I loved her show beyond all things, it was pure gold! The Eunice character was so incredibly funny and waaaay too familiar. My Mother (born in Savannah, so the accents were dead on target) was Eunice; volatile, angry, sorely "put upon" by life, she was constantly aggrieved. Dad was like Ed, "sorry dear" was his constant refrain and like Mama, her Mother hated him. I laughed so hard! Now, my Sister responded differently, she could not bear Eunice and Mama, she was (as the Scientologists say) re-stimulated by the character's painful familiarity; it was too accurate to be funny for her. So, of course she couldn't bear "Mama's Family", which I still watch occasionally to this day, at age 74. It is still very funny. I did meet Vicki Lawrence in Las Vegas where she was producing "The Vicki Lawrence Show". She was lovely! One of my friends was Carole Burnett and Jim Nabors neighbor in their spectacular homes in Hawaii. She loved them both. I helped her choose gifts for them, it was a great pleasure.
