I don't know bout the rest of you, but baybeee when I found Yani on here... I literally went back to the first video and watched every 👏🏽 last 👏🏽 one 👏🏽. I took full serious notes as if in school and intend to leave these for my grand children and beyond. I had questions but just knew she already answered them in previous videos. I was right. She answered questions I didn't even know I had. We do this for our fav shows on Netflix and call is binge watching. I did it for my hair's health and wellness. I brought healthy snacks as i veiwed! 😂 it took a few nights but there were serious gems, the sound of sista joy and some jokes too in every last healing one. Give thanks. 💗💗💗

My late mom had Bob Marley type locs down past her butt and her hair grew away from her locs and my locs are the exact same way. When I do my hair I just gather the "fuzzies" and twist them back into the loc and keep it moving. I've learned from Yannie a long time ago that less is more and I follow that advice religiously 🥰

I’ve almost reached year 1 in my micro loc journey and my hair grows like this. I have already accepted that my hair acts differently to some of the micro loc videos I have seen. “Don’t over think it” is the best advice I have heard. I only discovered you a couple of months ago but have benefitted from your videos already. My regrowth is fully disrespecting me right now and it feels healthier for it xxx

THIS is what I needed to hear. I got so afraid when someone commented that my hair is breaking because it’s growing away from the locs. I’ve been locked going on three years and still trying to discern between myth and fact…so much misinformation.

I have a few like that too. And I KNOW not to dare go into one of the common-one-technique fits all lock-shops. My hair cannot be managed down to those perfectly parted sets when they are thin. I am slowly starting to braid in the new growth into the locks where I can. At least I can 'gauge' how much pressure to apply. This was a great video for Yannie to affirm that we are not crazy where we have hair like this.

this video make me feel so SEEN! when i had my first set of locs between ages 7 and 12, my mom was convinced that my head was getting bigger and my hairline was compensating for it 😭 10 years later on my 3rd (and final) set i still have this and people around me think i’m just unkempt or that my hair is “unruly.” theres beauty in the way our hair grows, thank you for being so knowledgable and sharing your knowledge with us!!

Thanks Yannie, my hair grows in that manner, I never thought it was breakage, my father has a receiving hair line that grows different, so it has been handed to his children. I am so glad finding you, I learn everytime you post, "less is more" rosewater and only oil to maintain. I am coming upon my one year journey and I love my locs. They seem funny looking to others, but to me they are simply gorgeous. I love the way they are growing and their shape, they are mine and I really appreciate you instilling that in me. You are a precious gem.

I really thought my locs were thinning or about to break off from the root! I do notice when I finally get a retwist, that it doesn't look that way afterward. Glad to know that this can happen due to new growth growing away from the locs. Thank you as always for educating us! Knowledge is Power!

I honestly thought it had to do with the texture of the hair, that determines if the hair grows in ou away from the loc. The kinky the hair is the hair will grow in the loc and the looser the hair is the hair grows away from the loc.

My hair never grows into the locks, I have learned to embrace it. I just love my frizz now. I have to interloc, palm rolling don't make my hair loc, it just comes out once I sweat 😓. Yannie izza educational boss. Give thanks Queen.

OMG what a Loc lifesaver. Ever since I started leaving more and more time between my retwists, I’ve been getting a mini Afro. I was starting to think I was getting breakage in the front also until realized …well my loc isn’t falling off or getting any thinner so it can’t be that. So I just started to gently push the loose strands through the new growth when retwisting. I’ll try leave my retwist even longer and try this method whenever Lonnie posts the technique. Thanks so much for this

I started out with traditional locs in 1999. Now I semi-freemorm. I wrap any lose hairs around the loc, and braid my new growth into some of the locs around my edges. This was informative for me. I thought I was the only one to do this. Let me check, and see if you have a video about braiding in the new growth.
@zoe04113 жыл бұрын
I really wanna stop retwisting my locs for about 6 months so they can breathe and grow freely but I kept thinking it was breakage. With your explanation I understand now that it is new growth. Makes sense because hair is shedding everyday and new hairs are appearing everyday;; some just don't grow 'within the loc'. Thanks for giving me hope.
@deziarwells570411 ай бұрын
I twist my new growth around my lock partially, while leaving some of the hair loose; then i take a dreadlock needle and stick through the loc grabbing the loose hair from the outside and pulling it inside the lock. Then i retwist the loc from there.

I am new in my journey, 1 year, I started with very short hair and decided to do loc extensions. After a year I realized after watching this video I had the same situation. I chose to use a combination of interlock and crochet while cutting off the extensionsas my hair grew out. It all depends on the particular lock and the amount of new growth which chose the technic I used. I wish I can let my hair grow out, but doing so would mean my lock would thin.
