We had these on clearance at my store for $39, so I picked one up to try. I'm honestly a fan. I have quite a few Leathermans that I rotate through depending on my plans for the day, and I wouldn't put this up there with the Surge, Wave, P4, or Supertool, but it's half the size and feels much lighter in the pocket. The knife blade leaves a lot to be desired, but otherwise I find the tools pretty useful. It's nice to be able to flip it open one handed, the 3d Phillips is great for light tasks, and the pliers have a lot of leverage and come to a nice point. The bit driver isn't my favorite, but if I plan on needing different bits I opt for a different tool for the day. This works great for warm days when I'm wearing gym shorts and don't want to weigh them down, or for around the house when I want to have something convenient in my pocket but I'm not far from my toolbox.

As a life long construction worker I've bought dang near every multi tool on the market over the last 15 years looking for one that is atleast decent in all areas. As far as im concerned the SOG power pint multi tool (smaller version of this tool i believe)is the winner as of what i edc right now. I don't know if he is just being overtly nitpicky or just hadn't really used many multi tools in the field but I'm in love with this little power pint. It's small and light weight for what it is(18 tools). Yes the metal could be better but i have no issues so far. The Absolute best aspect is the center mounted bit driver. Most multi tools are off center well if your having to screw in a right screw or mess with any flat head screws its a pain and awkward when it's off center. Another ferrite that beats the competitors is the geared opening. It's so smooth yet had enough tension not to flop around doing it one handed. Coming from someone who literally uses a multi tool for hard use on a regular basis(cause im lazy and hate going back all the way to the truck some times) the SOG power pint blows the competition out of the water every time!

No doubt, the PowerPint is my fav to. I dunno, some tools are great, and are more preferred for different activities, or general needs. Only tools I don't care for, or need, is the serrated blade, and wish it was a wood saw instead. Planned mod at some point. Don't really need the cross tip driver, bc the flats work on those screws to.

While the description says "tool only" it does come with one each of a bi-metal kzbin.infoUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI and HCS blade plus an adaptor plate for non-DeWalt blades. Wish I had known that before I bought the blade kit, but oh well. Since I already have a DeWalt drill, charger and batteries there was no need to buy more of those so this was a great deal.There is one other consideration. DeWalt does't sell the depth guide separately so you need to buy the three parts which make it up -- the N275350 block assy, the N275341 metal rod and the N278801 knob. Amazon does sell all three.

I actually consider this probably my favorite mt and have been carrying it for about 3 years rough use. I like the size, mainly it's slimness, for the amount of tools you get. I like how the tools can be unlocked with it closed and the array of screwdrivers. For the bit driver, the added material to the jaws prevents the gears from gouging the palm and comes in handy as a light use hammer.
@michaelkeselman Жыл бұрын
I've only had it for about a month, and yeah the painfully small knife constantly needs tuning up, but it's still quite functional and pretty easy to learn to deploy one-handed. The hotspots don't bother me and the slim and light design make carrying it totally worth it every day, even with an extra dedicated EDC blade. Buttery smooth operation. I wouldn't pay 60- 70 but I got mine for 36 so I'm happy

I even tried the Gerber center-drive. I like the SOG better then all the others by far. My main issue with the wave is unless you are careful it with pinch your palm every single time your pliers slip off a nut or whatever you are trying to grip onto. It hurts like hell and you just want to throw the thing at the wall. The Super tool was my favorite for a while but all the tools are on the inside and that gets annoying. There is no more repair dept and they do not warranty the old lifetime warranties sog had prior to being bought out, now it’s a 1 yr manufacturer defect warranty. Honestly, I want to like SOG’s products, but I’ve had bad experiences with their QC. My Switchplier is essentially useless because the plier mechanism is stripped. Okay interesting, I liked the look of the Powerpint but the compound leverage pliers I thought may perhaps be overengineered, at least to the extent of there being more working parts which can go wrong. It wqs probably their learning curve multi tool. Many years later , I bought the Leatherman Surge, and it made the SOG MT feel like a toy. The SOG knife blade and file and screwdriver do not have a liner lock or lock back. You have to fold the pliers down down and fold handle back to prevent the knife or other tools from folding over and cutting your fingers off. It looks like SOG has come a long way from 30 years ago. I used to swear by the sog. Carried one for 12 yrs. Never liked the leathermans. But could mostly day that was because the sog was a 1 handed open and could do so like a butterfly knife. I ignored the fact that all the tools were flimsy, always broke them, could never get a grip on any bolt for the same reasons you mention and I have big hands as well. The screws kept coming loose making it flimsy and constantly in need of tightening. The compass was nice (drywall) and I liked the measurements (although hard to read) along the handle. But it failed me consistently. I really wanted to like it. I mean that butterfly opening was so very helpful in so many situations. And then, fed up and irritated with sogs customer support, I found the leatherman free p4. One handed open (butterfly), magnetic, free flowing, substantial tools. I was sold. So if a company produces a good product then in turn is true to their customers with a good warranty they earn my business and I'm not knocking SOG's customer service I just don't have any experience with them but I just prefer a Leatherman or Gerber's feel and quality and that comes from personal experience. 👍 Good fair review. I was disappointed that one of the comparison tools was not the Victorinox SpiritX - the best multitool on Planet Earth! 🙂

I’ve never had one but I’ve randomly found two discarded over the years on job sites.. so that’s either a good or bad thing. Hmm. I wanna try it cause the clip. I feel like like I could overlook downsides if it clips into a pocket nicely.

I rock the skeletool every day at work and has the blade in 154 cm does everything I need and I still have stuff I haven’t had to use yet but one day I know I will need everything it has on it. No it doesn’t have an awl or can opener but if I needed to open a can I think I could make the skeletool work for that. They had put the skeletool in 154cm blade steel on the discontinued list on blade hq so I ordered a backup just in case. Lol love my skeletool & if the skeletool doesn’t cut it the wave has a plethora of tools that get it done. Yes I have a wave and a crunch and an original multi tool that still works just fine. 😁

@@gideonstactical maybe if they can use the Cold steel quality...Also those strange side parts of the SOG Powerassist and Powerlock, they don´t have good ergonomics and all overall build quality in direct comparison with Victorinox.

I keep a skeletool clipped to my belt loop everyday at work. I love the convenience it provides without having to give up pocket space. Got excited when I saw the size and number of tools that SOG had. But super disappointed now lol.

My top 5 multi tools all time for durability and functionality are as follows. I have carried all listed quite a bit at work as a Technician. #1.) Leatherman Surge. #2.) Leatherman Wave. #3.) SOG Power Assist. #4.) Leatherman Super Tool 300. #5.) SOG Power Pint. My list is my own opinion except the Surge. If you don’t agree the Surge is the GOAT your opinion is wrong.

Or a Leatherman Rebar, same price point. I like the small SOG micron II Keychain knife & the lil SOG Mac V tool coupled with it. On the fence about this multitool, looks like it has a good threading awl, but Naw.

I am baffled by SOG! The compound pressure from their geared pliers is amazing it quite literally can provide more grabbing pressure than any other multitool of its size range and even many larger! So in that one way it is quite literally superior to every other multi tool available… And it’s inferior in every other way. I just want to slap them around and shout “why? why! why? Why!”

Yes, that is hard to explain. I still like my powerlock though. I just don't carry it as an edc cause it's too heavy.

Excellent video. The Sog brand is quite an issue..... On the one hand, I really like the concept, even more so in the case of the compact size ones for EDC; but the finishing details often require touch-ups or modifications with a mini lathe to a recently purchased tool. I have a Leatherman WAVE+ and a MICRA, and I am extremely satisfied, although I saw in several forums that several people had breakage problems with Leatherman. I also have two Victorinox multi-tools and I think they are of superlative quality. Greetings.

Okay multitool. Light weight with a pocket clip. SOG flip pliers are nice. Since I paid only 40$, I have no regrets.

I purchased one about 2 years ago primarily for the accessible tools on the outside and lesser degree the pliers & driver bits. I have had no problems at all - for what I need. HOWEVER 1) as you point out the blade is junk. If you are looking for a multitool that has a usable blade - look elsewhere. 2) the metal is soft and the pliers strip out easily. So if looking for hard use pliers - again look elsewhere. For most people a multitool without a decent blade or pliers is just a chunk of metal in their hand.
