I have been using one of these when camping for a couple years now. Love it. It’s rugged and tough. Not too expensive that I would worry it would get dinged. So I am free to beat on it and fully enjoy battoning. I use it with gloves and it fits my hands comfortable. It’s easy enough to sharpen too

Thanks for sharing! I think the edge retention is not great but yes, it is easy to sharpen!

Hey UKG ! Fellow creator here. My take is the terrasaur is a budget equivalent of the garberg, which is a premium functional knife. The grinding, gluing and lanyard hole rae better quality on the mora. That said it can be easily circumvented with a bit of work and you get 100% of what a knife can offer for the best price out there.

Love the Terrasaur. Imho, it is very much better than spending $100 for a Mora. To be honest, I’ve had a number of Moras, and the only one I like is the Eldris. The Brakimo is my edc knife. Your mention of this knife would have gotten me to subscribe if I wasn’t already subscribed. 😉 👍🏼👍🏼

I've had mine for four years now and never had any issue with it. It lives hanging from the compression strap of my 5.11 Rush 24 pack. Getting it out of the sheath isn't easy, but that's okay given how I carry it. It's never come out of the sheath by accident. At half the price of the Garberg it's very worthy. Mostly I use mine as a general utility blade, but I've made some feathersticks and shavings with it for my Firebox stove a few times, and made a one-stick fire with it once. The handle is a bit too small for carving a long time with, but it'll get a fire going without much effort. Best for use with sticks about wrist thick or smaller if you want to baton with it. I've found the 1095 to be typical of Condor and softer than it should be, but it sharpens easily. I'm almost certain it's actually the same 1075 they use on everything else, since it behaves the same way as my other Condors. Given the choice, I'd go with the Condor Bushlore for a bushcraft knife. The handle is far more suitable for long term carving and the nice leather sheath is easier to work with. But for a light backup knife to keep on the pack, the Terrasaur will do the job just fine.

Thanks for your detailed comment and insights. Nice comparison points and highlighting more things to consider. In my limited experience with the knives, I did find the 1095 edge retention better than on the 1075 bushlore. But it was by no means a scientific or balanced test.

You're right about getting the knife out of the sheath, mostly because it is a pretty deep fit. I added a short 2.5 inch lanyard done in cobra braid (a.k.a. Solomon Bar) to give my last two fingers something to grab.

The fit and finish is better on the Garberg, but that doesn't really affect performance. The handle is a little smaller around on the Terrasaur, so it runs a little small for me. I wear size L gloves. It would probably be a perfect fit for size M people. It will probably fit just right for me with leather gloves on, but I haven't done any cold weather camping lately. The blade profile is similar to the Mora Companion or especially the Mora Companion Heavy Duty, which is a good thing for notching and other tip work. The Garberg's sharper turn near the tip is arguably worse for bushcrafting even if it does look nice.

1095 is my favorite steel. When heat treated properly is better than most "super steels" on a blade in my opinion.

The blank seems to protrude through the finger guard, or is that light? Lanyard hole looks like it was made with a hot spoon? Morakniv quality is far and away, a different level, tho, as most would expect.

There is a ricasso but it doesn't protrude through the finger guard. Fit and finish cannot compare to a Morakniv but it is solid and serviceable IMO.

If people are just looking for a workhorse knife you rough it up with, then look no further than the mora heavy duty companion -- even cheaper than the Terrasaur and just as good.
