I think the hardest part about fostering would be when you have to find their forever home. I’d probably cry every single time when they left 😳😩
@MauiKeiki223 жыл бұрын
I'd for sure would be a foster failure. I found a sheltie on side of road, took him home, found owner (dog escaped from fireworks on 4th of July), was reluctantly able to surrender him. I was to foster for a new home but he got too attached to me so he become my shadow until he died at 14 yrs old. Because of him I become a sheltie lover and now have two more.

The foster mom of my adopted pup says when one of her fosters goes to their forever home it just makes room for the next poor little one that needs a soft place to land (it's a Yorkie rescue charity). I admire her for it but I couldn't do it, there would be soooo many foster fails on my part. Still text her pics and news about little Hannah Banana, our adventures and travels since she loves keeping up with her former fosters.

My mom, back when she was with wildlife rescue, would the majority of not all of the time adopt every animal she rescued that had special needs, though most of the time it was bad genetics like being stuck small forever or missing a part of their ankle but with ones like my fifth or sixth favorite cat of the household named one-eye(guess why... she has a scar on one of her eyes so she can’t see out of it) to where they still needed special care for harm that never heals then she makes an exception(one-eye’s been alive for like six or seven years, prolly more, and she still has that scar, don’t even know how she got it, it just now is less noticeable)

I think one of the biggest mistakes when people adopt a shelter pet is not taking the time and energy to acclimate their new little friend into their home. They then get returned. Animals that have suffered trauma need time to heal, and really feel safe before you see the real them. That is why I am so very grateful 🙏 to foster parents. They have such big hearts. God bless you guys. You really give these little furbabies a chance to find a loving forever home. I don't know how you do it. I would want to keep them all.
@carolirvine33673 жыл бұрын
Even without being abused it takes a dog months to really settle and relax, my dog came from a good home who just found him too much to cope with, I've had him 5 months and it feels like he is just getting over the trauma of being rehomed now.
@dementus4203 жыл бұрын
Yeah, shelter animals sometimes need months even of real heartfelt effort on our parts to get the great animal inside them to come to the surface. I've got a chocolate lab right now who had never been taught how to act and be part of a pack. He had no idea what his role was. He had never had anyone stand up to him and show him that there are a few rules and you have your place which is not the alpha. He even bit me one time when I made him get off the bed he had jumped up on. We didn't give up on him though. He's a totally different dog now and he knows how he fits in. He's the best family dog you can imagine and my kids love him. Thank you to all the people who don't give up on a dog.

It’s not just fur babies. This on the list below dogs and cats are parrots. I work with a parrot rescue and many parrots outlive their owners. Most are given up because the owners didn’t realize the required care attention and love these amazing creatures require. It’s hard to foster a tough case but it’s very very rewarding when you find a great forever home!

The people that put thumbs down are the people that would dump a dog on the side of the road.
@Huroprogramme3 жыл бұрын
No, they are the people who will not have dumped the dog a second time. What's the point of rescuing him for making a video, earning likes and dumping it again, be it to another "family"? Those videos are going around on KZbin, and are made for clicks and views. They aren't real nor they are ethical. If he loved the dog, he would have keep it. Plain and simple.
@tinarussell39693 жыл бұрын
@@Huroprogramme Boomer wasn't "dumped" again. The guy was fostering him. The idea was to get him healed physically and emotionally and learn how to live in a home, and to trust. He did his job and also found Boomer a forever home. I don't see that as a bad thing.
