@@kiezersosay49 look, I had a Blackjack SLS C-1 Fr s and it had the same issue as you have. Endless fret buzz, no matter how high or low the action was. And I kept it for 4-5 years not even playing with it since every time I used to pick it up, I became angry because of the abnormal fret buzz. Afterwards I bought this Hellraiser Hybrid and it’s amazingly good and the 57 66 EMGs sound very pleasant and balanced to my ears without much noise and proper distortion and anything you could ever ask. After years I sold that trash SLS to someone and bought an American Performer HSS fender which I am really satisfied with at the moment… Totally buying these mid-range guitars which are not made in US or Japan comes along with a little bit of risk. So you should be very conscience of what you are paying for and try them out before spending any money. Hope you never have the bad fret buzz experience with any other guitars! @@parsycho i ended up getting the hellraiser hybrid. I did like it a bit, but i didn't absolutely love it. Way down the road i got a hankering for a carvin and got a dc400. Man...as soon as i played it for a second my eyes widened and i thought to myself, "SHIT!" I knew all my other guitars were ruined for me in that very moment. That carvin has a 25" scale and I didn't realize thats what the difference in playability was attributed to. It was SO much easier and effortless to play. About a week later i got a bc rich mockingbird legacy ST(24¾" scale) in a trade and was astonished when it had the nearly the same playability as the carvin. I then realized it was the scale. I even waited about 3 months, before putting my others up for sale...hoping the love that was once there would come back, but it sure didn't. I now have a completely different collection short of my ibanez az242f. Thats the only 25½" scale guitar i had that plays super easy like the shorter scale. Everything else i had felt like it was fighting against me. I have a warmoth s-style ⅞(slightly smaller strat with 24¾" scale and 24 frets) build that my luthier is nearly done building. i had him put tru-oil on the roasted maple neck and it takes while to cure. It was just under 4 months to get hear and my lutheirs had it for 2½ weeks so far...its felt a hell of a lot longer too.

Although I had to do a setup on it and intonate and adjust the truss rod I do that with every new guitar I get. The guitar is flawless and the fact that there was absolutely no sharp fret edges. Ibanez guitars at this price point just do not compare and it hurts me to say that but it is true. I have a decent-sized guitar collection with six Schecters in it. They're all 6 or 7-string models and I bought them all new except one (a Synyster Gates Custom I had to have because it was in that purple/green "Joker" paint scheme). They are, easily, some of my best guitars. I have a Gibson that was nearly $5,000 and a $3,700 PRS that are absolute trash compared to my $1,000 Schecters. Of course, every player is going to be different and every guitar company can make a lemon but, over all, they are great quality and value with good consistency. I bought Japanese-made Ibanez guitars all through the '80s and '90s and they were (I still have them) fantastic. Back around 2012 I was hunting for a new one and had my local shop order a Premium and a Prestige model so I could compare them. I actually thought I would buy them both. The quality was complete sh*t! The fretwork was abysmal, the DiMarzio pickups sounded like mud (I figured out it was cheap pots), and the "satin" neck finish was so raw it made the maple feel like Balsa wood. I thought I was going to get a damn splinter playing them. I returned both and ordered a beautiful Ibanez J Custom instead. That guitar was much better but still not perfect. I played it for a few days and decided I should be more impressed with a guitar costing me more than $3,000. My point is that companies ebb and flow and what is hot and great now is garbage next year but might be epic after that. Go out and play guitars of every brand and buy the one that "feels" right. You're a guitar player. Trust me, your hands and ears will tell you if it's the right guitar. Cheers.

It was in the back and they didn't want to show it because it had broken saddles and 1 string, and was covered in grime and missing a few knobs. I talked them into it. I figured worst case I could get my money out of the pick ups alone. Well, some elbow grease, replacing the broken bits, and re-conditioning the fret board/frets with Gorgomyte, then dropping it off at the luthier for a proper set up for $70 since I'm unfamiliar with a Floyd, it is a nearly new guitar. Deal of the century I tell my wife every time I take it out of the case. Perhaps to the elitists it sucks, but this is a really fine guitar that punchs well above it's price point, let alone what I paid for it.

I spent a number of years playing guitars from a wide range of manufacturer, from the big names to the little names. The first Schecter I played was a Demon-7. It was also, essentially, my first 7-string guitar. I made the decision to buy it after playing it for less than five minutes. I ultimately changed the pickups, but not because the stock pickups were bad. They were actually pretty good. I just wanted to tighten up the bottom end a bit more, so I put EMGs on it, with a 707 in the neck position and an 81-7 in the bridge position. (That 81-7 hits like a precision sledgehammer.) I have had a number of Schecter 6-strings since then, at the various price levels, and the decision to buy those was made about as quickly as with the Demon-7. I then decided to get another 7-string, one with passive pickups, and I found a beautiful black cherry Omen Extreme-7 at a great price. It was awesome with the stock pickups, but when I threw the Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega set on there, it because an absolute beast. There's nothing passive about the sound coming from those passive pickups! Most recently, I found a good price on a Jeff Loomis 7-string (the first Loomis signature model that Schecter made; essentially a Hellraiser modified to Jeff's specifications) that I had been wanting for a while, but the price was always more than I could afford. It was in excellent (like-new) condition for about half of what it cost new. It came stock with EMG 707s in the neck and bridge, and that combination immediately became my combination of choice. The construction of the guitar is so solid that even before I plugged it into an amp the strings rang out strong and clear. Now, most of my playing is on one of those three Schecter 7-string guitars (and I'm typically playing for anywhere from three to eight hours a day), with a significant portion of my 6-string playing on a Schecter Damien. I've sold or given away most of my other guitars. My next guitar purchase will most likely be a C-7 Hellraiser Hybrid (with a Sustainiac neck pickup, an 81-7 in the bridge, and a Floyd Rose tremolo bridge). I look around searching for guitars that are the best fit for the specifications that I want, and it always comes back around to Schecter. Now, I really don't want anything other than a Schecter. Any time I talk to someone looking to buy a guitar, I say "You can never go wrong with a Schecter." And I mean it. They're beautiful, well-designed, and well-constructed guitars that even the peasantry like me can afford. Anyone who could seriously say that "every Schecter sucks" probably hasn't ever played one that has been properly set up, or, as is frequently the case, is a brand snob who values name prestige over quality. No serious guitarist is going to say that "every Schecter sucks," even if they don't like Schecters for whatever reason (e.g., prefer a different neck radius, prefer a different body design, etc.). Did I mention that I really, really like Schecter guitars?

From my experience, Schecter has some of the best guitars I've played. Sure there are better guitars, but for people to brush off Schecter as a bad guitar shows that they don't really know what they're talking about, or they're just on this absurd bandwagon. I'll admit, Schecter can get pretty gaudy with the flashy colors (an example being the Hellraiser series and that quilted red finish many of them have, or the abalone inlays that are sometimes WAY too big, like those bats in the Damien Platinum guitars - which some people don't know that those bats are still in the correct position and can still be used as fretboard markers) but overall, I've found Schecter guitars to be pretty damn comfortable. Its one of those moments where subjectivity is a moot point. Whether or not something sucks, is like saying you like cold juice. It's all on you and nothing else. In the studio all that matters is the tool and that it nails what you want. There is nothing wrong with the Hellraiser for its sound profile. But thats the thing, components have their cost. If I need the SD's N/S combo, or I need the customs in my ESP then I use it. And its a 4 grand guitar. But price is really irrelevant. You pay for what you need. I think I have a very different concept of metal. I'm doing research about those guitars but despite the explanation (helped, so thanks for that) I wasn't understanding sh** about what I was listening. With so many effects I think my first Phil Pro sounds good also.

For an affordable production instrument I really don’t think you can ask for much more. I mean look at the guitar, is it missing any bells or whistles?? It’s “fully equipped” and any guitar is going to need setup for the players individual preferences.
@OutLoudStudios4 жыл бұрын
Yes sir. It is fantastic. It needed quite a bit of fine tuning on the set up but that's not Schecter's fault.

I got the same exact guitar for Christmas with the sustainiac, at first compared to my other,guitars, which none have active pickups,this was a first for me too with active,youre right,it has to be set up,mines goin Monday to get set up with new strings,so far I love it,but youre right, playing active pickups for the first time vs years of passive, its like going from a domesticated cat to plugging into a raging tiger,but with time ill get used to it ,love it and it doesn't suck
@endezeichengrimm4 жыл бұрын
Some of them do have design/construction flaws which makes them impossible to set up properly. Ex: the fretboard is installed too tall, which doesn't allow you to get the bridge low enough to play well and sound good.
@concernedcitizen28983 жыл бұрын
Dont let the origin of manufacture deter you from considering its quality. South Korea makes outstanding guitars and pickups. Thats considered a high end guitar.

Schecter offers the best value for the dollar. Their Solo II Custom is what a Gibson Les Paul should be, for half the price. Excellent craftsmanship. High quality, great attention to detail. Best locking tuners on the market.

Ya because every les Paul owner thinks one thing... Wish I had an entry level instrument this les Paul is not shitty enough I need something cheap and insufficient

A poor craftsman blames his tools. That model is unbelievably good for the price. Not sure if something weird happened to that one before you got it. Schecter makes some of the best guitars I have ever played. Kind of feels like a PRS that floated down the river Styx for a few eons. Should have gotten the Floyd Rose on it too.
@OutLoudStudios5 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love this guitar. I have 2 guitars with floating bridges already and I wanted something for drop tunings which is why I went fixed bridge. I think the setup issue was from the previous owner just letting it sit. After I gave it a full setup it was perfect. For the price I would say it's almost unbeatable. I would recommend this guitar to anyone.

I've owned many schecters and even the low end guitars are made pretty good. But if your not used to shecter guitars it's about the same as playing ibanez guitars. You either like or hate them. 👍👍
@rootinteuton9665 жыл бұрын
What effects were you using? Or was in just the bridge with a lot of gain?
@OutLoudStudios5 жыл бұрын
A little compression, flanger, reverb... The usual sort of stuff that most people have readily available. These pickups are very hot and compressed on their own though. Great guitar.

I'm not gonna say Schecter sucks, but since they're the icon of 7-8string players and Djent folks, it's not my thing. Different style of music for me entirely and I wouldn't have a reason to own or play one. Yes, I know, they make 6string obviously but I'm a Gibson guy, that's my thing. Schecter’s guitars are really nice. Their tech support however , is total dogshit. I bought an E1-FRS with the Sustainiac in the neck and the apocalypse vi in the bridge. I wanted to convert it to a Jake Pitts model. Which is essentially the exact same guitar except it has an EMG in the bridge position. I ask the tech (Eric) if he had a schematic of the Jake Pitts E1 so that I could make the conversion. Or if he could just let me know what I needed to do. He said “the guy that has all the schematics quit and took them with him” . WTF?! Then he goes on stonewalling me for 3 more emails . Explaining that it’s a completely different guitar and he didn’t think it could be done easily. Its the exact same guitar. Just a different pickup in the bridge. They just didn’t care. No answers to any of my questions. I even asked if I could send it to their custom shop and pay out of pocket for postage and labor for the conversion (pickup swap) . He said, “oh, we don’t do that”. This guy was a real ray of sunshine. No help whatsoever. Didn’t care to try to answer any questions. His attitude was horrible. This guy is a tech and couldn’t answer a single question about a pickup swap? He wasn’t even familiar with Schecter’s product line. How in the world is this guy a tech? Anyways, horrible tech/customer service. Nice guitars for the money though.
@OutLoudStudios4 жыл бұрын
Dang bro. That sounds like a circus for nothing. Always sucks when the companies don't seem to care once the product is sold. They are solid guitars for sure though. I think most tech support is just BS anyway. The conversion sounds cool though .I'm sure a local tech could wire it for ya?
