This kind of chair is great if you're recovering from broken ribs. Idk how I would have coped without it. After about a month of living 24/7 in the chair, I could get up myself and sleep in a normal bed again, so renting it was ideal. Luckily it was a brand new one, which was lovely. Possibly because people can do rent-to-purchase and so the rental place kept getting new ones! Great video, thanks.

My 93 yo Dad is independent living with only mild falls risk. He loves his rocking recliner but I've noticed the rocking makes standing up difficult for him. He doesn't need the lift or the remote controlled recline, but he needs a rocking swivel chair that he can lock in position for safer standing. What should we be looking for?

The big thing is to make sure you maintain spinal flexibility as much as possible. Typically the spine rounds/flattens significantly when sleeping in a recliner, so making sure you prioritize improvements to the lumbar and cervical curvatures is a great place to start.

What do you recommend for someone with inclusion body myositis, which is untreatable, incurable and progressive, and results in motor muscle loss throughout the body: legs, knees, hips, arms, wrists, fingers, neck, back, chest. For my wife, getting out of bed is very risky even with a bariatric bed, because I can't always be there to help her. So she wants to look into a chair for sleeping. I have been looking for a power assist recliner for a while now, but cannot find one to fit my needs. The leg portion needs to go up like the one you used in this video, but I need to also be sitting upright and it needs to have a higher weight limit. Most I find tend to have a 350 limit and I need one that is at least 500, and it also needs to be wider than a normal recliner. Does anyone now if such a recliner exists?

@@joewigginsfortynine Thanks for the tip, but from what I've found they only have 1 chair that goes to 700 pounds and the footrest does not elevate high enough. I need one that elevates up so that if I were to lay flat in the chair, my feet can go above my heart. It seems like the chairs with the higher weight limit do not do this, which is crazy considering they cost over $3000.

We received this in the mail today! The packaging was fine, no damage during shipping thank goodness! The construction was very simple kzbin.infoUgkxXH3jIpsn6vpr3D26KWAriUejh7CSxVp7 , the bottom rocking part and the ottoman were already put together for us which is nice!As for the actual quality, the wood seems fine.. Not too cheap but maybe not the quality you would find in a store for 400$. However, it is still sturdy and feels secure. I've only had it for one night, so of course no squeaking yet.. But if it does squeak it could be easily oiled. The cushions are comfy, and made of a suede like material. Obviously with time these cushions will probably wear and tear.. But for the price of the chair it is still worth it just to go out and buy new cushions that fit in the future.Overall I am very satisfied, I was a little worried after reading some reviews and looking through the photos, but I'm happy I bought it! Obviously it's not a heavy-duty chair, but with care I'm hoping it will last a while.

Remember that if you don't use your muscles you lose your muscle. Core strength is the key to mobility and this is taking away one of the easiest core exercises available, getting up out of a chair. I guarantee your balance and walking ability will be effected if you begin to use one of these. Good luck!

Why isn't the standing assist of the recliner not suitable for someone with balance issue??
@EquipMeOT2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the type of balance issues. The elevated position can be very unnatural at first and we’ve seen some fall forward or simply slide down (this is usually more an issue of weakness vs balance). This is simply a consideration and not a guarantee. My hope is that individuals receive proper training when using them to prevent these issues.
