when I first got out of the US Army everything was super easy to do because everything in civilian life is easy compared to the Army. I unfortunately for a few years just took advantage of past gains until those gains were lost, but when I hit my low I looked back and asked how did I get here. I saw 3 big things that the Army does to make a persons life better. 1. They force you to own less stuff, this minimizes distractions. 2. They keep you in very good shape. 3. They force you to do hard things. So, what I decided to do is to try pretend that I had a Drill Sergeant yelling at me anytime I was trying to wimp out, and guess what? Life got much easier again. Being fit says a lot about you. You can't buy it. You can't inherit it. It tells the truth about what kind of a person you are. There are exceptions. There are guys that just have the right genetic gift from birth.
@maxdamagusbroski5 ай бұрын
You absolutely can buy it. Steroids or just HGH will make fat burning and muscle growth superior to a natural working out 3 - 4 days a week, by simply being mildly active, not even weight lifting. On top of that, testosterone makes work FEEL GOOD. Which is a very good reason to train naturally, but if you inject, you WANT to lift, you LOVE to lift and it's the easiest thing in the world if you know what you're doing to feel instantly amazing. Better than cake and junk food, but also can shorten life. Lift naturally but consider TRT in later life.

My body transformation has been significant in the last 2 years, and it does pay off. When you know that you won't die after 30 push ups in a row, other things like getting the job you want, going for that side project, booking that flight, having that difficult conversation with a friend/relative, asking that girl out regardless of the outcome, are things that not the end of the world because you assess them vs the strength of your mind and body (and soul?). "..You get some results, and you realize that you have the power, you're in control" This right here is such a powerful message. For me this happened a bit backwards. I was playing video games, a particularly hard video game specifically. In that video game there was a particularly difficult challenge. Insanely challenging. It took months and months of practice and dedication. I broke my controller and injured the joints in my hands and fingers due to the stress I was putting on them. In the end, when I finally managed to completed the goal I had set up for myself, something in my head just clicked. It was such an empowering moment, realizing what insane achievements I were capable of if I set my mind to it and just were dedicated enough. I realized that If I were able to do this, in a video game, what's stopping me from doing something similarly extreme elsewhere? This is what inspired me to be more serious with working out and building my physique. I'm now in my 30s, I'm healthier than what I've ever been and I've recently gotten actual visible abs. Spent my 20s and 30s as a barfly. Started working out in my early 40s, now I'm feeling great being muscular and filling out shirt sleeves. Wish I started at your age. Go for it. Sleep when you're tired, wake up early with no alarm. Eat whole foods - eggs, meat, fish, milk, whole carbs, veg, some fruit. Lift heavy but avoid injury. Make the sacrifices and reap the rewards.

You mentioned that working out, gives you confidence. It certainly does also change your mindset on approach a certain challenge. All those mental blocks and obstacles that you put up on yourself go away because you put yourself through a little bit of discomfort and you find out that you can get through more than you thought you could and like you said you’re OK with taking more risk because if you fail, you already have it in you to be able to bounce back.

Started training hard about 4 months ago at age 39, after a lifetime of steady alcohol/gaming/women/decadence/egoism/bad food/debauchery/laziness. No education to speak of, fairly high IQ, comfy but low-mid paying job. Been fairly lucky with genetics, so all fat was/is around my gut. Only physical activity was 15 years of skateboarding (up until about age 26) but after that it was only living for the path of least resistance and maximum comfort. Constant anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, stressed out all the time, not feeling like an adult, waiting for life to happen. I also hated the gym with the fire of a thousand suns. I started working out without the motivation to do so, simply because I thought it couldn't hurt and that it would help me mentally - and now I wish I had started doing it in my 20's instead. My alcoholic mind is starting to clear (without going completely sober, just drinking less often), muscle is starting to grow/show, belly is slowly going away together with anxiety and depression, self-esteem shows up on occasion and stress is going down. It's incredible how effective it is if you just stick with it for the first 2-3 weeks. Life goals now is getting jacked while also getting a substantial amount of money, except I have no idea how to do that yet. The difference is that now it feels possible. If anyone reads this and has any tips on how to earn a normal living 100% online, please let me know. My wish is to be able to work from anywhere, once that is achieved then I'll consider my life a success.

What people seem to forget is that brain health is the most important. It's not your successes or failures or getting jacked, travel or be a working nomad. Or whatever goal you might have. Exercise and clean food will help extensively but it's indirect. Flexing your mind when things turn worse is how you stay healthy and adapt. It's next level.

My recommendation is to join my trading team and learn how to day trade the stockmarket. You can try the free trial. It's called Team Alpha Trading here on KZbin. I don't own it one just been in it and don't leave now just because i enjoy hanging with the crew live on KZbin. Look for videos by Andrew, Mike, and Brendan. They all have their own channels as well as Team Alpha. Simple strategy you can learn very quickly. You wait for the setup, you take your position. Cut losses fast, and ride wins for 10, 20, 30+ % gains. Work anywhere you have access to the internet, work 1 hour a day, and make potential millions. I highly recommend it.

It’s funny because when I am lean bulked I seem to get eyes from women more than when I am jacked. I am fairly tall (6’4’’) and I think being jacked makes me look too lanky. But when I am lean bulked (I never let myself get above 20% bf), women always tell me I look better. I can tell they mean it too. I think being extremely jacked is overrated. I think some dudes look better with more muscle and a bit higher bf, but not “fat”.

Totally depends on your frame/face/where you carry fat, but yeah, generally being diced doesn’t communicate “healthy”.

This is a very human conversation. You brought up some very good points... especially the one on food consumption. If taken a little further you can see that being fit requires more energy expenditure and consumption-and there is a fine line. Also, fitness should be seen as a foundation, as you mentioned, not a total absorption of identity. We can easily become too wrapped up in the image of our bodies if we do not see that we are doing it. Thanks for sharing. Best of luck to you.

Great message! And relatable back story, probably gives a lot of appreciation for your journey out. I had similar problems, heart issues since 28 and I started mountain biking, fit now even though heart issues remain. It’s at least mentally a far better way of life to conquer hard things and build yourself into something you have self respect for. And yes peoples first impression is 100% changed, rich people and women all have respect for someone if they’re in that 1% of fitness. And definitely jealousy from people in their negative who don’t want to know that it wasn’t easy. I find that self drive and having a sport that you’re passionate about are all the motivation that’s needed.

I've gone from being a fat weak tubby a year ago, to hitting the gym 7 days a week. I've lost 30 pounds and now finally getting jacked. People 100% treat you way differently if you're fit and healthy versus fat. Random people are constantly approaching me and making small talk. On the street, at the driving range, at the gym. I didn't experience any of this a year ago. Being healthy and upbeat attracts people, if you look unhealthy and depressed, people avoid you.

I am not overeating to get super huge. I walk, walk, walk. I lift weights quite a bit, too, but I also do pull ups and push ups. I read a lot to keep my mind sharp. So, if being "jacked" requires you to eat a lot and lift a lot, I would say that kind of jacked is not worth it. Walking, being slim, eating lots of cereal, beans, vegs, a fruit, some meat, seems more fun.
@kellysooth6023 ай бұрын
Eating right and lifting weight is essential. Diets don’t work because they are temporary, you need to change your lifestyle and be consistent.
@alanwilson20737 ай бұрын
It's the total package that counts. If you're jacked but live in the basement of your moms house, no that's not gonna fly. No car, shitty car, bland car, nope. Not saying it needs to be a Lambo but you gotta show some margin, show that you know what's happening in the world. And yes, you can have a "beach vehicle" but hey, try to have something nice as well. Having money and being able to afford what others can't scores a lotta points with the girls, after-all they wanna know you can take care of them or handle a threat while out and about. Take care of your appearance, dress well, have some nice shirts, not t-shirts all the time. Clothes matter to chicks. I don't see any homeless guys with runway models hangin' on to their arms, do you?!?!? Exude confidence, not arrogance. Have a sense of humor but don't horseplay around, there can be serious unintended consequences to that.
