it causes corrosion because the main fluid in it is water, as opposed to some kind of petroleum oil

I pretty well only use it for tapping now . You have to clean the tools off straight away as it sets solid ! I have not had any corrosion issues yet , but then again i wipe it off straight away . WD40 with a dash of Rocol RTD in a jar is my go to . 👍

Ya, pretty funny the old WD40 pretty well works for everything………..

the anchorlube stuff is great, BUT... 1. it dries out 2. any residue left on steel or iron will cause rust in a day or two 3. it'll go foul and grow mold after 6-12mo I switched to the blue boelube and won't use anchorlube any more

It will discolor your vise or mill table if left on there too.

@@hilltopmachineworks2131 Yes it will blacken/stain cast iron surfaces if left on for long.

Anchor lube sets up in the bottle unless you thin it with a great deal of water. Nothing like squeezing the bottle to all of a sudden getting a great blob of it out, all over anything. Because it is water based it stains any steel/cast iron that it is left on including taps, reamers, dies, and etc.. The best part is that it requires water to wash it off. You cannot get rid of it with petroleum based solvents, so you need access to a sink or other water source, or have a wash bottle added to the myriad of other things on your work station. When mine is used up I will not be reordering the stuff.

I am sure it does work also I have not used it, when enough people endorse it that drives the sales which is fine. As a tapping paste it looks to be fine but what has happened with the KZbin films is the flood coolant is used much less as it makes a mess splashes on the lens which makes a mess and the FANS can't see the chips flying off. All mill/lathes come with a suds pump then came the mist spray set up's which again is fine. Tip cutters play a big part but I watch a lot of YT machining and this full depth cut particular to milling running the end mills too fast with a dab of A-Lube is just for TV Suds coolant does what it says on the tin also if set right will wash chips away. Good TV but not good machining practice but the fans like it but jobs get hot and grow so your tolerances grow.

Looking forward to the results.

Got to admit - after that prop blade video I thought you were going to lubricate an anchor. 😊 I quite like this stuff, but I haven’t had as good results with drilling and milling as others. But I put that down to poor technique on my part more than anything. Looking forward to your experiment results. 👍

Never liked the stuff. Nasty biz. Every Piermart in every Navy Yard issued this stuff like candy. Works OK on brass or bronze but I preferred Mobilemet 45, Trimsol unmixed or MolyDee for tapping. Tapfree or Tapmatic was miles better. There is much better stuff than this being sold today without the staining and cleanup.
