MILEAGE UPDATE! By the end of my time with this 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser First Edition, my total drive average was 17.1 mpg (13.7 l per 100km for my Canadian friends). While I didn't test it specifically, the hybrid seems to make it relatively efficient in the city. Perhaps we'll do test that on the next Land Cruiser drive. Instead of complaining about whether this is or not a true Landcruiser, I applaud Toyota still manufacturing non-appliance cars, that can be kept for decades. I’m just happy to see a review of a car that doesn’t require a plug.

Agree. How crazy is it that today Toyota builds a bunch of the best drivers cars on the planet?
@coryrood4 ай бұрын
I disagree, I think the better buy is the Land Cruiser trim with Premium Package, you get everything of the FE except the roof rack, rock rails, and mud flaps. I can buy some pretty sweet roof rack, rock rails and mud flaps for the $7k delta.

Fair enough. I'll look further when I get my hands on a Premium.

I have both and you’re right. Wife has the premium and it’s the same with 20 inch vs 18 wheels and just diff rack and boards.

I have the first edition in blue, have put around 5000 miles, I like everything about it except maybe the small tank, but I can live with that, one thing no one talks about is it has no rattles, I had new Tacomas and tundras, this thing feels better put together if that makes sense. I was getting around 24mog before putting on bigger tires, now down a couple
@BrianMakse4 ай бұрын
Totally agree, so well screwed together. Feels like it'll last a million years. Glad to hear about your mileage. I didn't test the truck long enough to try to do better.

Must be some other vehicle you drove because the one I drove is LOUD.😂 And the paper thin mudflaps was found hanging after my test drive on the way back from the dealer. The quality is so not what you’re describing😂

What were the $20,000 of options added to the base model to get to as tested?

I like the design of this, the price is 😬😬😬

I really dig this thing. Does everything exceptionally well. After a few more days of contemplation, I may arrive at a point where I decide that this is the best SUV at its price point.

I LOVE TOYOTA!!!… BUT I Test drove the 1st edition and it made me love my 4runner even more now. The LC is more narrow inside. Were not missing much from this slightly lifted turbo 4cyl scion box. But then again that would be something most new Toyota buyers wouldn’t understand. This a loud drive and the materials used is noticeably thin. That rear thin window and then the rear mudflap found hanging after my test drive was embarrassing. Toyotas prime days are OVER. I would never take this offroad long term wise. Toyota is riding on the nameplate now for the money. 🙈

I'm starting to think that this is the best way to spend 90k Canadian on an SUV.
@sunnyvalentino4 ай бұрын
I love this suv EXCEPT the driving range of this and the Tacoma is abysmal with greatly reduced fuel tanks vs prior gen GX and Tacoma. Assuming you keep some fuel in the tank, you will refill at 280 to 300 miles.

Try 200 at best. I have one

I got 280 miles on my last tank in this tester.
@user-rw7xd7qy3j4 ай бұрын
@@BrianMakse Yes, however, we're talking about when you want to refill the tank and not run it dry. If you assume you want to leave a third of the tank full as per the manual you would fill it up at around 200 miles at best. Many Land Cruiser owners are looking for aftermarket aux tank increases. It's a shame land Cruiser didn't make it larger. I could barely overland to the mall let alone to a trailhead

Great vehicle but it is not a Land Cruiser. They should call it FX or something like that. No luxury and no size.
@coryrood4 ай бұрын
no size? the 250 is wider than the 300, is only marginally(something like 3 inches IIRC) shorter and has the exact same wheelbase..... I agree, heated and ventilated seats are no luxury 🙄

Obvious you have no clue what you are talking about, nor have you driven one. Actually you don’t have to worry about it because you can not afford one.

Everything is these days ... it's ridiculous. I could "afford" this if I wanted to - but 75k for a car is WAY too much IMO. My '21 4Runner TRD Pro has 49k miles and should last me another 150k easily. For now, I'll just keep it and its bulletproof reliability. That said, KBB lists my trade-in value for about 5k less than I paid for it in '21 ... no, no, 75k is too much. :D

Great video! Toyota failed to build a worthy LandCruiser. Turbo and a Hybrid? Really, more complexity than space shuttle!!! It does not do justice to use the nameplate. This new version diminishes all the previous generation of the LandCruisers lineup going back decades. A very poor execution and over boosted with all kinds of electronic gadgets. Much like the current Honda Accords and the Toyota Camrys failed to deliver what the company stood for decades. What is happening with the auto industry!!!! The Mazda MX-5 is the only vehicle that is keeping the true heritage.

Glad you enjoyed! You can get a basic version and I'm sure I'll test it soon. Plus, our Lexus GX (which I'm testing soon) is sold in other markets as a Land Cruiser, which has totally different drivetrains. Interested in driving that one and I'm taking it on the same off road trail as this one.
