@@brooklynnn777 not true 1 Corinthians 14 speaks of the unknown tongue the language that was spoken on the day of Pentecost was a spiritual language that the Holy Spirit gave them all utterance which by the same Holy Spirit was also understanding given...they were accused because of this phenomenon of being drunken because they spoke in an unknown language yet all of them understood one another...even they which spoke and understood where amazed and in doubt asking of one another what does this mean? A good balanced explanation and observations from the Bible and the Quran. Two Catholic people I know here in London have this special gift of tongues and I have personally heard them and amazed. They both happened during prayer meetings. Examples can be also found on youtube clips. I couldn't help noticing Saffiyyah listening so attentively to something which is completely new to her. In the military, soldiers have coded signals that they use to communicate with each other. In Christianity, tongues do almost the same thing. For Christians, Speaking in tongues has many uses but the primary use is as a secret/coded language between the person and God, mostly through prayer. All non-tongued prayers are understood by evil spirits, which can be used against them by devils (since they know what you're praying about) and eavesdroppers, there's no prayer privacy. When you talk to God in tongues, nobody can infiltrate, not even evil spirits or other Christians, unless they have the gift of interpretation.

My mum does it, and she never talks about it. I didn't even know (and im 42) other than some vague memory from my childhood of her praying with passion and emotion. My sister reminded me recently so i asked my mum if she still does it. She said she does it everyday. I asked if she could show me and it came out as soon as i asked. She said she didn't even mean for it to come out. It was inecredible, particularly as I'm so close to my mum but we've never spoken about this. It was a language she couldn't make up due the linguistic characteristics. We then prayed together, my mum speaking in tongues. It made a big impact on me and my scepticism. I see a lot of debate on doctrine and detail : which is right, which is wrong... but seeing something trangeble in someone i know so well who is kind, selfless, humble and devoted to her faith spoke to me a lot nore than being told what doctrine and detail is right or wrong.

I could be wrong, but I was always under the impression that there were two forms of speaking in tongues in Christianity. The kind where you speak normally but people can understand in their own language and the sort that comes out in babbles and moans that even the one uttering the sounds doesn't understand the meaning since its the Holy Spirit speaking.

Very humble here. We all serve the same Father. We are not able to do this with our own understandings or our wisdom. On both the bible and Quran the Lord says to give up OUR OWN knowledge, OUR OWN understandings and seek HIS wisdom, HIS knowledge and HIS understandings. God will put that upon us and he does even one better. He gives us love, joy, and happiness. The biggest one yet, he gives the gift of HIS holy spirit upon us. God(Allah) loves everyone of us. Do not be afraid to submit yourselves to him. We may not serve two masters. When God's light shine through us, we as earthly creation panic. Since SATIN already knows the declaration of the truth he will be the lion ready to devour us and put thoughts of justification into our heads without our awareness. Good question...sometimes you have to listen to what your heart says...the issue are the Instruments, and although the text is islamic but the Instruments etc are Tools of the shaytan to distract the people from Allah and his teachings. I really struggled with this a long time. And I must say that I think it is better without listening to any instrument , it doesn't care which text, rather you can listen to Qur'an or Nasheeds , and pls don't understand me wrong, I don't say that Maher zain etc are bad, no not at all, and they are not the problem, at the end of the day instruments and great music symphonies and what not, are still mechanism of Satan, and I don't want to take Satans falg,

Most of what he mentions is accurate to the best of his knowledge. But it would be like me explaining the quaran .....for those who have had the experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues/languages in that moment, and also seen with my own eyes what Paul is writing about in the Books/letters to Believers in Corinth....these two events are very different. When you receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit, the major identifier of this gift is the supernatural sign of speaking in other languages/tongues that is not your original language. But with the Holy Spirit there are gifts within the gift that is a help to the christian believers. Some of those gifts within that gift are as follows: 1. Prophecy - utterances from God for events that will happen now or later 2. Healings - set free from sicknesses 3. A Word of knowledge - information that God gives someone regarding another to help them 4. Discerning of spirits - the ability from God to know the spirit behind a matter whether from God or another spirit Example: Jesus identified the spirit behind Peter's outburst and address the spirit "get thee behind me Satan". 5. Gift of tongues - outburst in another language that follows an unusual moment of silence and often us followed by the other gift of interpretation. (This loud outburst tongue is different than the many times a new believer spoke in tongues after they received the gospel and obeyed the disciples instructions of wated baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus). 6. Interpretation of tongues - often follows this loud outburst tongue to explain what was said (these are signs) It is the same Spirit of God at work in different ways to help the believers or confirm his message.

He is talking about prophesying which Paul says you should do rather than speaking in tongues which is why he wrote Corinthians for there to be order in that church. Tongues is for edifying yourself between you and God prophesying is for edifying the church so you should build up the church.

Correction Mr. Shabir. The bible doesn't say they will speak in a different language. The bible says they all heard them speak in their own language. I'm a Christian and I also speak in tongues. Only the Holy Spirit can speak this unique language, and only the Holy Spirit can translate it. Some have tongues of fire, and some have the gift to translate it. The bible says tongues edify us. And the bible does not say that it is not for today. 90% of christian I know speak in tongues and their own language as the Holy Spirit gives them.

Good job Mark. Many times in Jerusalem, some Koreans and Indonisians had come to me saying, their prayer language is in Chinese or Hebrew. Well after asking them to speak in thier unknown prayer language as the Bible says, I tell them.. it is not Chinese, or Hebrew ( I Know both languages). Some of them say, "Well my friends told me it was (Who were Korean or Indonesian). Allah sent His spirit to Mary. Spirit of God in Quran is not different than the she-camel of God, or the house of God in Quran. It is just how Allah call His creation. But saying that Allah is a spirit like His creation is not acceptable in Islam.

@@potdevinp Jesus definitely has a spirit because he is a human (I use is because I am a mainstream muslim who believes that he is still alive) the same way we do too. Every living (animate) thing (God is excluded) must have spirit to live. So definitely Allah sent His spirit to Jesus for his life just like what He did to Adam. But there is also a term "holy spirit" in Quran which refers to angel Gabriel. Obviously angels have spirit too and their unseen nature makes them described as "spirits". Allah sent His angel to inform Mary about the miracle. And Allah sent His spirit to Mary's womb to create Jesus. So, yes. Both of them are told in the Quran. Footnote: to say Allah is a living spirit like us is unacceptable in Islam because it will contradict His nature (there is nothing like Him (Quran 112:2, Quran 22:11)). "His spirit" cannot be interpreted any other way than what I mentioned because a contradictive interpretation is impossible to be accepted while we have the non-contradictive one. And Allah knows best

@@salispadli thanks for your réponse. Dr Ally is speaking about the "Spirit of God being with the believers". Is it the Angel Gabriel in that case? I'm not sure if you are implying that when a living creature receives a spirit this is the same as the Spirit of God. Dr Ally seems to be saying that this is something different, the believers are already living creatures so they already have a spirit, but then the Spirit of God comes to be with them. What comes to be with them, the Angel Gabriel ? Maybe i'm splitting hairs and sorry if am but i though that was important
