@@philipjames3526 Eh. The 765RS was overhyped. I rode a couple of them and really didn't feel any different to my 675R. Shame the Thruxton was stupidly uncomfortable.

In my likely jaded opinion, Triumph have never been able to re-create the lightning-in-a-bottle magic of the 675 Street Triple & Daytonas. As a STriple 675R owner, nothing they've made since sings quite so beautifully, pulls so damn hungrily or handles quite so sweetly as the 675 range. I've tried the 765 range and was underwhelmed, so much so that I passed on trying the 660. Lack of power and not having quite the same beautiful induction, F1 sound that the 675 motor puts out were deal breakers for me. Damn shame that Triumph have fallen off quite a bit in a market where they were so damn dominant. High-revving triple, slick colour palates (black & gold for mine!) and that sexy af twin undertail exhaust system (thank you SO much Euro regs for RUINING things). Will always love the 675 Triumphs.

I was recently in the market for a cheaper sport commuter and was debating waiting for this bike to come out. I decided to get the Tuono 660 Factory instead (basically an RS 660 with handlebars). It has slightly more HP, 50 lbs lighter, fully adjustable front and back suspension, quick shifter and IMU for like a $1000 more? I had a feeling the Daytona would get a "good enough for a commuter" reception so it was a no brainer for me.

This bike is incredibly comparable to the older ones, the 675 was actually further from a true Daytona then this was as it was a ridiculously aggressive super sport. I know what you mean but as a former owner of a 2010 Daytona 675, I definitely didn't want to something like this. I now own an Aprilia RS 660 that I bought as a stop-gap until a new Daytona would be announced. I have to admit that the RS 660 is a way better value proposition than this Daytona and while looks are subjective, I think the RS 660 looks way better too, at least to me. I might be over-simplyfing but the Daytona has always been based on the Street Triple platform. While I had hoped that they would continue that, I sort of expected that they would go this route. Who knows, maybe they'll come out with a proper Daytona based on the current-gen Street Triple some day? I can only continue to wish for that (and no the Moto2 Daytona does not count). I would definitely trade-in my Aprilia for that triple again.

@@kw4n1987 I LOVE the Daytona. I still do. But I wanted something I could ride for long distances and was really wanting something with a few rider comforts. I've taken the Daytona to the track several times and I just think it's hands-down the better of the two for me on the track. The RS 660 is nice on the track too but its foot pegs are too "comfortable" for track days, so I am getting aftermarket rearsets which should fix that problem. It'll allow me to change footpeg positions accordingly. If there is a single feature in the RS 660 I like, it has to be the cruise control. It's a sport bike with a not-too-agressive riding position and it's good enough for the track that I can still have fun with it. But I definitely miss the Daytona. Judging by how quick the new Daytona is straight line I’m curious if Triumph is being a bit conservative on its hp/torque figures. It does 0-200 kmh in 12 seconds flat. To put into perspective the MT09 does it in 11.8. So it’s only 2 tenths slower than an MT09, which is a very quick bike… triumph does underscore their hp figures, the Street Triple RS is proof, it dyno’s 5 more whp stock then Triumph claims at the crank… and that does 0-200 in 11.3 seconds. So only 7 tenths behind a Street Triple RS…

R/S incoming?

What a shocker, a Triumph that doesn't handle, especially carrying the legendary Daytona name, it was gonna have to cream its rivals like the R7, GSX-8R and even the great little Aprilia RS660 to justify carrying the Daytona name , just look at the Street triple RS to see what Triumph is capable off, truly shocking!

The early Daytona’s were more street oriented, the more relaxed ergonomics of a 2004 Daytona 600 or 2006 Daytona 650 are basically identical to this bike…

Wouldn't look out of place with an L plate on it tbh, sorry, not a patch on the old 675 classic

Triumph Hinkley (Trinckley) at their best - selling fashion gear, but no pro tools. They made the odd mistake to bring the world the Daytona 675 that allowed them to play a round in the pro-segment, but now they got back to toast and marmelade.

RS 660 is way more expensive compared to R7/CBR/Ninja 650 or this. But also the only one that comes with adjustable suspension.

Triumph have a habit of making poor choices when recycling names. The original Thunderbird and Thunderbird sport were similar bikes in principle, then the 2010 onwards Thunderbird was big cruiser. Similarly, the Daytona had a reputation as a hugely capable, fantastic handling sportsbike, and they recycle the name for a poor handling, sporty commuter bike. At keast in the case of the Thunderbird you were getting more than the name suggested, in this case, it seems buyers are getting less. I suppose they saw Yamaha get away with repurposing the R7 name and thought they could do the same.

I'd take all the competition over this

For the same money….just get the 765r. It’ll suit you better for longer.

The Question is, are people buying 600 super sport bikes anymore? or is it a return to a fast sport bike that compromises for day to day work and equipment spec to get the price down, which is badly needed, everything is so very expensive these days. 95hp from a 660 with 12:1 compression, feels detuned to not compete with the street triple.

It seems very low in the back just from the looks. Nothing a different shock cannot cure but this is not how these games are played I am afraid :D

I still remember having the latest super hot 600 sports bikes in the early 90's which had just under 100hp and I remember them being loads of fun and never found them to be slow. I think id rather that than 140hp

Those clocks look so cheap compared to just about every other bike in this sector. They also fit them to the street triple R. 😢

Why not just freaking bring back the Daytona 675 motor FFS and in a more street comfy package. That motor is perfection. Turn down the wick a spec and be done with it.

Once again, it's really nice to see a faired bike, but i really hope Triumph makes a 765 with proper components for 2025. This bike is weaksauce in my opinion and 1000cc superbikes are to much power and to expensive, so i really hope we get a Daytona 765 to compete with the Yamaha R9 Is it so hard for manufacturers to built a proper faired sportbike with 130-160hp and high end components?!

And the clip-ons are attached to the triple tree. That sucks. Its nothing in common with a Daytona besides the 3cly motor. Why😢

Not for me I’m afraid I think I would be disappointed with it after owning a proper Daytona I don’t think it aimed at me more for the younger rider who maybe just passed a test I agree should not have the Daytona name just like the trident should not be a trident for me I have 1200RR that should have the trident name

For this price, get the CBR650R. If you to put more money and dont mind 2 cylinder, RS660.

The Daytona is faster than both in a straight line by a lot. Daytona 660 0-100 kmh: 3.1 seconds 0-200 kmh in 12.0 seconds. RS660 0-100 kmh in 3.9 seconds 0-200 kmh in 14.4 seconds. CBR650R 0-100 kmh in 3.4 seconds 0-200 kmh in 16.2 seconds. To add more perspective, an MT09 does 0-100 in 3.1 seconds and 0-200 in 11.8 seconds. So the Daytona is a very quick bike straight line… Top speeds are all similar real world, around/a little over 140 mph. The Daytona is impressive.

So the Daytona was given the R6 treatment - replaced by something very different that really cannot be compared with the predecessor... Oh well, new CBR600RR is here!!

This Daytona 660 is almost identical to the Daytona 600 and 650 from the early to mid 2000’s in terms of ergonomics, it just makes a little less hp… even then the new 660 is very quick. It’s only .2 seconds slower in a 0-200 kmh sprint then an MT09…
