Klay playing like a minimum contract player making 40+ mil. Wiggins played similar, while making 30+ mil. Draymond missed 20+ games. The Warriors still won 46 games despite that, why do none of these pundits apply context? The answer is they have been prematurely pushing the "End of the Warriors" narrative for years now, and theyre getting impatient.
@isaacdebeila8085
@isaacdebeila8085 16 күн бұрын
they do that to every great who is against the narrative, Tom Brady went through the same thing after his 4th-5th title Kobe and Duncan went through the same, only guy who hasnt gotten that was Lebron who was and still is a media darling, in football you have the treatment of Messi who get Lebron treatment while Ronaldo get Curry, Duncan and Kobe treatment

@@isaacdebeila8085 I agree, LeBron never gets full blame for being in the Build a Bear factory for a majority of his career now. This is despite him being "clearly better than everyone" outside of Jordan. Messi at least didnt ring chase and won with his country. Messi is flawless compared to LeBron

@@ZimMillNone of them teams wants to see GS in the 1st or 2nd round, and now they’re the hunters. I do think GS bench is going to surprise people. If Kerr mixes it up and give Moody some real playing time to grow then GS has another gem they can use. 1. Steph 2. Wiggins 3. Kuminga 4. Green 5. Loon. 6. Podz/Melton 7. Heild 8. Moody 9. Kyle Anderson 10. TJD/Post This line up only has 1 shooter but Steph as an decoy always work, then having Wiggins and Kuminga, who both be 2 legit lockdown perimeter defenders, lob threats/slashers on the wing to counter most teams. If Kerrs going to mix it up, by giving them their own set of plays for them specifically it’ll help in preserving Steph!! Having Green anchoring that defense to have them all in the right spot with Loon will be good. I’d rather have TJD coming off the bench as a lob threat/rim protector. The bench can have fun, and run the floor, I think that 2nd unit will catch people off guard. Moody is due for a jump? Heild is an elite shooter. Kyle IQ with either TJD or Post? Podz looking better as well from what I saw in the Olympic scrimmage. GS might shock a lot of people.

Almost all nba analysts have completely forgot about wigs this offseason, they treat him like a non-factor, that's why so many people have warriors so low on their predictions. Other than steph, the spotlight is definitely on kuminga so there's literally no media coverage on wigs. If wigs takes this as an opportunity to better himself mentally and come back with no off court issues, then he is the real X factor, not kuminga...not yet. @@iamtheonlywilly

Those don't show up in the stat sheets. Getting uncontested rebounds and passing when the one you're passing to did the work ball and you get credited with an assist aren't impactful. Oh. When US was guaranteed to lose steph carried everyone on his back. Oh, let's not forget bron was literally benched in the finals cause he couldn't even run point guard and kept turning the ball over. And let's not forget. Bron average a whopping 3 pts in 4th quarters per usual. Bron's entire claim is cause he puts up rebounds and assists to pair with his ball dominant system. It’s a different sport and as much as I don’t like the dude bc of the privilege he got, Tom Brady is an example of an athlete that was totally not athletic, but had lots of college experience. He had seen a lot and relied on work ethic, chip on the shoulder and going hard on IQ of the sport. Like you said Alch, given the keys and the right environment for cultivating success, you can get a lot out of a player. You just have to have an organization with a system and culture in place, and a piece that believes and wants to buy in on it and take the reins.

I don't think we whiffed on Markkanen either. We avoided a disaster. I don't think Markkanen would suffice for how much depth we would have traded away and then the hopelessness of having no draft picks down the road when Steph and Draymond are gone. I'm so glad we didn't give up the farm for Markkanen.

So the over 38 rule actually isn't new. It's been around since the 1990s. It was 35, then 36 and now it's 38. it's graduated in age as player's retirement age has gotten older and older using Lebron as the extreme version of that. What sparked the change from 36 to 38 is pretty interesting though. In the 2016/17 CBA Chris Paul was the Union president and just so happened to be 35 when the CBA was expiring. Rule got changed to over 38. CP signed that max deal with phoenix for 120M. 🤣

He can only sign a one year deal because of the CBA rule. He would have signed for more if it wasn't for that rule. The fact he chose to sign it now versus waiting and seeing if Warriors can put a roster, 100% means he's showing good faith. Remember he doesn't have to sign anything now. He could waiting until his last year of contract two years from now and see what happens.

Maybe they know something we don't. Thats what I hope at least. Also, in the end, taking less money only helps if the rest of the money is used to pay more good players, and that's not guaranteed. So maybe it's just better to have the money and a bad team than no money and a bad team. I would think like you that taking a pay cut makes sense, but I have no idea what that type of money can be used for and what other considerations they have so I guess we'll just have to see what happens

I mean signing a deal in the NBA does not, in any way, mean you can't/won't still ask to be traded. But given who Steph is I've always thought it wasn't a real possibility. It'd only happen if Lacob said "we are rebuilding and want to give you a choice to leave" but Lacob would never do that either. Franchises would kill for a GOAT who only wore their jersey. So both sides are stuck together no matter what. May as well get paid for it lol

Steph has the Jokic problem. On a shot to shot basis he doesn’t take extremely difficult shots, primarily catch and shoot 3’s and lay ups. Jokic takes hook shots and lay ups. They’re not flashy, they’re not high difficulty, even thought in both cases to be as effective as they are at those shots is difficult. Like you alluded to, you look at some of those shots and on a shot to shot basis think, ‘I can do that’. The part that makes them under appreciated is they’re effective. In fact more effective then the step backs, isos and spin fades.

Interesting point. The best players are the ones who know how to consistently find the easiest, most efficient opportunities for themselves and teammates, and turn to difficult shots only when they have to and still have the ability to make them at a high level. It's sad that people value flash over playing smart. Not every basket in a game should be a highlight. When Steph shoots off a screen, it's not because he needs it, it's because there's a better chance it goes in just like any other player. It's not much different then bigger guys running a p&r to get a switch onto a small defender who doesn't stand a chance. It's easy, smart offense designed to generate a good shot or an advantage that can be extended into one. Yet I don't see anyone going around saying they 'need a screen' to score, even though p&r is a screen by definition and as a result an easy scoring opportunity was generated. So it's pretty much the same. In the end, like alch said, all those people are either lying to themselves or lying to us or both

Isn't his message a little inconsistent though? He takes the MAX which of course he deserves (although other guys are taking team-friendly deals to help them get a better roster and actually WIN: see Brunson, Jalen.) but doesn't help the salary-cap strapped team with flexibility to keep them loaded to contend. Essentially, mo money means not contending for the remainder of his career. If Steph doesn't get another sniff at a chip then he himself is somewhat to blame. Everyone is bemoaning how we can't waste Steph's last few prime years but his contract almost guarantees it will now be wasted.
