During the past 2-1/2 years, I’ve lost 85 pounds without surgery, medication or paying for a membership or program. I eliminated ultra-processed foods, added sugars, and fast food. I followed Keto for six months and have since followed the Mediterranean diet for two years. No blood glucose monitor. No keto meters. I have semi-annual blood and urine tests. My HbA1c went from 6.3 to 5.1. My HDL, LDL and VLDL are within reference ranges. My triglycerides, fasting insulin and liver enzymes are well within reference ranges. I’ve educated myself by reading nutrition articles from the Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic and NIH. I watch a curated list of credible, academic KZbin channels. It doesn’t take willpower. It does require imagination and visualization to see a better way to eat. I got a jolt of inspiration from being diagnosed as pre-diabetic with non-alcoholic fatty liver and metabolic syndrome. I’m in my 60s. It is not too late to change.

@@RichardOwen-z9l Interesting. For me, it was a simple calculus. Eating high quality, minimally processed foods is more expensive than eating the standard American diet with ultra-processed food. The cost of remedial medical treatment is high - namely those to treat atherosclerosis, liver disease, etc. I am focused on healthspan…not lifespan. I don’t feel the need to pay to participate in a program. If they want to study me, I want them to pay me. 😂

I lost over 2 stone after wearing the glucose monitor and changing my diet as a result, probably out of fear rather than will power. I had no idea what I had been doing to myself. I have no desire to eat the food I used to eat now. Started to eat fermented food also. I feel so much better mentally and physically now. I thought I was just getting old. Thank you so much Zoe although those muffins almost killed me 🤮

I have been on the Zoe Nutrition plan for over 12 months now. I have been subscribed for some time but quite frustrated that, despite all the talk about ‘the Zoe program’ and the Zoe ‘advice’ I still am confused about specifically how to eat! Tim and Sarah often talk about how differently they eat but what do they have in common? Now you have the evidence of efficacy it is surely time to make the program more widely available to all of us frustrated and impatient people outside the UK/US. I would really appreciate more details and specifics on what works and what doesn’t for pretty much everyone.

Is it the nutritional advice or the checks and balances promoting adherence. We all consume things we know we shouldn't. Trying to stop this by yourself is difficult. Don't know about giving your information to business is the best. I guess if you don't have anyone in your life that is trying to get healthier, and you can discuss things, you may have to give your information to one of these things

I would like to have a clear comparison between strict adherence to healthy diet guidelines and strict adherence to a Zoe program. What is the benefit of *personalized* diet instructions and coaching (compared to a healthy diet without personalization)? How would Professor Tim Spector eat differently between 1. Knowing what he knows vs. 2. Having Zoe feedback on how to personalize his diet to himself?

My question was about examples and specific benefits of Zoe personalization that go beyond those general guidelines. If you know what they are, great.

If you want to know if the personalisation promised by Zoe works, you give everyone the same level of support, have people randomised into a Zoe personalised diet and a sham Zoe diet. Only then does the trial tell you anything about the “Zoe program“ per se. If you only want to find out whether having an app plus support system works, give only one group the support. Wouldn’t tell you much beyond “it’s helpful to have lots of support”, but still… What such a trial WOULDN’T tell you is whether the Zoe protocol as a whole works.

Glad you’re setting high standards regarding your study findings. Others should take note! The hiding or distortion of “unfavourable” outcomes / data…that could jeapordise a company’s future…and the (often very comfortable) livelihoods of those involved..should never happen and is morally reprehensible.

I think Zoe needs to put more emphasis on the “now” benefits. It’s great to hear about the risk reduction for your future self, but it’s not all “jam tomorrow”. Feeling more energetic, clear headed and happy means such a lot.
