DOES SHAVING MAKE YOUR HAIR GROW THICKER?? NO!! Your hair may APPEAR thicker for a while after shaving, but that does not mean it has made your hair thicker. When people think of shaving, they think their hairs thickness changes and will grow back thicker. No!! It only feels that way for a while. Watch the video to know why your hair may APPEAR / FEEL thicker right after a shave.
Remember, you can not change your hair’s thickness permanently with a razor - the only thing that can help change hair thickness permanently is laser hair reduction - which REDUCES hair thickness , making it thinner.
Of course, while razoring / shaving you must be careful that you do it gently, on moisturised skin, in order to prevent cuts or pigmentation. I also do not recommend shaving the face - since facial skin is thinner and more delicate , if you don’t shave right , if can lead to scars , marks or pigmentation.
To me, laser is the best way to deal with unwanted body and facial hair. It works on actually reducing the thickness and amount of hair in such a way that the hair doesn’t just appear to be thinner and less but even grows back thinner and less in number after the number of sittings of laser that you require. However, for a quick fix - shaving your body hair is completely fine and safe and does not lead to hair growing thicker!!

Hi, maybe it's just more noticeable, many people shave when it starts getting thicker so it simply continue thickening to an extent but then it stops (:. It's also the lack of its thinner part as said in the video, but I agree many videos about this don't mention the coincidence or hair development process and shaving. We also continue getting slowly hairier most of our life after puberty, though some lose part of it when older at one point. And consider that shaving, like waxing are different compromises, many people myself included choose to shave knowing its downsides because it's more comfortable and easy for me at least, other prefer waxing because they stay hairless for longer despite it can be painful and it can hurt more or less individually and depending on how it's done.

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience, it's completely fine, I don't think you're lying, though a minor nitpick may be it's not pretty you say people are lying about this ;), but it's ok may be a vent for you being disappointed about this experience, so I wish for you your shaves are quick and comfy however thick your hair became. It's cool you say you may be mistaken, I'd not say wrong, maybe not about your hair becoming thicker but the cause. I presume the same about myself btw, that I might be misguided. If not personal, but only to understand but if hair was so thin and invisible why did you shave it in first place and where? As some zones of the body may get typically thicker hair over time as others. Did it take just one shave for it to become so thick or it was suddenly over time. It may also be hormones affecting the new length of hair growth as you removed the old hair length.

@@_kill_joy Well that's perfectly ok, figure, no one should feel forced to shave at that and it's a shame some are pushed by bullying and social shaming. The point would be if it's an effect it's temporary, not a permanent effect on the follicle. Those may happen due to the hormones. I "have" to shave my shoulders as a man though (:. At the end it's an aesthetical choice. If the regrowth is too quick due to the fact the hair is simply cut, waxing may be worth some more discomfort but to only put up with monthly and less sincronous regrowth without blunt end, so at the end it may be a matter of priority.

I would say don't shave, wax or touch your hair at all. Let it be. If the growth is too much excessive due to hormal imbalance, just shave once or twice a month and go for laser hair removal while the hair is still thin and soft.

It's because u may be shaving the wrong way...try exfoliating before shaving ......and always sanitize your shaver before and after use ......also u must use a calming and soothing moisturizer after shaving.

Hi, waxing is definitely more efficient and long lasting I admit, probably if it were all prettpy painless and stress free, virtually everyone whould choose that over shaving, like by converse if shaving lasted near as long as waxing little to no one would choose the stress of waxing, eh, hair removal can be really a compromise and a tough choice but I'm glad you found your best method which is fine to recommend. If you reconsider shaving, I'd think the trick to minimize the effect on hair growth is to only start on new zones of the body where hair is already thick dark and visible and not touch hair which shouldn't be dark enough to bother us, but is often very fine or light, to avoid giving ourselves stubble to take care of from then on (:.

@@Aishhhha Oh yeah it should, it takes off hairs which got the blunt tip cause it removes temporarily the entire follicle, so a next one grows tapered. Of course if while we shaved hair simply got thicker from our hormones, which is the main reason, as that's not an effect of shaving. But it may still weaken and thin the follicles over time :)

@@Hanseo10 Hi, it's peach fuzz or finer hair, often along the boundary or "hairline" between a thinner haired or hairless (well vellus actually) zone. It should grow back the same, if it grows thicker, it's already in that process, but we don't see it before shaving as that was indeed older hair.

Male facial hair becomes like beard because it's especially sensitive to male hormones, which is why it becomes similar to head hair in terms of speed of growth, sometimes a bit thinner often even thicker and prickly than on head. Adding up: hormones effect are seeing on new hair, so if old hair has a length limit and we remove the length, the new length is thickened by hormones, but that eventually happens sooner or later.
