Hi James. I’ve only just discovered you but really like your videos and your down to earth approach. I’m 48 years old and had the classic dad bod with the big beer gut. Well I reached rock bottom and decided to make some change. I’ve now lost 27kg in the last 5 months with good old fashioned drive, nutrition and exercise, and now I love looking great and feeling great, my goal has shifted and I’ve entered the journey to getting jacked. Will definitely be watching more of your videos. Keep up the great work. Kasey from Australia 💪

Yeah my personal preference is to have carbs for dinner over any other time of the day. Helps with focus throughout the day and sleep well at night. Carbs cycling is good, I do it but more on a unplanned basis.

I'd be really curios to know your thoughts on the Keto/carnivore diet? I've seen some pretty jacked individuals and they don't eat any carbs?
@james.sweetland
@james.sweetland 6 ай бұрын
I have done both. Carnivore is a useful tool for certain situations but long term I don't think it's a good idea to completely overly restrict carbs - although it depends where you live. My diet is carnivore inspired with easily digestible carbs added back in.

I would disagree. Adding muscle requires a lot of energy (calorically, costs more, more time in gym, more time eating) and is much more difficult than losing body fat. Most of the before and after pics are of guys who had the structure but just lost the fat. Maybe I’m just viewing it through my own lens though.
@truthtelleranon
@truthtelleranon 7 ай бұрын
@@dustinbrownyt for me personally, losing fat has been difficult historically. what i realized is that people that tend to be chubby are a) relatively sedentary and b) metabolically unhealthy. This is why it’s so hard for them to lose weight. Often they’re eating fewer calories than naturally lean people yet still can’t lose the weight. On the other hand, naturally lean people’s metabolism is so efficient that it takes a gargantuan amount of calories to build muscle. Of course this varies person to person, as some people are skinny fat, metabolically unwell, low testosterone etc. Everyone has their own challenges in the end, but they can be overcome

Yes, and while resistance training, one will burn calories, add muscle, which in turn burns more calories. Knowing this creates a more resilient mindset when not seeing the immediate improvements.

KZbin transcript: "I made this little pie chart here just to put into perspective how much difference supplements *make* I'm talking about over the count of supplements not Peds. But even if we put Peds on this graph it might surprise you that I would maybe put Peds at 30% or something like that uh because you still got to do the work." Have a good day lads 👊
@alexspicer8569
@alexspicer8569 7 ай бұрын
@james.sweetland studies tend to show that AAS users gain twice the amount of muscle than that of natural lifters, e.g. an intermediate natural lifter could hope to gain 5kg per year, whereas an intermediate lifter using PEDs might gain 9-11kg of muscle per year. Which is 100% increase. Even anecdotally, we've all seen the wild improvements users can have compared to themselves prior to use. I certainly agree that users still have to put the work in just as hard as, if not harder (because the PEDs allow them to) than natural lifters, but claiming a 30% boost through use is wildly misleading and feeds into what is wrong with the fitness industry and the disinformation that is out there misleading young men.
@james.sweetland
@james.sweetland 7 ай бұрын
@@alexspicer8569 I agree with your point and maybe it is not 30%, definitely in some cases it's a lot more. But also I know friends who took PEDs and made almost no gains what so ever. So someone who is dialed in with everything, maybe they would see a 100% improvement if not more. Someone who isn't sees a 10% improvement. Therefore the average gains for the average person on average would be somewhere in the middle. Don't think you need to get hung up on the 30% number buddy. Maybe slightly off but no big deal and yes there is a lot of disinformation in the fitness industry and I don't think this video is contributing to that. If you do then cool, I can't please everyone, thanks for stopping either way 👊
