Mr Trapp you are probably the last person on the planet who needs to explain himself. I would guess most people would feel like myself in that we feel incredibly lucky to have someone of your ability share your talent which both teaches and inspires. Mr GT, first, get well soon! its not only your phenom playing/musicality that keeps me coming back to your sharing, its that you are just being you. What a huge relief to vicariously participate in the life of a real-life master musician who is just being himself. And as to CAGED, for what its worth, i can "testify", that when i got it, my playing/improvisation went from 10-60 in no time at all. So, glad you keep on about this.

I have become a new fan of yours and Uncle Larry's content. Thanks sincerely, Guthrie, for taking the time from your personal schedule to share what I'm perceiving as pearls of wisdom with the stuff you're blessing us with. I'm 54 and recently picked up my old Yamaha acoustic and started playing consistently again about 6 months ago, and I'm practicing and trying to learn why this sounds like this and that...The little theory I do know has helped me tremendously with the caged system. I heard about it from my first guitar teacher but I didn't understand it until about 6 months ago. If I was a young person learning the guitar that would be without a doubt the route I would travel. The way you broke the shapes down everything is right there as far as your triads and other chord voicing. I wouldn't make a pimple on a guitar player's ass cheek, but I enjoy playing it and it makes me happy learning new things. Thanks once again and pay that New York Speeding ticket. We need you to remain a free man.

GT, man, thanks! Just thanks! I was one of the people that thought you should have a better mic, maybe a better cam, some acoustic treatment in your playing room, maybe edit some stuff so the video become more organized. But, you are right! I didn't understand what you were trying to do. You simply want to focus on the music! Not to make a gorgeous well-edited and produced video. Not because you cannot do it. But that would diverge you from playing music - and that's the whole point of it all! Please don't blame some of us. We're just used to see the same "pop" video style. And please don't change. These videos are pure gold! I always learn so much from them!! And, also, it's nice to see that a world-class guitar player also has concerns and struggles in life. I feel more connected than ever, and so so inspired to play more! Thanks!!!

You just keep getting better! 🤪 BTW, I have the same head, w/o my hat. Don't feel bad. (My pretty wife LOVES it! Especially the feel! She likes it "nubby.") And my parakeet used to love it (Tikki, RIP). That silly bird used to try to stand on individual hairs without them bending over! But he could only do that after a fresh buzzcut. Once it started growing out again, the hairs would bend. So, your better believe when I got back fresh from the barber shop, he'd be roosting on my head! LMAO. If I could post a photo, I would. But there's one on my googiee profile.

We’re just over thinking because it doesn’t come naturally to us like it might to you. Some things come naturally to me that I am amazed other people don’t easily understand and music, especially the guitar, isn’t one of them. I’ve been playing my whole life and have always been super frustrated that I can’t understand all this stuff easily at all and am stuck playing the same old little scale boxes that I played when I was 15, 23 years ago. But these videos help a lot. I’ve spent thousands on in person lessons only to get more confused and these videos are better for me because I can watch the challenging parts over and over. So thanks for doing this and sharing freely! I also have a Truefire membership so I hope to see more of your courses on there… I can only afford one or two memberships so I hope you don’t start your own membership like many other musicians do. Truefire is awesome for people like me.

Yea, buddy!!! Great job on the hairdo. Rule #1 Everything else is a modification of the Major scale/ Ionian mode. You COULD sit there and map out all the minor 3rds and triad shapes separately from the major triads and make a caged shape system, or you could just move the 3rd in the major triad shapes you know 1/2 step down. This same concept works for scales: if you know the major (Ionian) scale you know all the scales...... the G Mixolydian (minor 7th scale), is just the C major scale starting on G...... the 5th note of the key of C. When you start to see everything as one rather than a bunch of different things, this is a big reason why.
