Knee or hip pain? Pay attention to how your knee is tracking over your foot! Tag someone who’s knee collapses in their movements. After watching this video, I am sure someone will comment, “What exercise should I do to make sure my knee is tracking over my foot???” The answer is that you have to pay attention to it in everything you do! A majority of the principals that we teach are things that you must focus on throughout your day, not just in a “workout” setting. ⁣

Every time you are walking, going up stairs, running, or working out, take a look at how your knee is moving in relation to your foot. If you see your knee fall inward or push outward, wobble, or shift far over your toes, it’s time to make some conscious adjustments to your knee to make sure that your weight is in your heel and that your knee is in line with the direction of your foot. ⁣

Keep in mind that the human body is meant to move in millions of ways. There is technically no “right” or “wrong” way for your foot, knee, and hip to move in relation with one another. There are more efficient ways to move, but no “wrong” ways. If you are having PAIN though, it is because you lack awareness and control of your body. Keeping the hip, knee, and foot in alignment will ensure that weight is distributed equally across all of your tissues. It is totally fine for your knee to collapse inward and outward if you know WHY you are doing it. The problem is that many of you have no awareness that your knee is not aligned, which may ultimately contribute to your knee/hip pain. If you are consciously collapsing the knee inward or pushing it outward to strengthen the ligaments and tissues of the knee, then you are probably very aware of your shit already. This is likely not the case for a majority of you. Get to work and improve your awareness to improve your pain.⁣

Tracking is just watching it and fixing it yourself just put yourself in the habit of walking correctly and you will eventually subconsciously walk properly, if you want to strengthen anything in there litterly just go on runs and if you can't run go on walks until your able to

Try building muscle in your glutes, quads, and hamstrings. Did wonders for my knee and hip pain. Just go light to not aggravate the injury further

I THINK it´s better to wear barefoot shoes. I have a pair of Fivefingers that are amazing. When I use my USD 200 shoes bought in a specialist store I get more problems in knees and hips then when I use them Fivefingers. Then it feel like if the muscles of the foot work in a symphony with the knees and the hips. That is not the case with those excpensive ones. (Not that Fivefingers are cheap ...)

I used to have knee pain going up and down stairs. I saw a silly video that said a reason may be because I was not tracking my knee and foot straight. I started paying attention to track my knees and feet together and long and behold, all my pain went away😮

How do we fix it tho? If i rotate the foot to be straight, i feel it stretch my knee, and the foot gets tilted to the outside, making the foot not working properly when walking.

You have to consciously keep alignment. I noticed I was pointing outwards and so I started mindfully keeping my foot alignment while I climbed stairs. Stair climbing hits basically every muscle group in your lower body (as well as some core and back). Your muscles will be sore the next day, so you may have to take a day or two to rest, but then keep going. It’s beneficial to have some extra protein intake while you’re doing this. Lastly, do various leg stretches, you can find playlists from several physiotherapists on YT for said stretches. It won’t be fixed immediately, it’ll take quite some time, but if you stick with it the alignment will improve. It took me about three months of doing what I described consistently for my foot to align properly. The first month my calves and glutes were sore as f, but they were less sore each week after that. Oh, also make sure you are pushing through your heel when going up the stairs. On the plus side, my a$$, quads, and calves have never looked so good lol.

I live all the time! I gotta start doing this!!! I've lost it but skateboarding kept me tracked or my knees and ankles exploded. Once I got it I could run cross slimey river rocks and almost never fell when I slipped. Now my body just hurts and I've got to work tomorrow

Had a twisted knee injury many years ago and the knee had loud pop. My foot doesn’t seem to track normally after that. When I squat it feels like femur and tibia is twisting at opposite directions. what can I do to fix it because due to this twisting one side pulling strong in my hip than the other side.

Mobility exercises. Work the hip flexor, glute, and quads. Leg press, squats with a band, and leg extensions were best for me.

I can squat deep with feet outward and knee forward. Feels great. I cannot squat deep with my feet in line with my knee cause it cracks and feels bad. For me it is exactly the other way😅
