I bought a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sport S 2 door in December 2013. I paid $29K after rebates, before taxes. I daily drove it for over 7 years, it was fun to drive and comfortable. I only sold it because I had kids and needed something more practical. Don’t listen to other people, enjoy your Jeep! It was the most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned, literally nothing failed while I owned it. The best part is I traded it in after 7 plus years and got $22K on a trade.

Wish I could tell the same story. At around 20K miles and right after the warranty expired the main CPU module died. About an $1,100 cost. About a year later the oil pressure sensor crapped out($800) and a year later the rear ABS sensors died($750). All after the warranty expired. I averaged about 6.5K miles per year and it was extremely frustrating. You definitely got lucky.

If you are trading it in at the dealership, you really can't trust those numbers... The dealerships will play games with the sale price and trade-in value to confuse you and make you think you are getting a better deal than you really are... To know what you're really getting on your trade-in, you need to negotiate the best deal that you can get on the new vehicle with the assumption that you are not going to be trading in a vehicle... After you get that figure THEN start talking about a trade-in and see what they are willing to give you... You should also get quotes from other used car dealerships like Auto Nation... My experience has been that Auto Nation or Texas Direct Auto will give you quite a bit more than the dealership...

Man, I wish I could average 20 mpg here in NYC! Probably averaged about 15 in the city. About 12 in the summer with the AC on constantly. Loved my 2 door sport. Bought it new in 2014 with the above basic package. Equipped with the alloy rims and Goodyear Wrangler tires, heated mirrors, auto dimming mirror, auto locks , Sirius XM and Freedom Top. The daily drive ability became extremely uncomfortable , especially commuting here and the gas guzzling was a problem as well. Loved taking it camping and on some trails. Nothing beats driving it with the doors off and top off, too! As much as I miss it I was definitely ready for a more comfortable daily driver and found it in the Ford Bronco Sport Outer Banks. Awesome video as always.

I had a 97 TJ and a '13 JK. Both 2 door, manual, soft top, roll down windows, etc. My two options were AC and 3.73 rear end. They fit anywhere, whether on the trails or in town. They're SUPER fun to drive. The main downside is space. I usually just had the rear seats out and then you have plenty of room for gear. But if you want something longer in there (like say a pair of 180cm skis) you're pretty much stuck with them outside the vehicle, and soft top is gonna have to do vertical mount on the rear. That main downside out of the way I think the 2 door is a perfect vehicle for a single person that loves the outdoors, and you don't need a super high end one either.

Tommy did an awesome job picking his first new vehicle. Our first brand new vehicle was a red 1993 Jeep. It wasn’t completely stripped but close. From the factory it had three options-right hand mirror, carpet and a back seat. We had the dealership install a radio, speakers and an antenna. We moved to Florida a couple years later and traded it for a truck with air conditioning.

I love the fact that for someone who runs a car channel, reviewing new cars and holding them against current standards, for his own driving pleasure basically returns to eighties standards and raves about it. Don't get me wrong, I fully and wholeheartedly agree with your decision and conclusion as if it were my own. What I would love to see, not only on this channel but on all channels, is to show some more restraint on the eagerness to accept the next plateau of minimum requirements. Every year the next gen car pushes both the weight, price and service scope of a car well beyond what is achievable for a lot of people. Nowadays a car is practically totaled if you damage a bumper severely enough, so to speak. All the technical requirements, the elevated standards for materials, that annoying tendency to have the entire interaction with your car, other than the actual driving, through these bloody screens, onboard infotainment and onboard tech including wireless charging, apple carplay, massive satnavs, additional safety features like lane keep assist and autonomous driving, I could go on and on about all that stuff that make all these cars outpace and out-price most of our wallets, when all we want to do is feel free like a bird, driving, eating asphalt and creating memories and share moments. Your car is more than adequate for that. I would choose yours in a heartbeat and never look back. thanks for the great review!

The entertainment of driving for driving's sake is a lost thing, I'm afraid. For me, to get that experience, I ride my motorcycle. And even those are getting taken over by nanny helpers these days. Shame. Glad you like your Jeep, Tommy! You are paying for it so you better! For us, we just traded in our old tired WK2 for a newer used WK2. The price on new cars is outrageous. Our new rig listed for $48k in 2015! It's pretty optioned up and we love the creature comforts, but I would never pay that for a vehicle. For $25k we got a very nice rig which will do light off roading when we want it to and drive in comfort the other 99% of the time.

It drives me nuts how many car reviews go on at length about things like heated seats and whether it has a 9.1 or 9.2 inch infotainment screen, but completely gloss over the actual details of the drivetrain. They go on about soft touch plastics and ding cars points if they are too "utilitarian" or feel "cheap" but seldom talk about how well that surface will wear or how likely it is to break if kids/pets/rowdy friends aren't gentle with it. Reviews also put excessive focus on things like 0-60 time; A 70s Chevelle SS could do that in 6 seconds, a 2022 V6 Wrangler with a stickshift can do it in 6.1, a Toyota Camry can do it in 5.1. Yeah the Jeep is "slow," but that is relative. Its almost as quick as a "fast" car from yesteryear.

@@circlingoverland4364 Exactly. Hate that nagging about "soft surfaces". The seats need to hug me, if at all possible, the rest I couldn't care less, don't need a hug from my dash. Fiat, or Maserati by the same logic, actually has better reliability ratings than Toyota does in the modern year. And my real life experiences reflect that. I bought a JL over 3 years ago, it's been heavily abused off road and daily driven on road. It hasn't had a single issue in my ownership and it's had 3 oil changes. My buddy bought a Tacoma about a year after I bought my wrangler. He's never gone on more than so much as a gravel road with it. Despite that, his truck has managed to need a new battery, a new alternator and even a whole new transmission. sitting about $5.5k in repairs in just two years. The notion that Jeep is plain unreliable and Toyota is reliable is about 20 years dated.

I had a 2002 TJ 4l/auto on a RE long arm kit & 35s I daily drove for 14 years, putting nearly 275k miles on it. My 16 year old nephew is about to inherit the Jeep and now its got almost 400k on it Other than having a hard top it is way more spartan than this and I loved every day of it.

Got my 2021 2 DR willys just like this. Picked it up in November. Only thing i did was slap some Duratracs on and bought the 8.4 inch screen. That tiny screen without apple carplay drove me crazy. Its also my daily driver. No complaints.

I bought my Jeep in the early 2000's and daily drove it with a 70ish mile round trip commute. It was a more or less bone-stock in-line 4 cyl soft top with full doors in gold. Didn't even have AC. I loved that vehicle and would still have it now had someone not stolen it from me. I'm finally in the mood to get a new vehicle and I'm taking a chance on the new Bronco, but I would certainly say there's nothing wrong with daily driving any Jeep Wrangler. Great little truck. Glad to hear you're happy with it!

The Willy’s 2 door jeeps and pentistars are going to skyrocket in value when the gas powered wrangler is no more. Base trim means no electronic bs to worry about the pentistar is honestly starting to look like the tundra v8. In my opinion the Willy sport is right next to the rubicon for being the best vehicle that jeep currently makes. This generation will go down in history as one of the best. I look forward to seeing it in more off-road adventures

There is no way in hell we’ll see the death of the gas wrangler any time soon. Jeep makes to many gas powered wranglers and makes too much money off them. Not to mention the infrastructure for charging stations is not where it needs to be.

I used to live in superior but relocated to Bay Area 2019. I immediately purchased a JL Sahara because there was 10k discount by that time. The car has been crazy reliable, and superb good in snow in Lake Tahoe snow falls. However, I never gone off-road, what a shame:).

Tommy get some Carhartt seat covers from Covercraft! Seriously, they are the heavy duck material, custom fit and you can wash them. I’ve had them in my ‘16 Power Wagon since new and when I take them off once a year to wash (commercial laundrymat tumble type) my seats still look brand new. They come in the light tan too and the fit is excellent.

I purchased a used 2018 wrangler JLU . Sport S. It has just the basic interior. Soft top Jeep color Bright White. . It’s my daily drive. I have no complaints. I have the same radio as you . It has everything I need . The speakers sounds great. My last Jeep was a hard top. Not much difference in road sounds. The A/C and Heat outstanding. Everything is well designed. With a lot of thought behind it. I’ve got 45000m on it. With no problems. I look forward driving it every day. If there was one thing I would have done differently It is the color. I should have gotten the firecracker Red. I’m a firefighter . Red fire truck yea. I really wanted red. But couldn’t find red anywhere. Over all very happy with it!

This video caused me to order a base Bronco with a manual, HD bumper, and aux switches…that’s it. When it arrives, it’ll be cheaper than your Jeep but with wireless car play (free GPS), power locks, power windows, STANDARD A/C, and with the savings, I can easily buy tires and a compressor with a rear locker if I really need it. All in all, thanks for this review. I’m glad you helped push me over the edge and save a bit of money getting a new Bronco.

I bought a manual Gladiator Rubicon on July 31st, 2021. I got $5000 off without even asking. Cold weather package and cloth seats but I really enjoy it. I’m getting 21 mpg in mixed driving, but I don’t beat on it. No issues and the oil changes at the dealership have been a fabulous experience. I have 16k miles and surprised I have had nothing go wrong. My first American vehicle in my 30 years of driving. Been very impressed and the tops off are so much fun for the wife and I.

Reminds me of my Lobster Red base Unlimited hardtop model that I purchased in 2013. It had roll up windows and doors and sat on the dealers lot for quite a while. It stickered at a tad over $30k, I purchased it for $27k. I sold it 4-years later with 40k mikes for $25k.

I paid about $37k for a 2012 JKU Rubicon that is fully loaded new, it has been my daily driver going on 10 years now and I love it. I have had a couple of minor problems and love all the extra comfort features. There is no way I could do without the heated seats on those cold mornings, especially in the spring/fall when I have the top and doors off. I didn't need the Rubicon but it had all the extra features included and the lower gears and better axels were nice when I went to bigger tires and lift. With prices what they are right now it looks like I could still get $25k for it, not to bad for a ten year old vehicle.

Love locks obviously… However I did almost every trail in Colorado with my Tacoma a few years back and not once used the locker. Sure I didn’t hit the super hard lines but it was still extremely doable without any need to throttle through things. I have the same one but in sting grey with the auto for my wife to enjoy. Great rig. Feels like we can hunt T100’s with them 🇺🇸🤙🏻🤙🏻🇺🇸
