There's never any shame in admitting you can't handle things financially and surrendering your animals to a good shelter. Surrendering an animal shows that you loved them and care about what happens to them. It's those who take their animals to kill auctions that should be ashamed. Selling them at auction shows the animal only meant as much as its monetary value to you.

Words cannot describe how infuriated I am to see these beautiful animals suffer so needlessly. Since I was a child, I have loved and wanted to be around horses. Unfortunately, I have never been in a financial position (or a good location) to own one. To see so many who suffer at the hands of negligent owners just brings me to tears. They have no idea how lucky they are or how many others long to be in a position to have the resources to afford such animals. It's all I've ever wanted and something I will never have. I hate the cruelty of it. I hate the irony that horses are tossed like trash when someone like me would do anything to have and love one. Maybe in another life, I will afford to live with these wonderful creatures and give at least one the most wonderful of lives. It's just not fair when I have so much love and respect to give.

Ever since I first rode a horse at 5, having one of my own has been a dream of mine, and that dream hasn't left me in the nearly 30 years since that day. I have never had the money nor land to keep one. And it tears at my heart to see these beautiful souls being shipped off to be slaughtered. These are living, feeling creatures that have known love from humans. How can their owners treat them like trash?

@@DragonFae16 Hi! Look for stables in your area, look at 4-H clubs. Volunteer, read books about horses and their care. My first lecture to a pony club was about parasites! People with horses, many times will trade taking care of their horse and shoveling stalls. Being around a barn and beasties is a wonderful feeling. Look for those opportunities and Voluenteer to help, just to be around the animals! Good Luck. I got my last horse at 45, after not having one since 1976, after voluteering, and working at stables.Have fun!

If you’re looking for creative input, as most people who watch your channel do so because they love horses, you could spend some time filming the rescue horses while they go about their lives in the pasture, and do a voice over telling us their stories ( how they’re progressing, what issues they seem to have, how they’re being managed)

I think of this all the time. Every time another bunch come in. At one point that animal was loved and cared for. It was a foal with his mom. Now they are being thrown away for a few dollars. Disgusting human beings. At least they have Horse Plus to make their leaving a proper farewell. They were loved once again.

I had forgotten that back east 85 degrees feels like 120 with the humidity. I live in the desert now and you forget about that. 85 here feels much cooler because it’s so dry. I feel for everyone at Horse Plus truly. You need more fans guys!! Or maybe a portable swamp cooler. ❤️❤️❤️

I lived on Leonard Brumley’s farm in Hohenwald for a summer in 1973. It was one of my fondest memories. Everyone treated me so well. At that time there was what we called a “hippy farm” next door. We went fishing and hunting on a river that ran through the woods there. Quite an experience. Now I live in the high desert of Arizona where horses are plentiful and I have been in love with them all my life. Thanks for what ya’ll do for these magnificent creatures.

Horses and other equines can adapt very well to being blind. Horse plus even has a lady who regularly adopts blind horses etc

Most horses and ponies get used to being blind. I remember reading a story where a blind broodmare was at a racing stable. She had a tarmac around the fences and trough’s. She literally tore up the ground galloping around and never hit anything with the tarmac warning her. And when someone caught her she would rest her head on the groom’s shoulder so she could tell from the way he moved his arm what was going on. They even had a bell around the foals neck so she could tell where it was. Amazing and true story.

Just like a blind human, they are smart and if they are worked with they depend on their rider to be their eyes, when in a pasture another animal like another horse or whatever works best for the horse will be the eyed, its no different than a human using a seeing eye dog to get arounf

I want to thank Horse Plus because you have given me a solution that I should have thought of, but did not. I am a novice Miniature horse rescuer to two minis. They are pretty green and though I have been combing them; that winter hair just will not release. Stupid or ignorant me did not even think about using my Scottie's hair trimmers to aid me in removing the unsightly and hot winter mats. Thank you so very much. Horse owner since 1976 and currently with 3 horses, 2 minis, 2 donkeys, 2 IW's, 1 Great Dane, a beautiful Heinz 57 and the BOSS of all of us is our Scottie (rat, snake and skunk killer extraordinaire), Duncan MacGregor the Black. I check y'all's KZbin channel daily; heartened by the love and dedication you extend to our animal companions who have fallen on difficult times. Bless you all.

Had a dog pop an eye 25yrs ago. Covered my eyes until I knew the coast was clear. My dog was fine, handled it like a champ and had no issues adjusting to life with one eye. It got popped by some mean boys who were walking home from school and lived in my neighborhood. I couldn't chase them down because my 1st priority was my dog. They never passed my house again. I sat outside every morning and afternoon watching for them.

I saw a procedure on television where they put chemo pellets into the tumor on the eye and the chemo pellets killed the tumor but the horse was able to keep its eye!

I had a 15 year old Grey Arab that had a tumor much larger than that one that the vet said she wanted to either euthanize the horse or remove the eye. The horse had limited vision in her other eye from an injury before I got her. I stalled and said I wanted to do some research first. Read where horse grains are actually causing problems in horses so I pulled her off of all grains and strictly hay and pasture diet. Within six months that tumor completely shrank away. She remained tumor free until she had a stroke 5 years ago and had to go on a processed feed mush due to not being able to chew, they slowly started coming back, but she didn't need to be put down until this summer at the age of 37, and that was mostly because of muscle atrophy due to the stroke that was causing leg issues.

The eye thing..first time..it gets better. Im going from janitor at resthome to resident aide to cna.. i could clean poo off a toilet etc.. ( mix with baking soda it turns like clumping kitty litter. Peppermint in my mask..but diapers.. omg awful but the more i was " exposed" the more i could " deal" with it. One scrape on thin skin..tons of blood..( ugh i cant do it..now since ive been around it more.. im getting better with it. Hope that makes sense? The more you are exposed the better you " deal" with it.

I have to look up so many horse terms: “Proud cut,” “Proud flesh”. Is Jukebox going to get treatment to correct his situation so he can be adopted out again? We have a make Siamese cat with similar problems to Jukebox. Vet called it being a “Super Tom” which means that despite being properly neutered, he still has significant amounts of testosterone in his system. As he’s gotten older he’s settled down. Still wants to fight an intact male cat who hangs around, but he doesn’t bother his sister like he used to.

He’s a proud cut, meaning when he was gelded he had enough of his testical left that it left him with stallion like behavior. Or a non gelded horse. Not a huge issue usually, but he’s very aggressive towards mares from what it sounds like. Stallions can get very protective about mares, even around geldings and will be aggressive because of them perceiving that they’re protecting their herd from gelding’s when really there’s no issues.

It means all or part of the testis remained after being castrated...either from a poor castration, a cryptorchid (one testicle remains in the body cavity while the other is descended into the testicular sack), or just castrated before both testis descended. Man......I just type "testis" a LOT. I feel weird now. LOL!!! 🤣🤣🤣

@@DebbieHollandNZ No problem!!! I used to help with castrations when our vet would come out. I LLLOOOVVEEDD helping with vet stuff!!! I worked at a VERY large breeding/showing barn, so I got a lot of experience with the people who contribute to the overpopulation of horses in this country. I am ashamed that I contributed to the problem, but I did get a lot of good experience and learned A LOT about how I never want to run a farm!!! In fact, I'm almost 100% positive that the pony they got in the last auction, Joey, is from the farm I worked at........and IF he is, he is registered with the American Hackney Horse Society (AHHS)as Regal's Broadway Joe LF. If you look him up, click on the blue words "Registry Records" right next to his name and it will show you a written record of his markings as a foal.......they match almost identically!!!!
