Will a Tri-band router give you faster internet speed? kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIPFmXybd8mXqsU 🤔
@VincentAnzalone2 жыл бұрын
The wireless signal radiates perpendicular to that of the antenna direction. Think of the antenna going through the hole of a donut. The donut shows the signal direction. Antennas pointing up, have a signal useful for ground level. Horizontal, for upper/lower levels. Also the wireless waves from each antenna interact with each other when they hit (wirelessly) and where these wave hit, they combine to create something called 'constructive interference', which intensifies its strength in a direction between the two radiating waves. In two dimensions it's easy to think of it like this... 🡡 = Antenna vertical pointing up (waves radiate directionally left and right: ⟷) 🡢 = Antenna horizontal pointing right (waves radiate directionally up and down: ↕) 🡥 = Constructive interference (where the waves hit each other and combine resulting in more strength) 🡥 = 🡡 + 🡢 (constructive wave radiates: *⤡* and *⤢* ) It's best to try and have each of the antennas pointed at different angles as to cause more constructive interference between the wireless signals. There are optimal direction/angles to use for each but it depends upon where the signal needs to go. For most cases people can get away with a 3 antenna setup with antenna 1 pointing out 45 degrees from center antenna and bent 45 degrees. Antenna 2 (center) pointing straight up. Antenna 3 pointing out -45 degrees (aka 315 degrees) and bent 45 degrees. ._ *⤣* ____ *↑* ____ *⤤* _. | I'm a router |

The receiving devices also have antennas and if the are in the same orientation as the transmitter the will receive a strong signal and as their orientations diverge, the signal will weaken. So desk top computers, and fixed wife receivers like TV, players, etc will have much different reception than hand held devices like iPads and mobile phones. For interest lookup antenna polizartion. Interesting test by the way.

Antenna waves go perpendicular... so wherever the antenna is facing the waves will go out the sides of it. It's best to put the router on the middle floor and attach it to a wall at half wall height, so the antennas are pointing straight out (with slight angle adjustments) and point the sides of the antennas towards rooms in your house. My TP-Link AX6000 has 8 antennas and dual band 5GHz. I have it on the wall in my office and with simply angling them correctly I'm getting 700Mbps Wi-Fi upstairs and downstairs. It only drops off at the furthest point which is the garage that has concrete walls... and still getting 200Mbps there.
@UhhhhhnooOOo00oO4 жыл бұрын
Or you can just put the router in the middle of your home and point some antenna horizontally. Just what I want, a router bolted to my wall with antenna sticking out. I require every bit of the signal to go up. From straight up to about a 30 degree angle up. I for certain reasons, have my router on the second lowest level of a 5 floor house. I have nothing that requires a signal below or even at the same level of the router. I'm toying with metal plates at certain levels below the router but, these might cause interference, instead of reflection. Not getting into how wi-fi signals work and wavelength equations. I guess the concrete and earth foundation is enough and putting the router in the open (not on a wall) with easily penatrated materials or lack thereof around it. I am toying with one horizontal antenna and one at about a 70° angle. I am toying with bot being bored as well. ;)

The first thing to determine is which band each antenna is broadcasting. Each will be either 2.4GHz or 5GHz but not both. Once you figure that out then you can make better choices. The signal radiates radially perpendicular from the antenna. In a perfect world the antenna is parallel to the antenna in the remote device so the resonant signal can be picked up. Ideally you want antennas 90deg off from each other; ideally there are 3 antenna per band and each would be in a 3d 90deg orientation from each other (like the corner of a cube, one in the X one in the Y and one in the Z axis.

All of your 3 tests were done in the same level of the house (ground). You need to test upstairs and downstairs (basement) too. Then the position of the antennas will make the biggest difference. And that's due to how the signal is propagated
@Sharpshooter991003 жыл бұрын
Previous place i lived....... router downstairs and 2 antennas, with both antennas verticle almost no signal from my bedroom upstairs, with one antenna 45 deg horizontal much better signal from bedroom. Definitely makes a difference....... Also used a longer telephone cable so the router can be repositioned and then test for the best performance...... Its all trial and error
@cattysplat3 жыл бұрын
I used to have router in upstairs, it reached the whole of the house including downstairs. Now I have it downstairs it only reaches a few rooms away and barely upstairs, I have to use a signal repeater to give my upstairs wifi internet. Not a massive deal but it does show height helps propagate the signal further and if you only have a router with no repeater then any extra height you can give it will make a big difference.

@UhhhhhnooOOo00oO3 жыл бұрын
@@XX-121 The thing is.....I'd do full mesh if I really wanted to go all out. I have a decently expensive router and a pretty big house. It actually reaches throughout the entire house besides a rear fireplace room that was built on extra and is one floor up and way on the back of the house. 1) I knowingly moronic on my part, keep the router all the way downstairs because most of the wifi/bandwidth usage is down on the lower levels and it requires a faster speed. 2) The connection cable is direct connected into a gaming room with another separatededicated cable run to another part of the house. (Sad) 3) For some Reason my 5G signal goes just as far as my regular wider signal in this house. (They couldn't explain it either) and 4) My antennas are both places at about a 35 degree angle opposite each other to cover most of that fireplace room and the very top of the house. 5) I really don't want a powerful router or cordless phone 2.4ghz or 5.8ghz near my or anyone's head whilst they are sleeping or in their bedrooms. It's enough that they we are constantly bombarded. So, the short answer is stupidly downstairs and both at a 45 degree angle to cover about 98% of a large house. (This router covers) I do have a lot extender if it is necessary but, now the fireplace room TV is covered. (Maybe the two corners around covered) The back deck and further in the backyard is covered as well. I tried it at different angles. The coverage maybe differed by 5 to 10 feet. Just angle the antennas at where you want to cover. The same floor isn't necessary because it's the closest with the least impediments.

Simple: The signal strength is strongest in the perpendicular plane around an Antenna. The signal is strongest closest to the wi-fi router. Place your router as centrally as possible for fastest wi-fi over largest area. For orientation tweak of Antennas, simply establish the furthest point from your wif-fi router and run speed tests from there. You will likely find that the furthest point in a two story home is in a top or bottom corner of the building furthest from the router. Tilt all antennas slightly so that the radiation pattern catches this furthest corner - just as you would hold a bow if shooting an arrow from the router to the furthest point with weakest signal. If you tilt too much then signal level will drop off on the floor where the router sits - so balance the competing requirements giving priority to where you need the best signal speed. For wi-fi all on one level point all antennas vertically.
