hey you can pick up a thermal camera cheap nowdays, be good to see heat spectrum, ck res/tube sockets n stuff, just a fun idea maybe

It may well be beyond the scope of your channel, but it would be very interesting to use the spectrum analyser to compare the output of a Fender Deluxe Reverb to the Tonemaster digital version of the Deluxe reverb, or a similar pair of valve and digital amps of the same family.

The spectrum analyser is going to be a rabbit hole! Essentially showing the frequency mix that makes up the output waveform - so depends on the amount of distortion dialled in. Is it correct to assume bias affects all frequencies equally? If bias affects the gain structure at different frequencies it would affect the tone considerably when playing?

Chris, thanks for the insights into amp circuits and measurement. My favourite guitar effect is delay, rather than reverb or tremolo. So I am interested to know if you Can you design an analogue delay circuit into an amp? And, if it’s possible, what potential compromises could arise from such a design? Cheers

Thanks for answering my question Chris, much appreciated! I'll have to order a few more sizes of those strain reliefs instead of filing the whole bigger like I've been doing :S

Just curious...do you watch other amp tech channels like Psionic Audio or Brad's Guitar Garage?

I have a pretty sizable cache of axials that I've saved up over the years, and I always test the ESR before I ever install an elco, but I'll readily admit that the quality and smaller size of current production radials has made a believer out of me. Leo Fender might not have stamped out the doghouses if he'd had some of these available back in the day...

On the subject of capacitors. I saw a video of someone cutting open a Weber can capacitor the other day and was surprised to see that inside were three cheap axial capacitors. Is this common practice these days?

Unless I missed it, you failed to mention that too cold bias may result in undesirable crossover distortion. Do you think tubes will become unavailable sooner than axial caps? Edit: I'm a fairly new subscriber from Houston, Texas. Your weather updates showing rain are nothing compared to the wind and rain I videoed from a direct hurricane hit on Monday. Glad to have electric power, after only 13 hours in the dark and heat!
