on the surface, i agree but i think there is a reason they very intentionally didn’t do this… the vast majority of dji fpv buyers (and likely avata) were 100% new to FPV drones. most were unwilling and impatient to get get results somewhat similar to what they saw on all the cool FPV drone videos on youtube and ultimately a lot were unhappy with their new drone, crashing etc. to solve this dji is forcing the hand of buyers and giving them the motion controller which gets you a lot closer to dynamic views associated with fpv drones but in a safer, nearly instant to learn way that will make people happy with their new drones and then they can “upgrade” to the full experience with the purchase of a “low cost” (hahaha) $199 fpv controller.
@supreme12
@supreme12 2 жыл бұрын
The motion controllers weren't selling. Dji had a warehouse full of them. So they made this the only bundle available to get rid of that surplus supply. Diffently a business decision.

I already have 3 FPV rigs already. There is only one I would get this. 1) it would be a good travel fpv drone that would lessen the amount of equipment I need to bring on travel. 9 minutes of flight on each battery that I can charge via USB. No more chargers to charge my lipo batteries. I love your videos. Keep them coming. You may also want to talk about the noise in another video. Little drones like this make enough noise to bother a lot of people.
@Dcrainmaker
@Dcrainmaker 2 жыл бұрын
Fwiw, no USB-C charging directly on the drone. But, I'll give them credit that the tiny adapter plate charges via USB-C (the single adapter plate is slightly smaller than a deck of cards, but super lightweight, the longer multi-one is like a ruller). Noise is definitely higher on these, especially if you mount a GoPro atop it...

It's interesting to hear about the software limitation cap of the goggles between the EU and USA. Here in the US every review I'm watching has the drone go quite a ways behind buildings and through thick forests before you start to see any minimal quality drop. But for you in the EU I think you said you went about 300m behind some trees and it basically completely cut out. I feel like people would watch your review and think "man, the goggles 2 are MUCH worse than the v2's" but in reality they're actually A LOT better, it's just the software cap DJI put on them for EU countries.

Great review. Question about range. The 2 advertised range is 10km but you were only able to get 1km, while outdoors over open water? Also, DJI states that V2 only has 6km range, while 2 has 10km range, but you actually find that V2 has much longer range? Thanks
@Dcrainmaker
@Dcrainmaker 2 жыл бұрын
Correct, the 'Goggles V2' goggles have more range than the 'Goggles 2'. Keep in mind though, the 10KM range is only for FCC/US mode, not CE/EU mode (which is spec'd at 2KM).

You’re so good at these reviews 😂. First off they should have had a cine mode on this drone for sure and focused on flying this slower too almost like an interior mode or something unique. That 200m range in the woods is a dealbreaker 4 me. I usually fly my drone in wooded areas and narrow valleys... I would love buying this, but the fact that they don.t give the RC at 1400$ it.s again, a bad thing. I thought that the RC would be the main controller, and the joystock - a gimmik. So, 1400$ for the combo+200$ for the RC and another 300$ for the batteries makes the full price kinda steep. A combo worth 1500$ including the drone, the glasses, the RC and a spare battery would have been a hit imho

@tomspoors768

Europe has a much more tightly regulated airspace and broadcast spectrum. This is mainly due to the negotiations needed between different systems as it's made up of different countries packed together each with slightly different regulations for aircraft slot booking and airspace flow management. The US has a heavier reliance on air travel, where planes are almost as frequent as buses! Europe has more trains and a different road system also which adds to travel possibilities and so complicates things.

Honestly, it really depends on whether there's any winds (which increase the engine power). But assuming no winds, I'd say about 75m away it becomes relatively quiet. It's moderately miserable for most people (much higher pitch than other drones) at 0-30/40 meters.

Great review! Concerning the googles, would you recommend the older (V2) or the new (2...who came up with that terminology?) ones, apart from the obvious price difference? I'd say it'd mostly depend on range you wanted (and where you lived - EU or US/North America). If you don't need really long range, or if you live in the US/Canada, I'd go new goggles. Else, if you really need the range, I'd go old goggles. There's some slight differences in FPS at the top-end, but not enough to shift my thinking (120 vs 100FPS).

Wil the goggles v2 (that have been modified to 1200mw) work with avata. Or will it be reset tot ce mode so that I lose my range on my vista drones?

I have the FPV Drone. I was wanting a smaller drone that would work with my V2 Goggles. Can you tell me if the battery connectors are the same on the FPV Battery compared to the Avata battery? Or am I going to need to buy an Avata battery charger separately to charge the Avata batteries?

Hi there , to anyone who own Avata , I would like to ask does it come with “FOLLOW ME” mode ? I currently have mini 2 and I can have my drone to follow me when I’m running . Since Avata is FPV require goggle to control Everytime. Are there any way to turn on Follow Me mode ? Thx for all helping ❤❤❤❤❤

Hello. No, unfortunately there's no Follow Me mode in any of DJI's FPV products (Avata, FPV, etc...). :(

@@Dcrainmaker Hi thank you so much for your time to reply. So if I want to shoot a video of myself hiking (of course can clearly see my face without goggle) do you know how can we? Thanks so much for help

Is this a good drone to follow you like during mountain biking? So If Im riding the drone will automatically follow me? If not any suggestions?
@Dcrainmaker
@Dcrainmaker 2 жыл бұрын
No, unfortunately not. It doesn't do any autonomous following/flying, it's all manual. The best MTB-focused drone is the Skydio 2, though, image quality generally isn't as good as the Mini 3 Pro (which can also follow) - or the Mavic 3, which has even better obstacle avoidance than the Mini 3 (but not as good as the Skydio 2). Also, it depends on where your MTB'ing. If you're talking desert, then honestly, the DJI products are just as good in those areas as Skydio. But if you're talking forests, then Skydio is the only option - but even that can get iffy depending on how tight the trees are. Check out some of my 'ActiveTrack' videos for comparisons.

Do the batteries from the v2 goggles work with the New 2 goggles ?
@Dcrainmaker
@Dcrainmaker 2 жыл бұрын
Yup! I just did it a few mins ago, no problems swapping. Note though (like, super important note) that the cable between them is different. Specifically, the plug portion that goes into the goggles is smaller on Goggles 2. Meaning, label them clearly so you don't grab the wrong one and realize it an hour away from home...

It’s so confusing because I’ve seen multiple KZbin videos straight up showing the goggles 2 have BETTER range than the V2, yet there are also multiple videos saying the opposite.

Great review (and your Garmin EPIX review helped me as well, thanks!) 👍One question about the CE Range of 6km with the old ("V2) goggles: did you do a "real world" test and can confirm that the range is much better in CE than the new goggles? I checked DJI's website, and they only state the range for the avata, not for the different goggles..
@Dcrainmaker
@Dcrainmaker 2 жыл бұрын
I tried it today, and it did indeed go further, albeit, not a ton further (roughly 1,200ish meters versus the same spot/flight with Goggles 2 was about 950m). Not a super scientific study, but something.
@stefanwoermcke6828
@stefanwoermcke6828 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dcrainmaker Thanks for testing. So I guess then the old goggles won't get 6km in perfect condition? Maybe due the fact that the Avata supports only 5.8 GHZ (what I read so far), while the " DJI FPV" Drone supports dual band, which would explain the 6km CE Range..
