Gem of a game.. my Dad bought it me when it came out in 08, instantly loved it. Platted it in the first week and currently platting it again now years later jus because i can't help myself. My love for this game would never fade.

Personal opinion, but I enjoy how the guns work, they feel gross to use. It deters me from grabbing them and I much rather continue in stealth. It’s an option but I don’t feel obligated to grab the guns.

It's not a FPS shooter. Definitely skill issue.

Hi there, resident Mirror's Edge expert here (unless there's more of us here lurking?) Just a friendly reminder; Mirror's Edge Catalyst is not a sequel, it's a soft reboot. Many of the themes, character names and events remain, but are switched around, or used differently. Think of it as the game the team wanted to make, but couldn't with 2008's technology. Is it better? Debateable, but I reckon both games are incredible in their own respects.

in terms of 'look' and aesthetics, I feel like this game is proof of style vs technical detail in that having a strong and consistent art style will always outweigh technical realism of the art

Agreed. Both have their merits, but as technology advances, older games that were "realistic" looking will age more poorly when compared to games that were more stylised. Don't get my words twisted, I love how the graphics of realistic games have developed over time, its a marvel of computer engineering.

The original Mirrors Edge is an all-time classic imo. I think it was the first and greatest run-away-em-up I've played, and that is an under-served genre.

Yo your channel is so underrated. This vid def brought up a lot of nostalgia I had forgotten abt since the game isn’t really widely discussed these days

I mean I mostly agree, the parkour here is more grounded, realistic and therefore has a sense of weight and a much higher skill ceiling than its derivatives. However, you have to remember, almost every single game you mentioned is focused on combat. Therefore the movement needs to be simplified. As a Titanfall addict, I cannot imagine a more realistic approach to its movement, it would just make the game insanely frustrating. But I have to say, it would be cool to have a more realistic shooter with elements of Mirror Edge's movement, where you need to use your parkour moves and stamina tactically, instead of spamming as many slides, jumps and dashes as possible.

I think it holds really well. It's not a shooter. It's a platformer.

And, as a more constructive comment, after seeing the video I'm left wanting for a remastered version with improved graphic and that fix some of the ledge issues. Nothing more, nothing less as the sequel didn't quite hit the spot, being more combat oriented, with some levels locked until you defeat all cops instead of always giving you the chance to outrun them.
