I also use small amounts of protein in my hair routine, mostly in deep conditioning. Having one conditioner that is protein based and one with no proteins at all tends to work well for me since I rotate them every week or every other week.

It's all about finding the right protein treatment for your hair. Many of you who say you are not using protein are, and don't even realize it.
@daniellarodriguez18014 жыл бұрын
giiirl we are in sync. HAHA. I was searching for a video talking about protein and moisture balance in natural hair. I've noticed that my hair loves protein. I don't get much shed hair. I just try to moisturize my hair in a consistent basis. We just have to figure out what our hair needs. Great video tho!

Before I started coloring my hair, I never used protein treatments. Most people don't realize that a lot of products have protein in them. From shampoo all the way to stylers. I think it just depends on your hair and how you treat it🤔
@shalom_snge4 жыл бұрын
Perfect timing. I never use protein treatments and my hair is pretty long and healthy everyone raves about protein treatments but I’m scared it will ruin my hair. However my hair is normal to high porosity. I personally think I get most of my protein from food.
@sherynngofa61754 жыл бұрын
I use protein and moisture every week. My hair seems to like the balance of the two, and my protein is very light (ORS Hair Mayonnaise).
@karenhorton1484 жыл бұрын
Happy Sunday Sisters!!! I too use protein in small amounts regularly by way of Mielle Organics original dc. It keeps my hair well balanced. When I start to see breakage (pieces of broken hair in my sink) I pull out the Big Gun Aphoghee It adds some necessary strength to my strands and I follow up with their conditioner to add moisture back in and my hair feels brand new💖 I don’t need to do this often but once those broken pieces show up I know it’s time Thanks Lexi🌹

I cannot, ever, use protein treatments. My low porosity hair breaks each and every time. So, as much as the "community" says you NEED protein. I know it's not for me.
@stephanieanokye75614 жыл бұрын
For me I have to use products with the lowest amount of protein cause I used the Creme of nature pure honey deep conditioner and when I rinsed it out my gaur was as hard as a rock. I now know my hair is pretty protein sensitive and on the lower side of low porosity.
@Brklyn_NuYawka4 жыл бұрын
@@stephanieanokye7561 YES. If it's one thing these beautiful influencers have taught me was how to set a routine and learn what works for MY hair. And, like you I can only use ONE product that contains some type of hydrolyzed protein...and over time I've learned that hydrolyzed wheat protein is the only one that sits well. The hydrolyzed silk, corn, soy, etc, etc. Will, sadly, damge my hair. I listen to the feel of my hair over the next trending thing.
@stephanieanokye75614 жыл бұрын
Onika Pascal I purchased texture ids deep treatment and it has wheat protein since I have very protein sensitive do you think it’ll work for my hair?
@Brklyn_NuYawka4 жыл бұрын
@@stephanieanokye7561 hmm i don't know..as I'm not a professional. I just know whatworksfor my hair (through trial and error). I've never tried any Texture ID products. I, personally, have stopped any kind of deep conditioning as the last one I did in February left me with a chunk of my hair on the satin pillowcase. I was relaxed then and it's why i ended up going natural, again. I big chopped in June and binged on KZbin videos to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Since learning my porosity level and why my hair's been behaving the way it did, I've only been using one product in my routine that has a type of protein in it's ingredient. And, the Melanin Multi-use Leave-In Conditioner works well on my hair as a leave-in ..it has wheat protein.

I definitely protein treat because my hair needs it. Even now that my hair doesn’t have heat damage the front like to loosen and protein treatments always help fix that. I actually used a protein deep conditioner today

New suby here, I've been using rice water to regrow my hair and I understand it is also a protein treatment. My high porosity hair loves it. Still, I'm very careful not to overdue it. I've recently introduced ayurvedic treatments to my regiment and the combination of the two have yielded incredible results. I'm recovering from years of ignorance and neglect, resulting in alpopecia but I'm happy to report I've made amazing progress and expect to fully regrow all my hair. Thanks Lexi for all that you do. Blessings.

Could you plz share the Ayurvedic treatments that your hair is responding too?
@deborahotchere20414 жыл бұрын
@@fetishspell I use amla and fenugreek in several different ways. I infuse both in oil, I use coconut, olive and jbco, but you can use what works best for your hair. I also add in rosemary and peppermint essential oils. Secondly I make a spritz using aloe vera and mix in a tsp of amla, fenugreek and jbco each, shake well and using a spray bottle apply liberally to hair, daily if you choose. You can also use green or black tea instead of the aloe vera. If using the tea I would add the ayurvedic herbs and let infuse overnight before decanting in spray bottle. Additionally when infusing your oils you can add moringa and MSM powders, not required, but very helpful if available to you. I hope this helps. Blessings.

I have fine, high lift, color treated hair and I'm still low porosity. I went to a professional for a consultation and found out that the color depositing shampoos I use to keep my color fresh have 2 proteins in them that are rather high up on the Ingredient list. I've been setting myself up for failure lol. The small amount of protein toward the end of ingredient lists are enough for my hair. Olaplex 3 helps me out way more.

I've gone back to what my mum used to do with my hair and I do a protein treatment every month. I always mix my protein treatment with olive oil and leave on for 30 mins and once rinsed out, I follow with a deep conditioner to replenish my moisture levels. It leaves my hair so elastic and healthy looking it's unreal the difference.

So, this was informative but currently I am battling Protein Overload. The shampoo that I use doesn’t have any of The protein ingredients that you named , but on the front it has Defrizz/Mend/Restore on it. It is the Maui moisture vanilla bean collection… I recently stop using the deep conditioner because I felt that it wasn’t moisturizing my hair . But Im not sure if I’m making my protein overload worse by using this shampoo or not? Should I remain with this same shampoo, or use something like As I Am clarifying shampoo?
