on the surface, i agree but i think there is a reason they very intentionally didn’t do this… the vast majority of dji fpv buyers (and likely avata) were 100% new to FPV drones. most were unwilling and impatient to get get results somewhat similar to what they saw on all the cool FPV drone videos on youtube and ultimately a lot were unhappy with their new drone, crashing etc. to solve this dji is forcing the hand of buyers and giving them the motion controller which gets you a lot closer to dynamic views associated with fpv drones but in a safer, nearly instant to learn way that will make people happy with their new drones and then they can “upgrade” to the full experience with the purchase of a “low cost” (hahaha) $199 fpv controller.
@supreme122 жыл бұрын
The motion controllers weren't selling. Dji had a warehouse full of them. So they made this the only bundle available to get rid of that surplus supply. Diffently a business decision.

That 200m range in the woods is a dealbreaker 4 me. I usually fly my drone in wooded areas and narrow valleys... I would love buying this, but the fact that they don.t give the RC at 1400$ it.s again, a bad thing. I thought that the RC would be the main controller, and the joystock - a gimmik. So, 1400$ for the combo+200$ for the RC and another 300$ for the batteries makes the full price kinda steep. A combo worth 1500$ including the drone, the glasses, the RC and a spare battery would have been a hit imho

It's interesting to hear about the software limitation cap of the goggles between the EU and USA. Here in the US every review I'm watching has the drone go quite a ways behind buildings and through thick forests before you start to see any minimal quality drop. But for you in the EU I think you said you went about 300m behind some trees and it basically completely cut out. I feel like people would watch your review and think "man, the goggles 2 are MUCH worse than the v2's" but in reality they're actually A LOT better, it's just the software cap DJI put on them for EU countries.
@Dcrainmaker2 жыл бұрын

I already have 3 FPV rigs already. There is only one I would get this. 1) it would be a good travel fpv drone that would lessen the amount of equipment I need to bring on travel. 9 minutes of flight on each battery that I can charge via USB. No more chargers to charge my lipo batteries. I love your videos. Keep them coming. You may also want to talk about the noise in another video. Little drones like this make enough noise to bother a lot of people.
@Dcrainmaker2 жыл бұрын
Fwiw, no USB-C charging directly on the drone. But, I'll give them credit that the tiny adapter plate charges via USB-C (the single adapter plate is slightly smaller than a deck of cards, but super lightweight, the longer multi-one is like a ruller). Noise is definitely higher on these, especially if you mount a GoPro atop it...

I agree. Like I said on the other aspects, there’s no reason it can’t aside from software. And there’s also no reason you should ‘have’ to fly with goggles either, plenty of FPV flyers use large secondary screens instead - especially if trying to stay within regulations.

Great review. Question about range. The 2 advertised range is 10km but you were only able to get 1km, while outdoors over open water? Also, DJI states that V2 only has 6km range, while 2 has 10km range, but you actually find that V2 has much longer range? Thanks
@Dcrainmaker2 жыл бұрын
Correct, the 'Goggles V2' goggles have more range than the 'Goggles 2'. Keep in mind though, the 10KM range is only for FCC/US mode, not CE/EU mode (which is spec'd at 2KM).

Europe has a much more tightly regulated airspace and broadcast spectrum. This is mainly due to the negotiations needed between different systems as it's made up of different countries packed together each with slightly different regulations for aircraft slot booking and airspace flow management. The US has a heavier reliance on air travel, where planes are almost as frequent as buses! Europe has more trains and a different road system also which adds to travel possibilities and so complicates things.
