If you think that HOVERAir X1 ProMax fits right in your pocket, you can grab it here: tinyurl.com/Doatrip-drone I would be curious of your experience that you made with this little device.

@ 36:15 I understand drone rotation (in place), Vertical (up/down), but what is the difference between Horizonal and Pitch? Which is side-to-side and which is forward/backward?
@doatripАй бұрын
pitch is the speed of the camera moving up and down
@GenuineArticle71Ай бұрын
Nice, i Got it now. I didn't realize pitch only refers to the gimbal. In summary: Horizontal = drone forward or backward. Vertical = drone up and down. Rotation = drone spin in place left or right. Pitch = camera up & down.

6:10 indeed, agree the battery should feel tighter, and I also suggested that to them. On the original X1 it was way too strong, and on these ones way to loose. Somewhere in between would be great. Great comprehensive review!

@gregb1599Ай бұрын
@kpeterrafael Its funny someone crazy flew a Neo into solid objects at like 30kph multiple times and while the drone eventually got damaged the battery never came off. Another test I saw they had both the x1 pro and Neo together and eventually they collided it was only about 2 metres in height but again the X1 pro battery detached. That is not good if you lose the drone in a forest and with no power no "find my drone" or flashing and beeping will not work.
@doatripАй бұрын
@@gregb1599 thats exactly my experience. Far to loose!

On follow mode, how does the drone come back to you? Used hand gestures and nothing happens. I come close to it and hand at the bottom and it just tried to get away from me. Had to wait until the battery drained.
@doatrip2 ай бұрын
Yeah that is always a bit tricky. For me the following works mostly: Turn towards the drone and raise your hands in the direction of the drone. The more you block of the visual line the drone needs to identify you as the focus subject the better. It then stops recording and the LED turns from red to green.
@BackwardTravistyАй бұрын
In the follow/dolly/side track modes, simply stop and remain motionless for 3 seconds. The drone will go into (green light) standby mode and wait for you to place your hand under it. This doesn't work in hover mode. The drone also has an emergency shot off mode by simply flipping the drone on its back. This will immediately stop the props and recording.

Nice review thank you! I noticed a lot of scratches on the X1 body. Is it easily damageable or did you push it on its limits?
@doatrip2 ай бұрын
Glad I could help a bit with this video! Yeah, I've got tons of scratches on mine-I pushed it to its limits and had a bunch of crashes. The hardest one happened while I was riding my e-bike. I had it on Dolly Track mode, going around 35 to 40 km/h, and it smashed into the ground after hitting a branch. I thought I’d totally destroyed it, but luckily, it’s pretty sturdy as long as you don’t hit the camera. Honestly, there’s no need to worry-the 'normal' crashes won’t ever harm your HoverAir X1 Pro. ;)

Its a cool idea that seems to be implemented well. IF they ever offer a full rate/speed manual mode to their offering, instead of nerfing that part to be slower than the performance available in auto modes, they will expand their market base significantly. good performance in manual mode with a real controller the only part thats missing on this drone. Do that and DJI will get hurt. Badly.
@doatripАй бұрын
yeah I agree. It's weird that manual mode flights are that slow.

Are you talking about mine? That’s because I’ve really pushed it to the limits with some pretty hard crashes. The worst was when it hit a branch in Dolly Track mode and smashed into the ground at around 35 km/h. So, you shouldn’t worry too much-normal crashes aren’t a big deal for this device.

I really wanted to like this drone and, at the start, thought it was going to have obstacle avoidance sensors as good or better than other drones like the Skydio 2 and most DJI drones, the high asking price would have been well worth it, but to have, after all the hype, just a basic rear avoidance system that apparently only works up to 1m/s or just 3.6 kph, makes this drone just too expensive!
@doatripАй бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Where is that info coming from that obstacle avoidance only works on rear side and only with 3kph? That's basically wrong. It works with much higher speeds and also on the front. However that drone is not made for obstacle avoidance flights like regular DJI drones are. So it is a good gimmick to ensure less crashes during autonomous flying
@gregb1599Ай бұрын
@doatrip It comes from Zero Zero Robotics themselves. It's well talked about on their Facebook group chat. That applies to the Max the promax maybe different as it uses an actual rear camera "designed" for obstacle avoidance. They clearly say no front or side obstacle avoidance in their marketing
@doatripАй бұрын
I cannot confirm that. I tested the ProMax over weeks biking, trekking, forest walks etc. Avoidance worked mostly but it's the same issue like nearly all drones have I know. Small branches will be overseen in any case. But it might be right with higher speeds. Need to do an test biking thru the forest. 😃

Sweetie & I thank you SOOOO much for this super thorough objective review. We have used and LOVED the X1 to create a drone opener four our past 100 🍺BeerVlogs 🍺. Our ProMax JUST SHIPPED moments ago. And your video re-affirms our purchase but ALSO the limitations. How is the obstacle avoidance with remote? Can you ask your zero zero contacts if they have plans to stop hitting HUMANS forward & backward in manual mode. Another video showed that problem. Also, as you know DJI, has a “bypass’ mode where it goes AROUND obstacles rather than just STOPPING. Can you ask them if they plan on firmware updating that? Of course, first they need to HOPEFULLY implement ANY obstacle avoidance in manual mode . Can you ask them these thins? Thanks again for GREAT video. - Eric ZORK Alan & Sweetie [ 🤣Professional🤣Poets & Bed 🛏 & Beer🍺 Vloggers ]
@doatrip2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the friendly comment! Basically, there’s no obstacle avoidance setting when you’re controlling it manually, either by phone or with the remote. It only has basic obstacle avoidance in autonomous modes. Honestly, I wouldn’t expect Zero Zero to add a full obstacle avoidance mode anytime soon. For one, it would only work on the ProMax since it’s the only one with rear cameras, and, to be fair, this device just isn’t designed for manual flying the way DJI devices are. If they did add something for the ProMax, it would probably be similar to the mode DJI uses on the Mini 3 Pro, since it doesn’t have side sensors. As for the 'hitting humans' issue, I think they’ll eventually update it-it’s really just a matter of the software recognizing human shapes or other living things. For now, though, you definitely have to be cautious when flying it close to others. And by the way, the DJI Neo doesn’t recognize people either, as you can see in one of my other videos.
@iamnotapoet2 ай бұрын
@@doatrip good thing about both jived air and neo is that both can’t even hurt a tiny toddler if it does collide, unlike a mini 4 that could fully blind someone. I was AFRAID to fly my three DJI drones for fear of human or property damage. The hover air basically will only hurt your credit card in a crash. But, yes, I would WISH zero zero added features that tooom advantage of ALL its sensors in the MAX and did not restrict flying features to only Pro model sensors. But, when I did buy this. I knew it was probably 1 to 2 generations away from really answering my wish list. So I’ll end up buying the x2 ProMaxUltraExtreme in 3 years and/or the Neo3. Thanks again for the videos and the feedback. Any which way I look at it the Hover became invaluable to every BeerVlog - Eric ZORK Alan & Sweetie [ 🤣Professional🤣Poets & Bed 🛏️ & Beer🍺 Vloggers ]
