With how time loops work because hes stuck in a time loop it would be impossible to go beyond what the loop intends meaning him going to the maw is not possible as it happens after he gets stuck in the loop. I believe he is stuck in the tower until his past self releases him as we see the first time Mono fully opens the door in the TV and thus the thin man begins exiting the TV and going after them but before that there is no indication he even exists during the playthrough. This further proves my point that he cannot go to the maw as not only is it beyond when the time loop ends but he is trapped in the tower until the loop reaches the point where he releases himself from the tower.

yo thanks dude, yeah I feel like a lot of the community has looked over a lot of the lore of LN 2 but I think maybe the number that the kids are has to do with the amount of kids who are stuck in these loops, im not really sure of course it could just be what number loop they are in, mono in his first, and six in her sixth, but that would totally destroy my theory of the shadow children being Mono from older loops and this being the 18th

Consider as an alternative: Its not a loop. He becomes 'The Thin Man', in the same way a new hire at a news station could become 'The Weather Person'. Even if he looks exactly the same as his predecessor, it doesn't mean he is the same person, after all. Merely warped by the tower to fulfill the same role.

Well he can't get out of the time-loop as... well... it's a time-loop. A circle has no end. Mono will keep going on his journey with six, and Six will keep betraying Mono in the end, as Six's personality won't get changed. She will keep feeling betrayed by mono once he destroys her music box. You see, her music box has always been a sort of remedy for her. She had one in the Hunter's cabin to keep her "company". And we saw her being so protective over the music box in the signal tower. But I think Six wasn't fully conscious while being in her Monster-Six-State. We see that she first pulls the music box to her when Mono entered the room, protecting it. But she would eventually come closer as Mono called her, and she even put the music box down, probably wanting to show it. But then Mono continued to destroy it, and she got mad. When Mono had finally destroyed her music box, Six was indeed safed. But I think that the main reason for her betrayal is that she was so angry about her music box getting destroyed - when she was in the monstersixstate - and that she still couldnt think clearly. It's like waking up from a deep sleep.

Late to the party, forgive me. There's one primary flaw in your hanged man theory. If the hanged man was in fact-the Thin Man trying to break the cycle, how would Six end up at the Maw at all? If the cycle were indeed broken, and Mono didn't release the Thin Man, then Six would never have been split in two (Dark Six), never been afflicted with the hunger, and never gone to visit the Maw in the first place, let alone bear witness to the hanged man. Creative thinking on your part, I'll grant you, but the evidence doesn't follow through. I want our boy to break the cycle as much as the rest of us, but this ain't it.

yes, I totally agree, I think I was a bit off there, I was kinda forcing stuff to fit together to give the story a happy ending, but I no longer stand by mono breaking the cycle. I think the larger message of little nightmares, and of mono becoming the thin man, is how children lose their innocence, and tend to become monsters as they grow into adults, the game being a commentary on generational divides, growing up, and the cycle of every generation that attacks the culture of those older then them eventually ending up just like their parents. and this theme only makes sense if every mono grows into the thin man, and every six grows into the lady (which I still strongly believe was the intention, with the placement of the nomes in the games)

@@MoltenMonsters 100% on board with your current mindset. The big nightmare in Little Nightmares is that we become the monsters we fear. None the less, I do believe in happy endings, even if Little Nightmares doesn't. Which is one of the reasons I love the LN fandom. They do not accept the nightmare, and create their own wholesome and happy endings with their talent and creativity. This is as it should be.
