If Blizzard were firemen, they would first roll out when half the town is on fire. So they can shut more fires down in one sweep.

Actually the guys who run the bots are in league with some of the Wow Police. Same way the government lets certain drug runners sell if they give them mid level competition and problematic small fryies. Benefits everyone. In fact I bet the guys that are giving a cut to the WoW police are given a heads up so they know when its coming so they can maximize profits. Prove me wrong :P They ban in waves because its easier to regulate the economy, same way the government changes interest rates once per season.

The WoW police are in league with some of the botters. They get a cut of gold sales and tell them when the bans coming so they can dump the gear and items. The police look like they are doing their job. Let me put it this way. It is more profitable for Blizzard to let the botting and gold sellers run rampant than pay the maintenance and security team more money who can actually adapt with the botters. They have sales graphs and game life cycle charts that say so and if the shareholders are content then anyone who could kick some butts into gear and get this fixed cares ZERO fucks because they are not commissioned based or ever really getting a raise because its a 20 year old game.
@lordcarl3094

Do you know how very easily this can be fixed? For example the crocodiles can't reach a flying player, normal players can't fly. Solution: if the crocodiles can't reach the attacking player for 1 minute they start flying towards it. For the ppl at Blizzard this would take like 5 minutes to script... And every other problem like this can be fixed easily. For any players who play normally it doesn't matter that the crocodiles can or can't fly and the crocodiles are not going to fly if the player is on the ground, so ppl who play normally would never see the crocodiles flying, not even if they can kite them. Or obviously they can just run back to their starting location, full heal and negate all damage like non Raid mobs if the player gets too far away. I have a feeling that there are ppl out there who would do this for free, the opportunities for solving cheaters are literally infinite, like the mobs could just shoot acid if you are above them, standing in the air above Xm(not mounted) could be lethal etc etc etc. Here is something that's not easy to script: an NPC that hunts cheaters by teleporting to their location and constantly fighting/killing them. I doubt that its impossible, but very hard to make. That would definitely make these ppl go crazy... and on that point ban becomes pointless anyway.
@niaford690
@niaford690 4 жыл бұрын
@@lordcarl3094 with the flying crocodile fix, that's just a bandage over the problem. it doesn't actually fix much. and while the NPC killing 'cheaters' would make sense, coding it to recognize cheaters from actual players has too much possibility for backlash by it hitting normal players just doing their thing. by defining 'cheaters' from players, you're building a playstyle that is the norm, and one that isn't, then the cheater playstyle. playing efficiently could be mistaken for botting, when it's just efficient. what's the fix? well, in classic normal players can't fly. because the terrain was not finished before release. they should work around that. if a player is falling for more than 3 seconds, and is not falling at a fast rate of speed, and their client is responding, they are flying, rather than just bhopping or losing connection.

This is one of the deciding reasons that i quit classic back in December. I enjoy min maxing, i had great fun with that kind of mentality applied to my old obsession. Farming DM tribute on my hunter alt just to fund my expensive boomkin raiding, flasks, major mana pots etc - it felt cool to have put in the time and then be rewarded with a steady stream of gold (i leveled a hunter for the sole purpose of getting me gold). But then i started to realise that most of my guild mates were just buying gold.. Raid logging and buying gold. Meanwhile I'm over here spending all this time to be optimal with a pretty bad spec, while our mages are offline 6 days of the week just to pop in, buy gold for flasks and shit on my efforts. This is far from the only reason i quit the game, but the sentiment that this KILLS the integrity of the game resonates with my experience in a big way.

As an adult, I also HAD to buy gold when I returned because I couldn't keep up with a full time job and the wow grinds. Within a month I realized the game just isn't for me anymore. Wow wasn't even challenging me anymore, Instead it was boring me with it's redundancy. I've since jumped to Tarkov and think it will soon be the next big game. I enjoyed Wow more than most games from Vanilla to BC, no need to fall for another waste of time nostalgia trap.

Some of the people I raided with in classic namely the mages, went really hardcore early to farm gold, and various mats early so they could raid log earlier. I mean even on my warrior/pally combo I was farming elemental earths and bought them in the MC/PVP patch when they was less than a 1g for when AQ comes out. Same thing with mats for shadow protection pots. Since early BLW I have more than consumes to raid on two toons until about 3 months after Naxx drops. I might need farm more when it comes to Naxx, because Naxx is straight up harder than AQ 40 even if everyone has world buffs and consumes. For while I haven't had to farm that much late. My main is my pally, my warrior is my only other 60, I will level bit on my alt mage and hunter which are both above 35 for professions, but really don't have the drive after leveling probably the two worst classes to level, but the two I enjoy the most at end game. Out side of raid nights I only play about 2 hours, part of it is buying cheap herbs and craft them into pots to sell, same with various tailoring gear that still sells since people are still leveling alts, then me maybe doing few quest or runs on a alt, or hoping on the warrior to save my pally buffs to run alts. Reason why I am not more active, is due to boredom. About the only thing could do outside of leveling alts is get rank 14 on the warrior. The reason why I am still some what active in the guild outside of raids, is because few people in the guild I generally like and count them as friends, rather than "the friends" you just play/raid with. Sidenote I might end up selling off alot of my mana pots, and dark runes for my pally since with my spell crit and mp5 is pretty nice i rarely use them. Only when we do try for speed clears I need them. For the easy bosses and trash I have high mp5 and crit gear for so I don't have to drink that much, and switch gear that has more healing on it for harder hitting bosses.

Blizzard's integrity has been downgraded through the years. Especially after Mike Morhaim left Blizzard, it was Mike's vision that the blizzard steam engine was going to a positive route. But gradually after he left blizzard, its like corruption only began to seep through it. Blizzard was run by a group of people who love thier job, love what they are doing. Seeing it in this pitiful state is just staggering...

@@Nighttimeqt1 Lol wtf you are on? Metzen was never the CEO, he never could have sell it, because it was never his. Mike had the company and he went public in 1994 to find investors, part of Blizzard was sold then, then it was changed by hand to hand ending up at Vivendi who sold it to Activision, at that point in 2008, they had no choice, they were sold. In 2013 Activision bought out the rest of the stocks.

@rickroll9705
@rickroll9705 4 жыл бұрын
Won't solve the issue still. It will drop bot numbers maybe but the bot could simple buy the token for them the issue is the banwave time for classic. Gold is the main currency in classic whereas retail has several like manapears, echos, Island expedition coins, resources etc thats why tokens worked like a charm in retail. Blizzard attacked this kinda of system in several fronts there. And you dont really need gold for anything there all the gold you need to raid and m+ just flows passively to you. Classic? Basically if they don't ban it in shorter bute more frequent waves botting will still be a problem.
@Wheezyp
@Wheezyp 4 жыл бұрын
It also gives them an easier path to a more profitable botting giving them more incentive to expand bot farms... but hey blizzard doesnt care they probably got their dirty little fingers on the underground gold market aswell.
@nickjensen7031
@nickjensen7031 4 жыл бұрын
@DanielLHumphreys A minimum price is not set in practice by the wow token. You can check retail wow where it is true that there is a price for gold introduced by the wow token, however if you look at the price of the gold sold by the gold sellers, the price is often significantly lower than the wow token, thus the "artificial" limit imposed by the wow token really has no effect.

This was one of the things that made me hesitant when it came to playing classic. Blizzard just released it to get money and weren't really going to do anything with it outside of it's phase schedule. It's also why I don't have high hopes for a re-release of Burning Crusade. Everyone wants it either for the nostalgia or for the ability to clear content they didn't get to originally do in it's original form. Fact of the matter is Blizzard hasn't cared about the player base in years

This idea that Blizzard has no care for community is so fucking old and beyond dumb. Fact is, when something you don't like happens, or when something someone you like (such as this guy) doesn't like something, you tend to blow it up bigger than it really is. Blizzard made huge steps to fix issues, despite the community screaming about no changes in Classic. Blizzard has also been super reactive to community feedback in regards to Shadowlands. They haven't always shown to be all for the players opinions/personal interests, that true, but half the time the players are selfish and unrealistic. People tend to focus on just the bad things someone does, and ignore all the good. I agree on calling Blizzard out of their failings, but again the idea that Blizzard hasn't cared about their players is so god damn dumb.

Difficulty finding groups isn't a new issue, dungeons were hard to find at release of classic as well. If you didn't tank or heal, obviously your chances were much lower, but if you're DPS and not a mage? Go quest. It's basically as impossible now for anyone to find dungeons under level 40 tho that's for sure.

8:14 i didn't realize that this would/could be such a huge problem for me. I've leveled a hunter in anticipation of tbc classic, found me some people who were similarily hyped and did some nice dungeons with them while leveling even got my dragon leatherworking to 290. I was lvl 53 when prepatch hit and some guy in my guild used his boost on his lvl 6 hunter. he proceeded to get the av win weapon and outperformed me in dungeons. people in my guild were actually kinda celebrating they didn't have to buy any non-flying mounts because the phase hunter adapts to your riding skill. i quit three days later. now i know that my char is probably fairly unimpressive to any "serious" wow player, but everything i got i have worked for and i was proud of my accomplishments. If i would put on my tinfoil hat, i'd say its kinda funny how blizzard now benefits of the general acceptance that success can be bought even in classic which was originally created by the botting epidemic.

I agree with you Zack. This report button, function we have in the game is useless. I reported player 3 times (level 60 rogue) who farming in Azshara for last 3 weeks looks like non-stop and nothing, guy still there killing mobs. And as "pro" Diablo 3 player I can tell it's same issue with botting in D3. You invest a lot of time farming and get your rank at the end of season and then you see person above you on leaderboard who was banned (he told me) but still on leaderboard. It kills your motivation to continue play the game

totally agree, instead of really cracking down on botters they've ruined the experience for those who farm HOJ, SGC, and other rare drops that need them for raiding. As a druid, there are weeks during progression (or if I'm cat dps'ing) e.g. the 40 Druid raid which we did yesterday. Where tons of MCPs (Manual Crowd Pummelers) need to be farmed and a 30 instance a day limit can either ruin the farming when drop rate is low or potentially ruin me doing a dungeon on another alt... It's not supposed to be like this...

You feel like that, because it is. This rushed change has much bigger consequences than some people realize. The economy heavily relies on some farms. And speciifc bis items for some classes require a lot of instance farming in a short time. They lockout fast and just wait 40 minutes for them to reset, because everything else is not worth the time. Can aswell play a toon while waiting for lockout. Now you can miss a raid because you misscalculated your Savage Gladiator farm. You can do 5 instances in 15 Minutes as Heal/Warrior. And the warrior also drags another player into his mess, because of how limited they are in using instances. Herbs and Crystals are already at a high price, even those that are farmed in masses by people running DM east or maraudon. And the market is still in demand!

to be fair there is a good reason why they ban bots in waves, its because if they banned you right away upon detection bot developers would have an easier time reverse engineering how Blizzards detection system works and what actions/aspects of the bot led to it being discovered and banned. If you ban only in regular pre-set intervals, there is a much bigger range of things that could have given it away. That being said, they should have these ban waves happen more regularly though, doing a wave once a month would vastly improve the situation while still keeping some amount of obscurity to how blizzards detection system works in the background

For some reason this video has triggered my imagination so if you want to read an analysis about Blizzards approach to handling botting, and why a company like Blizzard may not view bots as purely negative for the game read on. This is mainly because I want to get this out of my head and into words. Note: This discussion will be in reference to botters / hackers who bot for money, not for fun, that is a different discussion. There is a point that hasn't really been discussed in the video about Blizzards approach to bot banning and that is the profitability for Blizzards by having the botting accounts active. The net positive effect of botting for Blizzard comes in two forms, the direct and indirect forms of income. Direct Income: For each botter there exists a subscription. Blizzard wants Classic WoW to generate as much revenue as possible, therefore if botting didn't have any negative side effects then Blizzard would not ban any bots. This point may seem trivial but it is important to note that this incentive exists for Blizzard to not implement the harsher "private server" methods of dealing with hackers / bots. Indirect Income: Why do people bot? Because it earns them money. Why does it earn them money? Because they are providing an in-game service for people who want to buy their services with real life money. The simple fact that bots exist is proof that not everybody in the classic community wants botters gone, or rather they don't want the services they provide gone. If there was no demand for their services the bots would not be there. From Blizzards perspective these services may prevent people who would quit without them from leaving due to the required time investment it would take to earn in game. The combination of these two sources of income allow for a unique perspective for Blizzard on bots: Bots allow Blizzard to outsource an in-game shop to players in the world of no-changes. Obviously this isn't as effective as selling the products directly to the consumer, but direct to consume sales aren't allowed in Classic due to no-changes. Essentially, level boosting and buying gold (and therefore nearly everything else in Classic) can be thought of as being franchised out to botters for $14.99 a month from Blizzard. So where are the downsides of allowing bots? Community sentiment. This argument is pretty obvious so I'll keep it brief. As Zack said in this video the existence of bots devalues in-game achievements for players. That is essentially the whole argument but the end game for Blizzard is loss of subscribers. Community sentiment goes down, people quit the game, make less money. Having said that community sentiment is a resource that Blizzard knows you should tap into to extract profit. If community sentiment was a holy grail they wouldn't have an in-game shop in retail at all. It's a balancing act of extracting as much money out of that pot without killing the whole ecosystem. So with the pro's and con's from Blizzards end laid out we can discuss their current strategy towards bots and understand what they may do in the future. Blizzard has the incentive to allow as many bots as possible before community sentiment reaches a point where you lose more subscribers than how many bots you have. Much like how Zack describes the B.E.P. for botters on his main channel Blizzard has a B.E.P. with the number of bots and community sentiment. However, there exists a zone where botters get to exist thereby generating money for Blizzard and providing services for the game while not pissing off the community enough to have a loss of community sentiment. This level is more difficult to calculate than the B.E.P. for bottings because the community sentiment fluctuates wildly, so you would need a flexible method that you could apply when needed. So what is this method? Ban waves. Ban waves perfectly encapsulate this philosophy. You can apply them when needed allowing for a decrease in bots, a gain in community sentiment, but not punishing enough to scare away botters completely. Oh and you don't have to pay dev's to solve the root issue (if you do want to solve it at all). The ban wave philosophy applies to all companies that have a benefit from allowing botters to play their game, so what is the problem with Classic WoW currently? It's too profitable for botters. Why is this the case? Massively low barrier to entry: Compared to BfA or other AAA games the price to play Classic WoW is tiny. Remember that all botters have to risk is the cost of the game. In the case of Classic WoW this is only the initial subscription fee at the start of each month. Huge demand: Due to how much of Classics power is locked behind gold there will always be a market for gold farming in Classic. So how do you "fix" the issue? Make it less profitable for botters. Botters should not be viewed as players of the game but as online economic agents trying to make money. When you are trying to remove botting from your game you should remember that you are not trying to make it a perfect system, this would be non-profitable, all you need to do is make it so that the return for the botters is comparable with other online money making options aka botting in other games, mining bitcoin etc. The reason you want it on par is so you can tweak your system only a small amount (ban wave frequency) in order to change botters behaviour. Less frequent = more money, more frequent = higher community sentiment. Two main philosophies to approach bot profitability: decrease the value of the service, or increase the risk for the botters. Decreasing the value of their service: These are the classical approaches to dealing with bots and have many forms. This simply means that the amount of gold that bots produce is less and therefore decrease the value of the service that the bots provide. We have begun to see Blizzard implement this strategy with the changes to the number of instances you can enter per day. Another approach is to simply ban some of but not all the hacks. So if the flying hack used dramatically increases the profitability for hackers you would ban people who used that hack specifically. However, again this seems to take work on Blizzards behalf so it hasn't been implemented. Decreasing the value of the service of the bots generally goes hand in hand with gameplay as bots can only do what normal players can do, excluding hacking, so following this philosophy for bot reduction generally affects players in game. Increasing the risk: Make it so you can only play classic on an account that is current expansion enabled. I think is the approach that Blizzard would want to implement and may also be the best for the health of Classic, but is impossible in the current climate as community sentiment is already at an all time low. Blizzard makes fat stacks, the risk for botters sky-rockets making ban waves more impactful dramatically reducing the amounts of people who would bot. The only thing is when you make this decision the community will rage at this, and then the rage will go away and it will be normalized, but you can't implement this change when things are already bad. Be warned this will happen in the future with TBC and future expansions though as the amount of "content" you get increases so will Blizzards ability to justify this decision. It sucks that Blizzard chose one of the no work option to address this issue but I mean what can you expect its easy. Massive tinfoil hat: Blizzard keeps implementing half measures to keep botters around and community sentiment low enough to use it as an excuse to implement an in-game shop / WoW token diverting almost all botting profit to Blizzard after behavior for purchasing in-game rewards has been normalized in Classic due to the presence of bots. Backup tinfoil hat: People get outraged at the suggestion of an in-game shop for Classic because #nochanges and then Blizzard use this as an excuse to implement requiring BfA to play Classic to disincentive bots while maintaining purity of Classic. Reality sized hat: Blizzard are fucking lazy and have no idea what they're doing and will only do the bare minimum when everything is burning down around them and have no foresight about any of this shit. Thanks for reading. TLDR; Bots make Blizzard money, too many bots make Blizzard lose money, economics is fun Thanks for making such great content

You're 99% right. Theres multiple reasons why they ban in waves. If one person gets banned using a bot, they will generally immediately report it to the forums in which they got their bot from and stop current users from using it or the bot maker might send a mass update to prevent the bot from loading. If they update their warden software low key, they give a time frame and it catches more fish at once. If they use multiple bots, then they wouldnt know which one bans them. It's a pain but it works better than banning one person, which will most likely inform the maker, and the maker finds a new loophole in which blizzard has to keep up with separate bots.

Man, I wish Blizzard would listen to you, this is completely right in what you are saying, one of my biggest worries with Blizzard, is that they are just, instead of nurturing the legacy built with WoW, are ignoring it and trying to create a new more successful legacy in a different upcoming game, it's as if the people running Blizzard are never happy with what they already have, and are constantly on the chase for something new and, "better". I personally have never played WoW, and come from more of a Diablo 2 background with game play, and am also looking forward to Diablo 4, but I have considered playing WoW a bit, but as you say, the bots and the outrageous amount of botting that takes place in the game, is making it something I currently wouldn't even really consider playing and that would certainly be the case for a lot of others, the integrity is tumbling down a rabbit hole, one that if things aren't repaired soon, it might not see the light of day again...

It's so hard to see Blizzard going in a nice direction when it comes to Shadowlands to the point where I'm actually excited for the new expansion, but at the same time...to see them turn a cold shoulder to something that is so easy to fix for their community. If private servers and smaller companies can solve the bot issue, a massive company like Blizz can definitely do it. They just see it in one way: A paying account is still putting money into their wallets. Honestly, love seeing Zack talk about this. Spot on. ♥ I can only hope Blizz can open up their eyes and ears to these statements and worries.

Zack, one thing you neglected to mention either out of ignorance or intentionally when stating how the private servers were able to deal with botting even though they are just ran by a few neckbeards, etc, is that the private servers dealt with bots by literally out competing and putting them out of business by taking away their business/profit margins by baking the typical botting and gold farming services into the game itself as first party services which you can with gold or real money. Even the most respected and largest of them all, Nostralius had a shop, and even it's current day continuation, Elysium (and the other competing large private servers) has a shop, where you can purchase their virtual currency coins with in-game gold or real money which then you can use to literally purchase everything from gear, mounts, character services, exp boosts.. they also have a gold exchange, where you can buy gold or sell gold... and worse of all, you can literally purchase and sell characters... don't feel like leveling 1-60? No worries... just buy an already leveled 60 character off the character shop or maybe you are the type who loves leveling alts, well now you can make a business of and sell them for game currency (they literally out competed and put the ebay/forum account sellers out of business by baking in character auctions into the game). Need proof? Here's what I see when I log on to my Elysium Control Panel and click the "Shop" icon: imgur.com/a/HlzjciS You wanna talk integrity? here you are trying to sell the private servers as champions of integrity to your viewers... when in reality, the private servers are all literally pay2win. All the popular private servers have zero integrity.. Sure they don't have bots or gold sellers running around in game, so it gives the illusion to naive individuals like you that they have solved botting/farming, it's not because they are banning them, it's because they literally out-competed and put them all out of business because they themselves are the bots and gold sellers.

bots and multiboxers are more common than ever. its so bad that you're more likely to run into a bot out in the wild than an actual player. multiboxers on the other hand always seem to show up out of nowhere and nuke everything straight to the recycling bin and you end up stuck there waiting 15-30 minutes for your quest mobs to respawn. it seems like the only time you run across genuine players is when you join a guild or talk to party members in a pug group. as far as reporting them there are so many of them that it just isn't worth my play time to report them all. i'd end up spending more than half my time writing them up and not playing the actual game that i pay to play.

its not 1% of the playerbase, its literally a huge ammount of people, multiboxers realised that its not per account, its per e-mail, so if you have multiple accounts on the same realm, you're basically screwed, moreover all the people that raid will have this "fear" of not being able to raid if they somehow cross the 30 intance lockouts, keep in mind, you cant level an alt on the day you are doing a raid (while you logout for buffs) cuz you will get locked, theres gonna be a lot less people doing dungeons and therefore less incentive for new players to participate in those activities. these are my 2 cents on the problem, sorry for any spelling errors.

The way i look at triple a games is there like a boat with a hole in it and the players are the ones bailing water and then u got the devs slowly throwing water in the boat where the only goal is not to have the boat sink but fill it with as much water as possible every game will eventually sink devs no this so they just try amd milk it

I've seen the same bot herbing in Azshara for months yoinking all my herbs and it sucks. I've followed him and seen the pattern he walks in, he clearly walks to checkpoints and it's so obvious just from looking 30 seconds that he's botting. I've reported him with detailed information and I've also seen others complain and reported him but nothing ever happens. This has been going on for at least 3 or 4 months now and it's really starting to affect my enjoyment of the game and I'm starting to doubt their in-game report even works.

I do not even play wow or classic wow but I have watch among old for years. I really enjoy his content even as a non-player. Honestly this type of video(outdoor scene not at his computer with twitch chat rolling) really spoke to me. I played Diablo, Diablo 2 lod, small amounts of Diablo 3 (total trash compared to diablo 2 lod) war craft 2, war craft 3, war craft 3 reforged (sadly a massive let down the beta was more active with all the crashes) starcraft, and starcraft 2. I have been a hardcore blizzard supporter for going on 20 years. I could genuinely feel the pain his your voice. I recently started to play diablo 2 ladder again and the bots on there and lack of servers to create and host games have cause the game creation queue to be at some points 4,000+(5-7 minutes) just to farm a single boss. What has happened is people crash other peoples games and steal thier bosses in later acts just to avoid the long creation times. Which has forced players to make private game and avoid public games almost all together and force the players to not be able to positively interact with the community as a whole. "Activision" Blizzard is sadly not even a shadow of thier former glory and it honestly breaks my heart. Asmongold as a nearly life long blizzard supporter I really hope they take the steps to get back into the games they promote and create.i hope they try to save and preserve thier player base who loved them as a company before thier sole focus was about making as many pennies as possible and they had a very profitable balance. All the best, A Blizzard Fan.

Why couldn’t they appoint player moderators, like chats have, that could take action right then and there when they see obvious botting? Even a few per server would do something, people could report to them, and they could investigate the problem. They would have to be trustworthy of course, which is a rare attribute nowadays.

I think a 30 instance limit can be reasonable. I'd be tempted to be harsher and make it a 5-10 per dungeon per character as well, so a character can run dm 5-10 times, not run dm 30 times, for example. They could run and do other dungeons after they hit that limit. Not that dm is the problem, just an example. Cutting down on bot profitability may be the biggest impact, but boosting and dungeon farming can be activities that hurt the experience for some of the players. Players that don't want to boost find it harder to get dungeon group when boosting is the norm. Boosting also rewards a player for doing little more than standing in a dungeon while someone else does the work. Dungeon farming is a lesser problem, but doesnt add much to the game, but can impact players when trying to buy/sell on the ah. I dint have a problem with limiting those, the limits only impact the most extreme players, who will still be capable of open world activities, which is where most farming was probably meant to take place anyway.

I feel the bot man righteous orb being 14g on my server just removed any reason to farm strath after your in raid gear. Haven’t seen the old orb reserved tanks in lfg for months. That’s just one little effect and all I hear is gold buying isn’t being punished while I’m out here farming for 2-6 hours a day just trying to make some gold then someone just throws $300 to a bot farmer and gets 10000g. Just poses the question should I buy gold? How will I keep up in the economy when x amount of players buy gold and just empty the ah of mats for crafting with no investment of time played or no real understanding of what gold is worth.

Tbh as a osrs player I've learned to accept botting and it cant be stopped. Like trying to stop certain crimes. It's just not plausible. Any form of tactic/regulation or bot detection they make just become obsolete to quickly as the people making the software to bot detect are not as good or dedicated as the bot program creators/script creators. And this is just due to amount of people on both sides. More tying to create scripts than trying to stop them.

As a former semi-hardcore botter back in cata/mop i can tell you one thing: Blizzard won't ban bots because more bots = more money. I used to bot on 25 accounts halls of lightning with 25 druids back in the day, 25k/h. It was fucking massive. Once blizzard banned My accounts i used to pay for more, new ones and start all over again (more money to blizzard) and like i said, i was semi hardcore, i knew a bunch of trully hardcore botters who botted with 200 accounts at the same time. So, imagine the money that blizzard does by letting one dude to bot for a while with 200 accounts. It's fucking crazy.

Had just gotten to the point of farming pre bis in dungeons for raids this really sucks for me, this is all instances and i was doing over 30 dungeons playing all day to get pre bis, this is really sad for me. Don’t get me wrong I hate bots but why do I have to be punished for them? this seriously is making me reconsider getting back into classic time caps and things are the main reason I hate retail. i have 1 or 2 days a week to play but play for over 16-20 hours sometime on those days, playing retail like that sucked made me wanna quit. i was so happy with classic so far but this just hit me really hard… this suck so much I really can’t express how sad I am right now, I have no clue how long its going to take me to get pre bis months? i was just starting to think i was close to maybe raiding. i started in wrath never played classic. the game has been amazing for me but this sucks now what I have to stop playing I wish I started earlier. i wanna waste my time off on this it makes me happy. happier then i have been on my days off in a long time. please reconsider how your handling this this literally crushed my dreams a bit after just arranging more time off to play the game. on top of the fact if Try to split my time or make an alt I can’t do any instances now on that for fear of holding my main back I know I'm a scrub but I dont want to be I want to try to put all my free time into the game. This game was literally starting to consume all my free time on my days off and know what I loved it. Now what I'm screwed? I want to waste my life on something fun let me, stop holding me back blizzard

The same problem is in RuneScape. On the main game botting is scarce and you just don't see them. But on osrs, there's thousands online at all times and it's disgusting in f2p worlds.

It usually said that waiting works better because you don't give boters the information what works and what does not. But I agree. Waiting is good to stop them adapting too fast but I remember the trade channel in retail and it's ridiculous how much Blizz does not care about people being able to at least hide this stuff, not speaking about being more aggressive against botting.

I do think they care somewhat, since lots of these bots are hacked accounts from people who will probably complain to blizzard when they find out they've been banned.

I am playing retail right now. Bots don't have that much effect on me as I try not to use auction house too often as it is not needed for what I like to do. I'd prefer not to BG/dungeon/raid with a bot but I don't think that's a big thing. I would definitely complain if that were a thing. However, when I do return to Classic, I really do want things to be owned and sold by real life players. Because I am not playing right now, the last thing I want to do is compete with bots that have been farming non stop every day when I haven't been on. It does ruin the economy, it ruins hard-earned achievements. I don't want to compete with a computer program in an MMO (not including the actual programming of the game itself). With that being said, I probably won't be bothered too much unless they are interfering with my game play. I don't intent to farm gold for the sake of AH purchases but I am not sure yet. I have never been max level in Classic before so I guess I can't say much. I do hope they have layering so that low population areas can come to life. But I also don't want people abusing it for farming bosses that should be weekly.

I was just running a few Stockades to get gold while waiting for raid to fill, and was solicited by a crowd of players individually waiting outside the instance, sometimes two or three times. Rather than grouping with each other to do it, they demanded paying me for carries. >> Grobbulus

There is an “economy” for that nonsense. Unfortunately, to get people to take such things seriously, you shouldn’t do something like Stocks for gold if you expect botters and exploiters to do what is complained about most.
