An ex-girlfriend of mine said about grunting: "It's as if you burp and then say: Huhuhuhuh, I just sang a song!" She's an EX-girlfriend for multiple reasons, and this narrowmindedness most certainly is one of them. It's fun to see that opera singers and vocal coaches (Maggie Renée, The Charismatic Voice etc.) analyze metal songs and really get emotional when listening to this genre of music! The lyrics often are incredibly deep and touching, and the musical composition often is just absolutely perfect to move the correct emotions in the strongest way possible at exactly the right moments. And of course it's just lovely mindless loud agression, which also can be awesome from time to time! But the most mindless metal usually still is much deeper than the vast majority of pop songs these days.

I remember a few years back on a Dutch talk show there was an item about how a Dutch celebrity liked metal. At first I thought is was gonna be cringe because the usual "HoW cAn YoU lIkE metal comments" and the first few clips were Rammstein and Metallica, which all pretty surface level stuff. But then they went on to show bands like Gojira and Meshuggah and the host of the show even made a comment about how virtuosic some of these musicians are followed by a clip of John Petrucci playing the solo of Stream of Conciousness. Still cannot believe we had fucking Dream Theater and Meshuggah on Dutch television with a host that actually asked interesting questions about what is so appealing about it.

What did you say their name was, dear? I have to look more into this.' 😂 Proof that more people could love this genre if they actually gave it a try instead of deciding they don't like it based on stereotypes! “Its just nois-“ A shotgun is a smoothbore firearm (without rifling cut into the barrel to spin a projectile), designed to fire “shot,” or small, individual pellets (typically made of lead or steel), rather than a single bullet, as is the case with rifles and handguns. The first firearms used in the way we think of shotguns today were smoothbore muzzle-loading muskets in the late 17th century, which people sometimes loaded with shot and used for hunting birds. These “fowling pieces” gradually morphed into dedicated shotguns by the late 18th century, and the shotgun “shell” or self-contained cartridge was available by the latter half of the 19th century. It had: Outer hull, usually made of plastic, with a rimmed, brass or steel base Primer contained within the metallic base, to ignite the powder charge when the primer is struck by the firing pin A charge of gunpowder contained in the metallic base A felt, paper, or synthetic “wad” and/or shot cup over the powder A payload of shotgun pellets (commonly called “shot”), buckshot (larger lead balls), or a slug (a single large, metallic projectile, sometimes enclosed in a fiber or plastic sheath or “sabot”).

The GN show is a weird one here in the UK, people over 50 really like this show. Its an hour or so of Celebs trying to be as 'real' and 'funny and relatable' as possible. There are so so many interviews where the celebs are just awkward and for the sake of trying to be the most important person on the sofa. Recently Kate Winslett had a whoe skit about her nearly shitting herself. The crowd loved it. But it was just weird and awkard af. Margot being an Aussie did well to bat off the stupid GN mentality of being the most interesting person on the couch. Most of his interviews go like this where one quiet reserved celeb will kinda' take the back seat while the older A listers talk and talk and talk and will even talk over the likes of someone like Margot during her segment to get their 'humour' across.

Do you imagine being as famous as Hip f*** Hop or K-Pop stars and still make metal ? Not that Hip Hop is a bad genre, on the contrary. But the main difference is that the intensity we know as metalheads is unreachable if you're just another rock / hip hop star with only fame to look up at. Metal is Music at its best because it is just music. Most of the time. And the fact that it's the opposite of a kind of a so called elite is the best thing that could happen. Fame is not music. Money is not music. Metal is Music.
