the stainless steel is a great catalyst, so it accelerates the chemical reactions that will break the molecules responsible for the smell that sticks in our hands, and then they get washed away.

It won't diminish the flavor to the point of having a tasteless dish, but that's the main reason kitchens smell good after a good clean, is not just the soap you use to clean it, the steel makes the work too

I have one my mom had forever and gave to me. I HATE how my hands smell after handling onions! This thing actually works! I just get a dab of Dawn and wash my hands with it like its a bar of soap and it legit works.

Why screw around with this stuff? Just wear nitrile gloves, the stink is on the gloves. When you're done just strip off the smelly gloves and toss the smell into the trash.

@@sadface the amount of energy that went into producing these stainless steel nuggets and transported them to the consumer is far more than what was needed to create an entire box of nitrile gloves. besides we will have little robots with bio-enzyme recylcers inside of them, trawling around landfills and shorelines consuming and recycling plastics within the next 20 years. Calm yourself. Stay strong and hang in there kitten. It gets better. Stop AAPI hate. Black lives matter. Fight the patriarchy. No human is illegal.
