gain yes as big of a difference as some people expect no. having a sub or any speaker in an enclosed space vs a open field will yield more bass. the biggest thing for bass is boundary reinforcement and hitting the rooms peaks/nulls just moving a sub / speaker over a couple of feet and make a gigantic difference in output and lucky enough its easy to do.

There is no such thing as room gain going from some frequency down below. It's fixed into specific one with little wiggle room. For example, 4x4 meters room has a gain of around 40-45 Hz, if the sub is placed in the corner and you sit in the opposite corner. In this room, room gain doesn't work at 35 Hz for example and sure as hell won't be at 20 Hz. You'd have to have around 8 meters for sub 30 Hz gains. What you tested is not room gain, it's just easier to pressurize smaller space.
