Lazy eye is loosely used to describe TWO things for the lay person:
1) Eye turn (Strabismus) and/or
2) Weak-seeing eye (Amblyopia)
In this video, we will discuss what STRABISMUS and AMBLYOPIA are, what causes them, and what effects they can bring if left undetected and untreated. We will also discuss what the recommended eye exam schedule for children is.

I might have strabismus. Sometimes my eyes will be misaligned or when I do things like wipe over my eye or I wink or even blink one at a time with either eye, my eye goes to the corner. I thought it was just sum quirky thing I had. I'm 16 now and it's getting worse lol

I got my first glasses at 13. I have strabismus and I know I had it since I was a child. I started squinting when I was young and went to the eye doctor but they said nothing was wrong so I thought norhing is wrong. But as I got older, I started noticing my eye being different to each other especially when my left eye move to the side. The right eye would be in the middle while my left would be in the corner. I watch videos before ai tell my mom. Hope we can get this checked soon before it gets worse.

I asked my optometrist for helped but he seemed clueless. My dom is almost 15 and in the last couple of years we found out his eye centering us off. We are playing catch and I tell him to line up in front of me so he moves about 3 feet to my left. I quizzed him over it and had others tell him as well. He just can’t line up in front of me. Any ideas? His eyes don’t looked crossed.

If there is an increase in the frequency of your son's eye turn, it may be worthwhile to report to the optometrist for a second checkup. Earlier diagnosis of a problem is always beneficial!

Hi Charlotte, maybe you could get a second opinion from another doctor or another hospital. My 18 month old was diagnosed at the first appointment in like three minutes (she has her glasses now) and I am waiting for an appointment for second opinion, because I trust a diagnosis that has been concluded in a few minutes without an anamnesis and differental diagnosis.

Hi Mommy dear, how come a toddler (18 months) could start to squint with a +9 eyeproblem (after a week of teething, nausea, diarrhea and vomitting)? And is that something you often see in your practice? Is there anything you could do like excercises to improve your child's sight..?
