Put that 8 in a 10ft tube and then see how you feel. Its always going to be about motor force and proper enclosure. The enclosure will ensure all the energy is radiated to the location desired. You want to minimize waisted energy. Moving air back and forth does nothing for sound. It must be acoustically impedance matched to turn it in to sound which moves at 767 mph. Anytime the waves cancel, its just energy lost. That is why seald enclosure does so well. It limits the wave to the diaphragm diameter. With ported enclosures, it allows the opposing phase to combine with the diaphragm and contribute to the volume. The port side is going to have greater contributions as it is directly coupled to the air and will move the air mass closer to the speed of sound. But once a ported box moves out of its tuning range, more phase cancelation occurs. In my opinion, smaller high motor force subs are better when the perfect box is applied. Smaller subs doesnt equal lighter either. My 2 10s are 40 freakn lbs each. I got 12s that are 100lbs. There are nothing but trade off in this game. Ive found for myself that im satisfied with a difficult to make box with a tiny, stupid powerful sub with a shit ton of power is the most rewarding. It give me bandwidth and spl in a small eye opening package. At the cost of headache inducing box builds, power hungry monsters and lots of trail and error. I do however, hope to build some ridiculous 24 inch or larger subs that can handle 100k watts. And a rotary sub that acts more like wind tunnel on roids. But im a dreamer...🔊🙉

There is a difference. Its way harder to have powerful lows and good highs or even a flat response. You havent really experienced focused beam lows until you've heard it from a horn. I have tower speakers that can do 40hz with ease. So I can crossover and blend my subs to do everything below 40hz. According to THX bass is 20 to 80hz. I prefer clean low bass. One con to subs with high excursion is once they get low at high volume. The sub can produce mechanical noise and air turbulence depending on the box and distortion. In low bass cone area seems to be more important over high excursion. The average human hearing can hear down to 20hz. You aren't supposed to hear anything below that even though some might. You are supposed to only feel it in the subsonic range. If you hear anything it's more than likely noise making it audible. Generally speaking.

Nothing like strong low bass (around 40hz and below as you state in video). The visceral and auditory impact combined invokes immersion you just don't get at any of the other frequencies, although of course you'd want all frequencies to be able to be played back with authority and clarity for a truly immersive experience, be it music or movies.

Y'all are crazy.this guys subs are $60 each and have a bottom end frequency response of 32hz!! YOU ARE NOT HITTING BELOW 32HZ with that sub man.. go pick up some test tones and you'll see that your entire video is full of LIES!!! Even the movie industry and many professional environments can't reproduce sound in the 20-30hz range. Yet you make a video with some $60 lowend subs in a homemade box USING CAR AUDIO IN HOME AUDIO with COMPUTER power supplies and want to claim you are hitting notes that billionaires can't do..GTFOH!!!
@WaveImages15 күн бұрын
My subs are more than 60$ but that doesn't matter. I definitely am hitting below 30hz and below 20hz because my ported 18 is tuned to 22hz and vibrates the entire room at 20hz. I play with test tones all the time off camera so I know what my subs can play and handle. I can get down to 14hz with authority THEN it starts to roll off. The fs of the 18 is 24hz so playing low notes is a lot easier than high fs subwoofers. My 15 in a sealed box can also play in the 20s with authority. Just because you've never heard a sub play below 30hz before doesn't mean they don't exist.
@SG-Cichlids15 күн бұрын
People play that low all the time. Home theater enclosures are typically tuned lower than 30 hertz. In car audio you can find people doing well over 140 db below 30 hertz. My car with a single 12 does 140's. It's all about first and foremost the correct electrical. Second the right box for the sub and cabin. Is this guys stereo as bad a-- as he makes it it to be? No. Could it play that low? Of course.

Anything higher then 40hz is high? Man what you smoking? Most of your avg joes can't even hit anything below 45-50hz THAT IS LITERALLY their bottom end low notes.
@anys405315 күн бұрын
I agree with him, It doesn't really matter if most people can hit it or not, 40hz up just has not the same effect as 20-30s, the air pressure is just diferent.
@damon20r15 күн бұрын
Yes he is right. It is literally in the name. "SUBwoofer" 40 to 50 hz is generally the lower end of what a typical woofer will do. The reason there are SUBwoofers.
@solidsnake640515 күн бұрын
@@damon20r you people are seriously misinformed! The human ear can't even hear down past 20hz and the vast majority of subs have a frequency response of 20-24hz-500hz.. Saying the high-end of Bass response starts right at the cutoff point of the majority of sub enclosures is downright stupid!! Generally speaking a sub's higher bass notes starts around 80hz and continues to around 150hz that's where your rock and classical music punch hard. Low end bass notes are anything below 80hz think hip-hop and rap which is right where most enclosures start to boom in the 40-80hz range. SUBSONIC bass starts around 20-25hz it's literally in the name below sonic aka below what can be heard!!! If you have a box that's only doing sub 20hz then you aren't hearing jack crap besides stuff around you rattling from their resonant frequencies being hit and all of that sounds like utter garbage and will destroy your subs in short order because the cone is moving very little so the voice coil isn't being cooled and will get cooked quick,which is why amps have SUBSONIC FILTERS !!!!! Go get some bass test tones and I'll bet that will show all of you that you are wrong and your enclosures are booming around 30-40hz not down below 20hz as y'all have calmed.
@SG-Cichlids15 күн бұрын
@solidsnake6405 is correct. Sub bass starts at around 150 hertz. Subsonic bass starts around 25 hertz. If you want a setup that is in no way musical tune to 18 hertz. It's only good for watching movies. 30-35 in my opinion is the best tuning range for a musical sub. Depending on the box and the sub it should play to around 80 hertz. This kid says a lot of false things and is getting nowhere near the power he says with that amp and box rise and bad electrical. One video he said he has a flat response down to 14 hertz. Lol
@SG-Cichlids14 күн бұрын
40-50 hertz is not the typical low end cutoff. Most generic boxes you'd buy at a car audio shop are tuned to 40-37 hertz. Why? Because that's the bass people really feel in their chest and the box can be smaller. A box tuned to 40 will hit into the 30's before rolling off. Where people come up with the things they say is beyond me. My box for example is tuned to 32. It will play down to 25 with good authority depending on how much power I'm applying and will play all the way up to 80 hertz. It does 140's below 35 herts. The claims this guy makes with zero test equipment is ridiculous though. Before making any of these claims he needs an spl meter and an rta. Cheapest spl meter is the spl labs mini. You can also get a calibrated mic for your phone that works with an rta app. Literally a hand held rta for surprisingly cheap.

9hz or lower can be hard on ceilings because at that frequency the ceiling will start acting like a passive radiator so it can be scary if your ceiling is thin or weak but I've seen a KZbinr in the past who would make their ceiling fan blades jump up and down at 6hz while his ceiling was moving with it as well but he had a infinite baffle setup and it was insane on how loud he got at those 5hz-15hz frequencies but sadly his channel got taken down 4 years ago and he has also passed away in 2012 and if you wanna know what his channel name was it's kryptonitewhite.
