I have had a 2 motor lift chair (Ultra comfort) for 11 years and haven’t any problems. I purchased it myself; it was expensive at the time but has averaged out to $138 a year. It has come in handy through illnesses and after surgeries.

Check the comment I wrote about how I got the government pay to rent me a lift a chair in Canada. It might be the same there in the USA. I'm talking about disability. We called disability here in Ontario Canada ODSP. If an occupational therapist assessed you and prescribed that you need a lift chair, that's all you need to show your worker and then you find a vendor that will rent I'll lift chair to someone on disability and then you ask your disability worker if they will pay to rent a lift chair from a vendor. I was absolutely shocked when my disability worker said that they will pay to cover that. They tell you they won't pay to BUY you a prescribed Lift chair but they don't come out and tell you that they will pay to rent one. They don't volunteer disability clients that information. You have to ASK about it! I was shocked when they said nonchalantly that they WILL cover that. I wish they told me that in advance so I didn't suffer all those months trying to sit in a normal chair and sleep in it.

Thanks for the affirmation. Same thing when getting a wheel chair for my mom. It was easier/quicker just to buy the wheel chair out of pocket for her instead of jumping through all the hoops of getting one paid for by medicare. The meager savings realized in the end isn't worth the hastle.

Please tell me this - who manufactures the actual recliner that your lift mechanism is installed into? I'm interested in finding a recliner that is built better than store brands like la z boy. In particular, the seat and back foam. IOW, are your recliners commercial grade quality and can I find out how they are constructed? Thanks!

Golden lift chairs are just made better. All the way around. Some of the cheaper ones come in small boxes and you piece them together like a puzzle. Most all of Golden Lift chairs are put together and ready right out of the box. They will last a long time

4:31 .. How long is the Claim/Qualification process and do we have to wait to buy it? How much will they cover of a $700 chair form Ashley furniture. Only $250? What if you buy the chair in the used market? What if the patient's daughter buys the chair?
@allstarmedical4 жыл бұрын
Most of these questions depend on your insurance. Some insurances allow you to file a claim (the patient) while other require you to go through a preferred provider. As far as I know if you buy from Ashley you will have to file yourself. If insurance pays it will be only for the lift mechanism (around $250) they don't pay for the chair. I have never heard of insurance paying if you bought a used chair and I would recommend the item be in the patients name. I hope this helps. Call us if you need to at 615-730-9438

I have a 2 motor I actually bought at a thrift store it seems to work great but doesn't look great. What's the average life on these motors? Anyway to know if I have a good one? Any signs that they may quit soon? I'm considering having it recovered but hate to if the motor will just end up going out soon.
@allstarmedical3 жыл бұрын
Most lift chair motor last for a long time. We have seen customers have them for over 10-15 years. It’s really difficult to tell if a motor is going bad. Most of them are quite so if it’s loud that can be a sign. I hope this helps.

If you have arthritis in your knees you may qualify for a chair. The biggest thing people don't understand is they only pay for 1 lift motor and not the chair so you will have an out of pocket expense when getting a lift chair through insurance. I hope this helps. I'm in Canada on ODSP (disability) Our system is much like USA in many regards I notice cuz my Friend in Florida's on USA disability. Anyhow, I had an OT assess me in my home, conclude that, cuz of my issues with multiple sclerosis, I qualified for a lift chair. ODSP responded they don't cover lift chairs. What they didn't say tho was that they WILL pay to RENT a lift chair! My ODSP worker filled out paperwork to rent me a chair for 3 months. I asked what I'm supposed to do after the 3 months passes & my ODSP worker said he'll just keep filling out the form saying I qualify for the chair every 3 months so basically, ODSP will pay to rent for the chair for life. Just renewing the application every 3 months. It's all red tape paperwork. But the government will rent a left chair indefinitely/ for as long as you need it that is something they just don't go ahead and tell their clients who are suffering. I only discovered that by chance. The government disability doesn't ADVERTISE it. Curious, desperate ODSP clients have to take a chance and ask about it. Maybe that's the way it is in USA as well for disabled people on government support so go ahead and ask your disability worker if the government will pay to RENT you a lift chair if you have been prescribed one from an occupational therapist. ( If you are on disability and have not been prescribed one by an OTT (OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST), you can get an OT to assess you and prescribe one for you., Approach disability and ask if they will pay the rent one for you for 3 months and then just keep getting them to extended for another 3 months and another 3 months and another 3 months... If the rental- chair malfunctions pretty sure, they will pay to fix it as well. I'm telling you this so you don't have to worry about being able to afford a lift chair if you're on disability. I don't know why they don't tell you bill pay for you to rent one and that you have to go ahead and ASK ... probably because they know a lot of people would if they needed they had the ability to. All you have to do is find a local vendor who will rent lift chairs to persons on ODSP or whatever that USA disability is called. Some disability equipment vendors will rent to people on ODSP and some won't. The lift chairs that they rent have been sanitized completely so don't worry if the chair is used. It will not come to you dirty. There is even a video on KZbin of how to sanitize a lift chair in case you were wondering. Hope this helps somebody who needs one and can't afford one who is prescribed on disability. We all deserve not to have to suffer. Not everybody who is disabled can get into and out of I prescribed hospital bed because I can't lift their legs to get up into the bed. This was my situation and, because of this, this Lift chair is basically saved my life because...where else am I supposed to sleep? Now, I sleep in a lift chair that the government rents for me and I can safely get up without worrying about falling so much.

They don’t just sell the motor mechanism separately . The framework that moved the chair is pretty complex. You would have to buy a chair that has the seat lift mechanism in it and is actually approved and coded by insurance. Hope that helps.
