Hi Cai, Great to see another video about x1 pro. I completely understand your POV as I feel the same with the confidence (also my first drone ever). When it works it is great piece of tech, when it doesn't work it's another story. Exoerience with support isn't good, it is slow. 10:09 This can be changed in the mode settings so it will record one video from both directions. 14:34 for the beacon-drone-mobile phone app, it is frustrating there is no option to switch between connecting to beacon or phone app. I have to turn it off and on again every time I need to switch connection. In the beginning I didn't have much issues until one day I tried to manually fly and lost connection to my drone and when returning back to starting point my drone crashed and broke prop and cracked camera glass. I am waiting for inspection and their verdict if it was user error or software/hardware error.

Hey man! Good to see you again, and another super insightful comment - right on. Re 10:09, yes someone else dropped this in the comments to this vid so that’s 100% my user error if so! For sure connection synergy between beacon + drone is super frustrating. It sounds like you’re in the same ballpark as me - frustrated, and a knock for the consumer confidence, but keeping faith that future firmware will see it all right. Sucks that you have to deal with a damaged drone though pal, sorry to hear that!

@cailife I had same question about segmented video footage but luckily I was able to find it (also launch group chat is also useful sometimes) and it has to be set for each mode (bird's eye and zoom out) separately. Damaged drone sucks, I do even have a video on how it happened. I still don't know if RTH or hover in place is better option in case of losing connection. The worst part is I am leaving on a vacation to Thailand this weekend and I was planning to take my Pro but now I can't. I really hope ZZR will fix majority of issues in upcoming firmware updates as frustration between users is spreading like a wild fire

Good honest video. Thanks. My X1 Pro Max didn't run as smoothly as the original after unboxing. Since a firmware update, I can't use the new machine anymore. After nearly a month of waiting for replies, the support on my case and seemingly many others at Indiegogo has broken down. This does not look good.

Thank you for your comment. It’s not an irreversible situation, for sure, and the technology is fantastic. But I feel like they need to get these firmware updates right quickly before confidence completely collapses amongst users.

Hi Cai, good to see an update from you. The beacon seems to have the most issues and needs a proper and well tested firmware update. I do experience glitches on the beacon screen and sometimes the circles you mentioned. For me personally connecting suddenly performs well in manual mode. Preview on my phone works well the last few days and not even had an update. Agree on the OmniTerrain, it's a hit and miss. Also have same experience with the birds eye footage. About propellers breaking just by them self is for me hard to believe but who am I to judge. As I enjoy flying manual with the joysticks I wish I could change settings on my phone. I'm satisfied with the quality of the footage and for the most part enjoy the Pro. Subscribed now on the condition you publish more footage from the Pro 😁

Every thing you said is spot on with my experience with the pro max. Not even close to ready for full public use. A few issues I have are -artifacts in the video -missing sections in the video -no video recorded -orbit not orbiting around me correctly -beacon connection -no additional beacon signal helping with connection -a small crash cracked the middle bottom sensor. -extremely slow support When it works it is great when it doesn’t it is very bad. We are very close but still many months away.

Sorry to hear you’re been having SO many issues, man! That is an incredibly frustrating list of problems and as I say, just gives poor confidence in both using and *wanting* to use the drone. Fingers crossed ZZR are working hard to repay the faith shown by owners - the firmware updates are rolling out fairly regularly, at least.

I've had no issues with software at all, just the power case that does not turn the drone to sleep mode. But support has been very responsive and helpful, and that is alos worth a lot.

I’m glad to hear! As I mentioned, I’m sure there’ll be people who’ve been having few or no problems, but there does seem to be an alarming out of people having significant issues (which I’ve experienced a few of, for sure). Let’s hope people have them being fixed, soon!

The support is more than bad, if a defect occurs you are just out of luck, 2 support tickets and 10 days without a response.Even though the quality of the DJI Neo is worse, considering the price and the service, which you can also get by phone, it is a much better option. My drone flew straight into my face while I was on my bike in dolly mode, the battery ran out and the drone simply stopped at 30 kmh.Very high security risk and no reaction

Thank you for the important video. I agree that the software is not mature yet, and there are issues, especially with WiFi connectivity with both the app and the beacon (and Joystick/controller). However… as an early adapter and a gadgeteer, with a lot of experience with drones (including the original x1 and the DJI Neo), this drone is AMAZING. ZZR were very responsive to me and I have confidence that they will fix all the issues. You talked towards the end about performance in the dark , and obviously you did not try it out. It performs great, unlike the original x1 or the DJI Neo. One more thing I would like to add - the Beacon alone is not really useful at this stage besides for preview and record/picture control, but when you add the joystick parts it’s an amazing controller, and though not flawless, it does have a more robust communication.

Just took out my hover air Pro Max for a maiden voyage on a morning run. When attempting to use the drone with the beacon which was fully connected, the drone would not follow me at all. This was quite a surprise, considering the beacon is supposed to improve follow ability. When not using the beacon, the drone would successfully follow me, but the one time I put it in Dolly track mode. It didn’t record. 😅. The drone also was stopped by obvious obstacles that it should have simply gone around. It also crashed in bushes that it should’ve gone around as well. I must say I am disappointed because if it can’t even follow me jogging, how will it do it on a one wheel or mountain biking or snowboarding? 🏂 Hoping a firmware update fixes these issues. If anyone has insights as to how to get the drone to follow you when you have a fully successfully connected beacon, please let me know. ❤

I’ve been having issues with my HoverAir Pro. In Follow Me mode on high attitude, it won’t land even when I stand still for awhile. In Birds Eye mode, it got stuck mid-air and I had to use the beacon to bring it down. Regarding your comment about Birdseye shots being recorded into segments, there is a setting on the app called video segments. If this is turned on, the drone splits your recording into two videos: one capturing the flight away from you until it reaches the farthest point and another starting as it flies back towards you. You have to turn this setting off if you just want one continuous video that includes both the outbound and return flights

I'm interested in this drone for bird eye view picture to use the picture to generate landscape drawings after. Are you saying that without the beacon, there would be no way to bring it down when the bug happens? I'm not talking about follow me mode.

Thanks for the comment, brother - much appreciated! I do absolutely love this thing. I think it’s a fantastic, advanced piece of tech and I do have faith that ZZR will create a stable software for it to operate in all modes and conditions, but we’re just not there *yet*. I’m happy to keep the faith that a stable, strong firmware is on the way but for sure I’d be concerned if I didn’t own one yet and was considering a purchase.

The X1 range still has the USP of its form factor / folding, as well as the superior image quality - but you can’t fault DJI’s aftercare and the Neo is still a very capable (and more reliable) device.

I am experiencing the firmware update bug in the latest update. It was frozen and no update was done. Hope they will look into that seriously and get the problem fixed soonest. I own the Hoverair X1 Pro. Great piece of hardware but very weak software! 😂

Yup this is what I experienced…ultimately I just had to wait and have faith it was installing and uploading despite giving me no feedback, and then with no obvious reason why it finally started working after a while!

I have the full X1 pro max ski combo biggest package you can get. I’ve had nothing but problems with it as well. It is definitely not ready for the public. Connecting issues. Also, I don’t feel like the beacon truly works and makes the drone fly where the beacon is going. I think this has been some clever marketing. I’ve been flying drones for easily 12 years with my Drone company I know the stuff pretty inside and out this drone is definitely not ready for a public use yet,

Thanks for dropping in, pal. Sorry to hear you’re also having issues - it seems like a pretty large percentage of P and PM owners are experiencing bugs of. It’s hard to disagree with the idea of suspiciously looking at the Beacon - I really can’t work out where we sit between ‘untapped potential’ and ‘tiny screen / controller but no actual tracking lol get rekt’. I definitely appreciate the feedback from someone who’s so experienced with various drones and the tech in general, so thank you!

All good points and I think you're rather "kind" in your assessment when HoverAir are clearly taking their trusting customers for a "ride", probably out of "incompetence" and being generally understaffed. Another reason NOT to buy for now is the fact that they're not shipping EU Store from Europe but from China with fraudulent invoices (they show a value of $100 for the Drone) which is causing all kinds of issues and delays.

This is all super interesting - intel I wasn’t aware of at all! I’m happy to give ZZR the benefit of the doubt and give them a chance to right these early wrongs - especially where damage and a HoverCare option is concerned. The most important part for them will be to show humility and to be proactive. It’s great to see how successful the IGG funding was for them but affected users need to see that success and money converted into humble after care.
