DOES BEAUTY REALLY COST ONLY $2 ??? Very Old and Rusty Fireman's Axe || Restoration

Another fire axe restoration project. The last restoration was really good, I think this one is even better. I did them with the same technique and in the end almost the same effect was achieved. But I like this way of combining oak and plum more.
Of course, leave a comment and say what you think about all this.
The manufacturer of this axe is unknown, nothing is written on it. I bought it at a flea market for only $2. I asked some connoisseurs of old things and they told me that it is over 50 years old.

Very nice again! The polishing is excellent and that speaks volumes of how well you sanded it prior to polishing! The handle came out great and really adds to the project. That $2 dollar find is worth much more now. 👍🎥 Roger

My man Taylor, how are you? I'm glad you like it. Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it. Antirust is the most common, the cheapest that can be found in my country. Since I have been doing restorations, I have tested them all, believe me, there is no difference. It doesn't matter the manufacturer, it doesn't matter the price, everyone does the job. At least I didn't notice any big differences. Even if there is a small difference......it is not worth spending so much money on well-known brands (three times more expensive). The items should never be kept longer than two hours in antirust, it corrodes the metal. Thank you for watching and commenting.

What is the point in soaking it to remove the rust when you grind the whole thing down later?

Several reasons: cleaning with antirust is much easier, almost no effort needs to be invested, and then less "work" remains on the files, brushes or sandpaper. If the rust is cleaned with antirust, the files suffer less and remain cleaner, so cleaning them is easier. I know from experience that rust damages files more than just filing. If it is cleaned with anti-rust, you can immediately see the flaws or maybe some holes if they exist. They are first repaired by welding, bending, straightening, and then we move on to the filing stage. Quality files are very expensive, so they should be preserved as much as possible. The same applies to sanding brushes or sanding paper. Much more of that material will be consumed while the rust is removed. I buy the cheapest antirust, and it has almost the same results as some expensive or branded ones. I hope I have explained to you a little what it is about. Should you use antirust in these situations????? My answer: definitely YES.
