If anything, I’d argue he’s a stronger artist because he had to learn to elevate himself as an artist. From Look At Me Now to Don’t Judge Me to Loyal to Back To Sleep to even now with Residuals slowly on the rise. He’s still R&B’s greatest force and still drops amazing music that sells well, hell he just outsold Usher’s album after dropping physicals six months after 11:11 dropped.

I disagree that Chris didn’t indeed become the next MJ as far as talent and performance is concerned. I think the reason he didn’t blow up as globally is because Chris is more unapologetically Black. He is primarily an R&B singer, and will Rap. Those are primarily and Historically Black Genres. Chris Primarily dates Black women and women of Color. MJ was the King of Pop. He couldn’t help that he had a skin condition that changed his complexion, but he also surgically changed his features to resemble features that weren’t as similar to his previous features that were very Black. He married twice, both were White women, and chose for his children to be 100% biologically white. I often wondered if he would have been a global icon if he would have had his brown complexion and never had surgery. Or if he didn’t go pop.
