The biggest problem with Ayurveda is we Indians in pursuit of being 'spiritual' or 'proud sanatani', treat ayurveda as a philosophy. It was supposed to be science.! And the one ground rule of science is to test its own validity and continuously keep researching. Ayurveda fell behind right here. The vaidyas still use outdated scrips and techniques to make medicines and criticize anyone who is willing to doubt or change something. A lot of modern medicinal drugs are derived from plants, but they keep researching it constantly and are not hesitant to discard it when proven otherwise. So yeah, being 'traditional' and 'spiritual' has cost us our biggest scientific outlet to the world called ayurveda.

@Shaurya Singh science is not necessarily a part of philosophy. There are overlaps though. And even if questioning is a huge part of spirituality, in this specific context of ayurveda, it never happened. Rather that's the thing I'm pointing out. Nobody questioned it and hence, it never evolved.

It is not science, it is beyond that. Science have limited dimension to measure-practice, when you cant measure with those dimension or go beyond that it become philosophical. While our ancient practices have no boundary of dimension that's why when you try to measure our ancient practices with modern system you will find two element of modern world that is science plus philosophical/spiritual which is impossible to mix with modern system. That is reason they try to reject Ayurveda because it have philosophical element. What it mean, modern science is inferior to our ancient practices be it either Yoga or Ayurveda. If you force science on it they will only take portion which is acceptable to science and discard other portion which will lose full effectivity of Ayurveda, so better not force science to our ancient practice lets just practice Ayurveda as they are. What today Ayurveda is using is very old study (yet still highly usable and powerful) so let government or private fund Ayurveda study, when it start to bloom like our ancient time it will produce new study-way and more prominent result.

It is because that huge funding Modern medicine have surpassed Ayurveda, without funding n research how can you expect Ayurveda to surpass Modern medicine which was using 1000 years old research.

Research doesn't mean discovering new things, it means discarding the old things and taking up the better ones. Ayurvedics still use ancient books and methodologies (which were respectfully good at THAT time). But when it comes to taking up new things, it become a matter of religion and ego. So buddy, it's not about funding, it's about mentality.
