Actually Nick Didn't pass on Ed Edd N eddy. They wanted the show but they wanted full control so it went to Cartoon Network so they could do what the people working on it can do what they want. Its not like Adventure time and Phenius and Ferb where they said no.

These two boys, ages about 7 and 10 (from what I could tell) came up to me in a pet store and were absolutely losing-their-shit-excited about my Steven Universe baseball cap (I'm an adult female just for context). They asked me if i was a fan of the show and I said that of course I was, showing them my phone case, which has a sticker of Ruby and Sapphire on it. One of them said Peridot was his favorite, and I took out my wallet, showing them my Peridot keychain. They were super jealous of my swag and asked where I got it. I told them that the hat came from Hot Topic. "Hot... topic?" The older asked, repeating it like he had no idea what store that was at all. The sticker and keychain were both fanmade and came an artist alley at an anime convention, which obviously these kids wouldn't have access to. I didn't even need to go out of my way at all to prove that boys DO watch Steven Universe and DO want merch for it. The the lack of readily available merchandise is a very poor business decision on the part of the toy companies for not getting the license from CN to properly profit from the show in a way that the 5-12 Male fans crave, not to mention the rest of us.

The way Cartoon Network has been treating Teen Titans Go! recently reminds me of how they treated Johnny Test in the early 2010s and, even before that, Scooby-Doo in the late 90s and early 00s. They seem to have toned down the TTG promos quite a bit, and it's not as aggravating as it was about a year ago. I agree with you on the Adventure Time season 7 finale - in fact, CN didn't even release a promo for it or posts about it on social media. It almost felt like a stealth premiere to me and I hope Season 8 of Adventure Time doesn't go down the same route. I remember hearing about the Uncle Grandpa debacle and, even though I don't care much for the show, I found it weird that they lied about it being renewed. In conclusion, I definitely agree with you that Nickelodeon has been becoming worse and worse and Cartoon Network has reached a considerable middle point. In my opinion, CN has reached a point where it's become as good as it was in 1998 / 1999, and I hope that they don't fall into the same traps that Nickelodeon has.

If you havent heard Pokemon is switching to DisneyXD, a series that aired longer on it's channel than it's longest running original series (Ed, Edd & Eddy) is finally jumping the ship. CN gave Pokemon the worst time slot at 6am and only on saturdays. They didn't even bother to profitt from the Pokemon Go hype. It's sad to see when I remember it being on in the afternoon on weekdays and they even had marathons

Disney XD canceled Wander Over Yonder even though Craig had actual plans for a third season (as you may have seen in the #SaveWOY campaign) and they also canceled The 7D and shelved planned episodes. Aside from that, Disney XD has surprisingly few scandals (at least from what I've read).

Many claim that Cartoon Network is doing better than ever, and that it is in some sort of renaissance. I do admit that they have made a lot of good improvements in the past few years, but they are still far from perfect and they're still doing a lot wrong. Focusing more on quantity ($) over quality and lack of communication with its viewers have been some of its biggest and most detrimental problems. Great video Pieguy!

I agree, one of the things I loved about Cartoon Network back in the late 90s was how well they communicated with their viewers. For instance, Sailor Moon was actually scheduled to have its final episode air in August 1998 before a ton of fans sent letters to CN asking them to air the rest of the episodes, and they did. They don't do stuff like that anymore, although Toonami has certainly retained that attitude.

MonstersReview That's a problem with big networks in the first place. You need big bucks to support a big company. Sadly, this can lead to a lot of stuff getting screwed over (Young Justice, GL TAS, Sym Bionic Titan, etc). But there is a bright side to this; thanks to social media, content creators have a bigger connection to their audience than ever. And to be fair, when people say CN is in a renaissance, they mean the actual content and the fact they don't air live action anymore, rather the network as a whole.

I think CN would get a little less hate if they scheduled their shows better. They have more shows than Nick does that have already aired on the main network before and should try to air them more often. Also I think the promotion of TTG (claiming it is "your favorite show") was a bad look for the company. I did find the Uncle Grandpa news a little surprising but not totally as we have seen networks treat shows like crap before and likely will still see in the future. With many of the current shows ending or nearing its end, I feel CN is a at crossroads and hopefully still can green-light good shows and allow them to develop. Also the Adventure Time season finale lack of promotion was also disappointing. I saw little promotion and only found out about it through a forum before it aired.

Flame of Udun Flash can definitely be done right if actual effort is put into it. Compared to TTG, We Bare Bears does comedy better in the medium, and Star vs the Forces of Evil does action incredibly well for flash.

I would like to see more action cartoons on CN but I don't think CN will air serious shows like YJ on its main channel unless Toonami airs it. A show like Justice League Action (which is coming to CN) which is more kiddish looking but has action with some comedy (like Batman the Brave and the Bold) might open the door to more serious shows.

I have seen the show a few times and honestly its not terrible, its funny at points and the stories have potential if done right. However two things really kill it: CNs treatment of it and what the show is based on (the Sonic Boom games aren't really liked in the video gaming community in general. Especially Rise of Lyric.) One thing I hate about cartoon network is how their handling Sonic boom. Love or hate the show you have to admit the way they are handling it is awful. Putting it on an awful timeslot with absolutely no advertising and when they finally give a decent time slot it premiers on Boomerang. Sure the new episodes get shown again on Cartoon Network a week later it still has the horrible timeslot and absolutely no advertising. They weren't handling pokemon that well either only it had a slightly better timeslot than Sonic Boom.

Thank you for making this video. Adventure Time is my all time favorite show and it was extremely disheartening and disappointing to see the network treat it like this. It's completely unfair to both the viewers AND the creators to hold off an episode for so long and not even make a single promo for it on TV. They even put it on an unusual date, Saturday, and changed the time that it aired to 30 minutes earlier ON THE DAY it aired. That's just unacceptable.

I think another iffy thing CN did was their treatment of Mixels. When it started, they actually WENT to LEGO to create a collaboration series (it's a CN original, unlike Ninjago and Nexo Knights), and it was going good, with the first year having those weekly shorts that gave good content...and then the specials rolled in. Mixels in LEGO is three series per year...and CN only gave the cartoon TWO half-hour specials a year for the next two years, which meant one series gets a focus (that's nine new characters), and then they have to shove EIGHTEEN new characters into one half hour special, just to satisfy the amount of characters. Though considering its "second season" was made up of FOUR half hour episodes spread across TWO years, airing March, September, March, October for their premieres, and then flat-out ending (I know LEGO has a three-year minimum for their themes, but still)...that shows how invested CN truly was in a show THEY ended up pitching.

I'll tell you one thing Disney hasn't done very good recently: They have these Mickey Mouse shorts that have been airing pretty consistently since summer 2013. But the last known episode aired in late-July, causing me to fall under the suspicion that they cancelled the show for some reason. However, even four months after the last episode aired, they still won't confirm that it's cancelled. That's a pretty shady business idea if you ask me. (EDIT: Disney still won't confirm the shorts are cancelled, but for some reason they gave it a Christmas *and* Halloween special, which makes the above mentioned even more shady) (EDIT #2) They recently premiered the fourth season....But didn't even announce it was renewed (as far as I know). It's sad to see CN dig themselves into another hole after bouncing back in 2010. TTG has pretty much taken over the network while CN's own original shows hardly get the amount of attention TTG gets. Club put out a good article explaining that Steven Universe's "Steven Bombs" were actually the key to the show's success. The reason Cartoon Network does so many bombs is to encourage kids to binge watch on their digital platforms, in a day and age where streaming is taking over traditional television. It's so effective, Nickelodeon decided to use that strategy for The Loud House and it ended up becoming Nick's #1 animated series, even beating out SpongeBob a couple times.

If i was president of cn i would give equal treatment to each show. The ones that get really good views and ratings i would extend promotions but at a limit. Teen titans go is unfairly promoted taking up around 40% of the schedule. Then i would get rid of live action movies so fast it wouldn't even be funny. I would open a huge animating competition or so to bring in new shows and add variety to the channel. And also would hire people to make a rebrand they would put effort in to. My main goal as a cn president over all is to satisfy viewers and make a good amount of money for cartoon network overall. That would be my strategy cn seems to be going for money raking over satisfying their viewers.

I'd still say Nick is worse with their creators considering they always seem to keep them in the dark. What Cartoon Network did with Uncle Grandpa was shady, but they at least told the creators about it. Unlike Nick where they didn't even bother telling C.H. Greenblatt about Harvey Beaks being moved to Nicktoons upfront. But I will admit, 2016 has been very lackluster for Cartoon Network. Very little new shows premired, and with a big chunk of their shows ending, it paints a very questionable future for CN. And while I find their TTG spamming annoying, I don't think it's as bad Nickelodeon's treatment of SpongeBob. They still give most of their originals good promotion and decent time slots when it comes to premeires, and if this coming Monday is an indication, the TTG spamming seems to have settled down a bit, though still heavy. I personally see it as the new Johnny Test.

Keep in mind that Nick used to be its own thing before they were sold to Viacom. There are two sides to every story when it comes to this sort of thing, and like I said, The Loud House and Harvey Beaks are proof that Nick *wants* to get better, but old, shitty habits and Viacom's influence hold it back. I'm of course not saying Viacom's *completely* to blame, but I *am* saying we shouldn't shovel all the blame to one company here. Cartoon Network is no different in this regard; though to be fair, this was less Time-Warner's fault and more their CEO at the time....I honestly forgot his name; something Snyder, I think. Anyway. when he left, the quality increased dramatically, with shows like Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Regular Show to a degree (its humor varies, but it's not bad by any means overall), The Amazing World of Gumball, We Bare Bears and even Grojband hitting the airwaves and proving that CN does have the steam left in it to carry on. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make in all this is that while yes, I have no doubts that Nick's practices are at least partly their own, I don't like this tone of continually shifting the blame to one company as a scapegoat when it's clear the bigger companies behind them make most of their business decisions. In other words, "You're shifting the blame".

Thanks for the video PIEGUYRULZ. It's such a shame to see that cartoon network has gone so downhill over the years especially considering how good it used to be. An interesting rumor I have heard is that the reason Teen Titans Go gets so much favoritism compared to others is due to CN's current management team seeing shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe as too inappropriate for their target audience.

I think the problem is that shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show and Steven Universe are too smart for kids this generation. The reason that Nickelodeon is full of Live action garbage is that it's easier to make than cartoons. I think the influence Nickelodeon has had on children's television is what's made Teen Titans Go so popular. It's a show that wouldn't be out of place on Nickelodeon so it's attracting that kind of audience. Both Nickelodeon and CN are cheap and don't really care about quality to some extent. Honestly I kinda wish the more mature shows from each network were taken off and given their own channel where they can go all out while Nickelodeon and CN can continue catering to babbys.

I don't mean for it to sound like that. I'm just aware that a lot of kids these days are attracted to shows with a lot of noise and movement and don't like to think about what they're watching. I'd know because I have a brother that's like this. He's completely hypnotised by live action sitcoms and doesn't even laugh at them or explain why he likes them.

This generation, like the ones before, is smarter on average than the previous generation; this has been true for as long as we have been observing intelligence. There were always terrible, stupid cartoons since cartoons starting existing; this generation is not special. I'm not certain about how many overly deep cartoons there were... This is not a generational thing at all. Anyway, it would be lovely if you got your head out of your ass and stopped thinking people smarter over what cartoons they like.

6:46 Honestly, I think it's a good thing Nick passed on Adventure Time. It probably would have been a completely different show if it did air on Nick or may have possibly gotten only a few seasons and was then cancelled. Also, Ed Edd n Eddy wasn't passed on by Nick. Danny Antonucci faxed the show to both networks but Cartoon Network snapped it up before Nickelodeon responded. Not to mention Nick wanted creative control over Ed Edd n Eddy meaning it could've been a completely different show as well if it aired on Nick.

This video is a nice insight into what the Cartoon Network channel in America is like and I'm very surprised to hear that Teen Titans Go is on 90% of the time. In the UK (where I am), Teen Titans Go only has like two showings, one at lunch and one at tea time everyday. The other CN shows are spread throughout the day, Amazing World Gumball, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Uncle Grandpa, Clarence, Steven Universe and We Bare Bears are mostly shown on the schedule in 15 min blocks. We will also get the odd show like Supernoobs, Lego Ninjago, the new Ben 10 and Powerpuff Girls show up once a day in a 30 min block. Over the weekend was an Amazing World of Gumball marathon and next weekend is going to be a Regular Show marathon. So yeah I'm very surprised Teen Titans Go is shown a lot on the American CN, when it's barley shown on the UK CN.

Looking at CN tv schedule makes me cry
