It had never really occurred to me before that this is the first legitimately serious Steven Universe promo. Also, while spacing out the episodes certainly makes the cliffhangers a lot worse, it does make, like you said, the hiatuses much more tolerable whole is a complaint I have been seeing from a lot of fans, so good on CN for changing things up.

This is exactly the same thing that happened to Gravity Falls. Disney realized that the internet would take every little thing in the promos and analyze it to death, so they stuck enough stuff in those promos to keep us busy for a couple days. They realized that the promos for early episodes were cringeworthy and highlighted the worst jokes of the episodes (when taken out of context), so they looked at what the internet wanted to see and catered to those demands. My personal favorite example is quotes at the beginning like "Seems like something a responsible parent wouldn't want you doing... good thing I'm an uncle!" or "No offense Dipper, but you're the sidekick." Compare to commercials like AToTS, where there were enough pictures flashed by to keep even hardcore fans busy for almost the full week.

I absolutely hated the way they advertised SU for the majority of its run, especially because I knew people who would've been interested in watching the show if the commercials hadn't been so misleading. At least i was able to talk to some of those people but this just tells me that SU could've had an even bigger reception if it was advertised closer to the kind of show it actually is!

A consistent schedule, I think, is key. Steven Universe goes on so many hiatuses, it feels overshadowed by the other Cartoon Network shows, which all (for the most part) stick to the weekly, Thursday airtime for new episodes. I like it when a show airs episodes on the same day and at the same time each week. It helps me fit it in with my own schedule, and easily know when it's airing.

I don't think so. I you think about it, the memes and an episode that was hyped as a gender moral episode sure feels like trying to hard to appeal to Tumblr. Also, here's a fun fact about that episode with the unicorn, the writer of the episode never intended to talk about gender, it was just about an a pony wanting to be an unicorn, but the showrunners hyped that episode like it was about genders. But tumblr didn't like it at all.

Yeah, the hiatuses were annoying considering they have 52 episodes each season (well, now 26 since they've split seasons 2 and 3 in half), they could have aired throughout the year. At least Gravity Falls had a excuse only having 21 episodes in season 2. But yeah, I'm glad CN is now airing SU, and their other shows regularly instead of doing bombs. I guess doing bombs for new shows like the new PPG is okay, so they can have a lot of episodes to show in reruns at the beginning, but I don't want to see any more bombs for shows that aren't new.

I'm hoping this is a sign that CN can see the value in anything beyond pure comedy for a show. Comedy is great, people love a show that makes them laugh. However, what made shows like Seven Universe and Adventure Time popular is the balance between the comedy and the more serious issues that happen within the show's worlds. I think it gives meaning to what the characters go through since they can handle obstacles while still enjoying life.

Steven Universe is a series that (in my opinion) grows as the viewer does. Season 1 was a child-happy fun loving series. Season 2 is a more serious tone on something most teens or pre-teens would like. But this season feels more teen orientated. The story is aging, something no other show has done. I wouldn't be surprised if season 4 is more for adults; about how the gem world works, how serious the difference between earth and homeworld and even more, possibly serious issues where there is no bad or good. But a situation where both are unavoidably needed. But that's my thought.

They wrote it (And Thunder Cats) off as a "monetary failure" or something like that, which means they get a tax break of some kind for killing the IP off. It's a very weird thing, but basically they killed it because it wasn't selling toys.

They killed it off because the creator of Sym Bionic Titan, Genndy Tartakovsky, refused to sign a contract that would allow CN to take the show and turn it into a Ben10-esque cash cow toy commercial. This was literally the only show of Genndy Tartakovsky's that was legitimately cancelled by CN, the others were just him moving on to other projects, and it was because he didn't want it to become another Ben 10. Why must it always be about the toys (like there are other forms of merchandise, just look at superhero shirts), and why can't it be ART before Commerce? I'd certainly like to think CN is listening to the fans. These past few weekends they've been airing SU episodes none stop, as oppose to the endless TTG that normally fills up 60% of the normal schedule from a couple of months ago. So this is a very welcome change in my book; I just wonder how people who watch CN for shows that aren't TTG nor SU feel about it. (Although, they could just be airing these episodes as a build-up to In Too Deep and it may change as soon as it finishes, but I'd hope it goes to being more balanced.)

+Mecha_Gaeb TTG get this is losing ratings. It's nowhere near as "popular" and I say that loosely as it used to be. The network needs to start coming up with new ideas because they can't ride on a lazy show forever. I mean that's what happened with Nickelodeon and their post movie SpongeBob episodes and look how well they are doing. Nickelodeon is practically dead. CN may not be the brightest TV channel on the vine but they at least know that if their network is in danger of dying out they will try something to improve the overall channel's quality and the fact that Stewart Snyder got fired and replaced with Christina Miller says quite a lot to help in proving the point because Snyder was trying to make CN into another Nickelodeon. They had to get rid of him.

I am 11 and am an avid watcher of this show. I have only watched up to the second episode of the second season (god dang aussie iTunes won't stock volume 3 yet, even though all the episodes have aired already) and am hyped for the episodes to come. I genuinely think there are other kids out there like me who watch the show for it's deep insight, for its serious moments that make this show as unique as it is. This is why it is my favourite show. It's just so unique in its concept, and can mix goofy moments and more serious bits perfectly well, while even providing a bit of social commentary. I am hyped for these episodes, even though I probably won't see them for about 6 months at least xD

I would say neither the humor, nor the serious, but the contrast has always been kind of what makes the show work. I got chills watching this promo, but I quite loved the little gag teasers before. I love the comedy and the intense story arcs. It remindes me a bit of teen titans and not the latest version. It has lots of action and drama and musical numbers and you can tell there is a musical number that pearl is singing and it also fits in comedy but I found the trailer toooooooooooooooooo serious but hey that's just what I think

yes, at least a physical season box set. I know US are getting a DVD set containing many episodes from season 1 but not all.

Andrew Ormerod Let's agree that Cartoon Network isnt good with DVD releases. It's nicer to have complete seasonal dvds and not random episode ones. Like Steven Universe Vol 1. To me its unnecessary to have a dvd with random episodes in it.

+Coa Coa Butterfly They need to have goofy promos to attract their target demographic. Also as a fair representative of what the show is, it does have a comedy element. Now I don't like the current promos, but I do think it's a good thing to have some comedy focused promos.

I honestly didn't watch the show because I thought it was stupid based on the advertisement, that it was just another stupid childish Tv show. My older sister told me it was great however and had me watch an episode and I was instantly addicted. I think the advertisement should pull up more drama. To pull in more of an audience so it doesn't just seem like another stupid childish Cartoon Network show.

Man Nick needs to learn from CN. I am so sick of them pushing Miraculous Ladybug around. They're finally airing new episodes again, but of course on Nicktoons and not on their main channel. God forbid they air something else besides Spongebob and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
