Thanks again! It's always pleasurable seeing these things. Just waiting for everything to be on CD, as well as written drawn modules, maybe with each technique, that builds into an encyclopedia,😃.. Or regular book, but hardback, about 800 pages. I mean Japan has there's, but I can not read their writing. Then Rickson teaches Japanese their own style, that's pretty sharp!

@@Malouco Well, Rickson when younger adapted to life, but coming to the U.S., I suspect maybe it's made him even better, maybe more patient. But at the same time, outside Brazil, he's got more status and qualifications than Jigoro Kano. Where personally, I would have loved to trained with him or Rorion. Relson too. We're going through an era that'll subside. Which as Judo, it'll be partially taught, watered down with time as we've seen other things. Which if Rickson leaves a book and well detailed as well as videos, it'd help hold jiu jitsu together. The actual techniques, nuances, intricacies that make it work. It will become more sport eventually. But having a book, videos, it would preserve so much. 😂, I made provisions to relocate years ago, where I would have been with Rickson had things gone my way. As well as other things. But.... Think about this. I never heard of Jigoro Kano, Gichin Funakoshi ever having such actual experience in actual fights. Their , Gracie's have it. I do not approve of violence, understand I do have faith in God. But there are others who do believe in violence, where it's good for good people to know how to deal with such! Psalm 144:1, or maybe verse 2. Again, Rickson is selling something that should be retained by better people, is he or is he not? Then a few decades from now, others will talk about the Gracie's and if like karate and such, others will say no way, that can't be done, etc. Someone will try to use it and not knowing the details will look stupid. Again, Rickson, Rorion, etc., will be gone, the only way to preserve what they're teaching is to have it recorded and documented. Look at Karate, Gichin Funakoshi as I understand it, was equivalent and just as competent as Jigoro Kano, but with a different methodology. Few retain that ability, then the masses that know nothing. Then like at Judo, years of training and many are still ineffective going against those who are naturally more aggressive, experienced and capable. Or look at Aikido, you do not see any Aikido in MMA. I rest my case.

That would be a dream come true! Sadly I feel Rickson is a bit more old school with his teaching methods; not too systematic in his approach. You should check out Rener and Ridon. By far they are the best instructors in the Gracie family I have seen. Check out their Gracie Combatives DVD’s some parts are here on KZbin for free

And don’t get me wrong, to me Rickson is the best in the family, just these two Gracie brothers I mentioned in my previous comment have a better more systematic and comprehensive teaching style.

I would love to take a private from GM Rickson, but I.also need to point out that one flaw in this demo is that (and this is no disrespect to GM Rickson), that other guy was actually not in position to properly through a punch or kick.

The old style of BJJ still works fine except when you’re in competition with professional fighters who cross-train. Old school BJJ will still beat the shit out of 99% of people.
