this is it, this is the one that actually matters." All the other choices in all the other universes don't matter, but this one does. No take-backs (though, you can always jump and start again). So, with that being said... what does that say for how we approach real life? We're in that final universe now. If Starfield intended to show us this, I'd say it's earned its price tag and my faith in Bethesda was well placed. Honestly I do think there were some good ideas in Starfield, but I'm not sure the game overall makes any one cohesive good idea intentionally.
@Dennis-nc3vw6 ай бұрын
It is fun. Most people are too snooty to admit it, but while it's tremendously bad for an 8 year effort by the same studio who made Skyrim, judged on its own its still an entertaining, 8/10 kind of game.
