This song loses alot of momentum after the beginning. Could you re write it? So it stays up beat and keeps that coastal flavor it seems to have.

Nailed it again! I was laughing out loud with delight just watching....going to be working on this one....by the way, P90 pickups used on a lot of iommi's work? I know the epiphone iommi signature guitar had customized gibson "iommi" pickups...I have a couple humbucker sized P90 pickups (Alnico V and Alnico2) that I'm thinking of putting in one of my SG's.... Thanks So Much!!!

Thanks, Jim! Glad you enjoyed the lesson. Classic Ozzy-era Iommi tone is coming from an overwound (maybe) / wax potted p90 in the bridge position. It started life as a stock p90 but was modified by John Birch.

This was great, Steve : you introduced me to the QUARTAL CHORD and B MINOR SCALE. Do you know if Iommi was "schooled" in both...? Or did he cook his tasty riffs straight from the can...? 😜
@DoesItDoom3 жыл бұрын
Iommi originally came from a blues and jazz background. He was a huge fan of Django Reinhardt (jazz) and played in a blues band called Mythology with Bill before they met Ozzy and Geezer to form Earth. Here is a cool live Mythology performance from the late 60's. They were clearly heavily influence by what Clapton was doing with John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers just a few years prior: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHPRhIeFZdZ7rpI

Tony used a Fender Strat on the first album. He was hesitant on using the Gibson SG until the Fender Strat had problems, he stuck with the SG then.
@DoesItDoom3 жыл бұрын
The Strat was only used on Wicked World. The rest of the album was done with his SG.
@lonewolf26083 жыл бұрын
@@DoesItDoom yes, I remember Tony's interview on Gibson Icons on YT he mentioned his Fender had problems, but knew it was on the first album. My memory is fuzzy, I thought it was the whole first album. Wicked World was very jazz influenced. If I remember right, Master of Reality was the first album he tuned down to C# because of his finger tips. And accidently, the birth of doom/stoner genre was born. Some say when they did Symptom of the Universe on Sabotage, it was the inception of thrash metal. Some say Rush started thrash on Necromancer on Caress of Steel. Same year, 1975.
