I feel so bad for pit bulls because they are that one dog that is extremely stereotyped. They are such sweet dogs! My neighbor had one and they would tie him up on a chain leash with no water and I would go back there and cuddle with him and then ask where his water bowl was because I felt so bad. But he ended up at the kids uncles house and ran away. But I love pitties so much and wish people would treat them like any other dog because there is literally NOTHING wrong with them!! Send love to pitties!

"Adopting an adult pitbull is still dangerous because you don't know" You should get to know ANY dog before you adopt them. Like adopting a child, you don't just go in and say "Give me whoever the 5th one is". When I adopted my dogs, they had me fill out a questionaire to determine if we were the fit. Where will he be sleeping? What other animals do you have? Some dogs do better in a house with other pets, some do better as a lone dog. Etc. And meeting with the dog, walking him around or playing with him a bit and wait to be approved to adopt him. Not a long wait, but you couldn't just walk in and say "I'll take that one".

Those type of dogs are mainly aggressive when treated horribly or not cared for, which yes, because they turn to violence so easily makes them aggressive dogs BUT the majority of that breed of dog will never actually become aggressive if you treated them with TLC to begin with! So it’s stupid people automatically assume they are aggressive and will bite you. I mean your not supposed to touch dogs without permission anyway cuz any breed of dog could still bite you or be aggressive.

At 9 months old, he weighed 75lbs & was a big boy. (Was very lean, not overweight. Just was a *_big_* boy!) He intimidated everyone and everyone was scared of him because of his breed & size. But we would reassure people that he just wanted attention, to be petted, give them a kiss. Some people would trust us and pet him, others still feared him. Unfortunately Jan 30, 2014 we were in a house fire and lost everything. He was sick at the time with a very low immune system. Him inhaling all the smoke, he suffered carbon monoxide poisoning (I believe that is what the vet said.) We lost him at only 13 months old. 😭😭😭 RIP Trouble 😢💔🐕

Mona Taylor - well said! He might have been neglected or abused himself, which would affect his development, emotional capacity and behaviours.. Of course we can't know his life story, and I am in no way trying to excuse his behaviour.. But it's worth remembering that there are usually reasons behind why young people turn out one way or another.. of course there are exceptions as well as survivors of abuse who get past it and don't abuse others.. But statistically it's more likely than not, that this boy grew up in a rough, unsafe, unloving, violent environment and he's just replicating what he knows.. Ultimately, the source of the existence of irresponsible dog owners are irresponsible parents and wider societal problems perpetuating inter-generational cycles of deprivation and abuse, which creates messed-up people, who are usually insecure and feel unsafe and try to compensate with violence.. As a society we should address the root causes for messed up people who are likely to become bad pet owners. We need educational initiatives and better social services to support and educate families, and intervene if needs be, to protect children from neglect, physical & emotional abuse, in order to prevent them from growing up to be neglectful /abusive parents and dog owners!
@Here_Today_6 жыл бұрын
Czadzikable yes, it's incumbent upon the whole to break the cycle. No small feat to be sure!
@michaelcoulter11146 жыл бұрын
Czadzikable I'm not trying to be mean, or to say that what you're saying can never be true - because it often is, as sad as that is for me. But abuse does not mean abuser! Without any exaggeration, my childhood was as bad as it gets. I, and my sisters, were abused every way children could be, and we were forced to witness the abuse my Mom suffered through, too. This was in the early 70's in Canada, and unless the police witnessed an assault, they wouldn't arrest abusers. It's crazy, they would come to the house, see a woman who looked like she had been in a car crash, and a child who looked only slightly better, and advise my Mom to leave, because they didn't see my dad hitting us. Sorry, my point is that I have never abused an animal, a child or a woman, and I NEVER will! I think that abuse victims who become abusers later in life were just weak to begin with, and identified with the abuser because they wanted to feel powerful. I hated my dad, and was ashamed that I couldn't protect my Mom - I was 6 or 7, and he would have killed me if I had tried - if I fought back, he would try to injure me, to teach me a lesson, which would lead to my Mom, all 105 pounds of her, getting in between my father and I, to protect me. It's funny, years later I was able to protect her, when she finally divorced him, and I looked at this snarling monster that had always been my greatest fear, and realized that I was stronger than him, bigger than he was, and didn't need to be afraid of him any more. I started laughing at him, and he looked at me, puzzled, like "what's going on? This always used to work!". I've never been that scared again! I'm sorry, this went much longer than I meant it to, I just wanted to tell any young person who hasn't chosen their path yet to choose the path a real Man walks! Men protect! Men defend, nurture, and love. Be a MAN, not a scared little boy who wants to feel power! The rewards are worth it!

I hate it when people judge dogs by looks. The dog can be the sweetest lover boy yet have a scary face but that doesn’t mean he will bite. And just because a dog has a happy or poor dog face doesn’t mean he will not bite, I have had many people circling around me looking fiercely at my dog and then trying to stoke him because he looked sad but boy were they wrong when he lunged at them. Also a lot of kids think getting a pitbull as their first dog is a great idea it’s not. This needs to be shown on every TV station in the UK. These dogs are NOT killers. Any dog can turn on someone. It’s all depending on how the human raises them. We have a similar negative situation with pit bulls in the US. No matter how much I tried to convince my mom the dogs were no different from any other breeds, she still didn’t believe me. It wasn’t until my sister adopted a pit bull puppy did my mom FINALLY see the truth- they can be the absolute sweetest dogs when raised by a caring owner.

Some dogs you can't even raise to be aggressive, which is the irony here...

Metal Wolf Gemstone Liked😎your comment! Absolutely! Well said! Pit bulls are sweet n loyal dogs. Sadly, they're also a strong breed, that's designed to please, it's owner. This makes them a #1 dog with, unscrupulous people. People who use n abuse, these beautful, loving n loyal dog's, for evil purposes. Around the turn of the century, in the UK. they were called, Nanny dog's. They were bred, to be companions, to the children n helpers, to the Nannies, in charge. It's True! There's nothing evil or dangerous, about the breed. It's back yard breeders and unscrupulous people, with bad intent, that has destroyed, the rep n image, of the breed. The problem lie's within, Nature vs Nuture. How the dog is bred, raised n treated. That makes a difference. tc

Lions are wild animals that live in prides. By nature, they hunt and kill for survival. Dogs have been associated with humanity for thousands of years to be used for herding or hunting. In other words, dogs are more dependent on us for survival than a lion.

Stop saying pit bulls are aggressive by nature! They are only that way when forced or abused. They are just like any other dog! Now i don't see anyone complaining about owning German shepherds and people train them to be mean too! Also stop comparing them to lions, it makes no sense.

In my country and all over the world, so many dogs are abused because men and boys want a tough, mean dog. They think it will make them feel more masculine and earn them respect from other men. It's so wrong. Being violent toward animals doesn't make you a "real man", it makes you a weak, pathetic loser who abuses others to make yourself feel powerful. It takes real strength to be caring and gentle.

Dogs are like kids, you get out what you put in. You have a child and act like a jerk to them and train them to be a jerk, of course you’re going to get a jerk. You show love and patience to a dog or child and it is the start of something beautiful and will last forever. Love always win over nasty and hateful.

Why are people here so ignorant when it comes to facts and information? All this stigma comes from the media and is solely based on BAD OWNERS, there's no such thing as a BAD DOG. A dog is no different then a child, raise them properly and you won't have a problem, teach them violence or to be unsociable and that's what you will get. The so called Law has decided for us that an entire dog breed is evil and that's that...really makes my blood boil.

zombu But the only reason that is the case is because dogs such as pit bulls are abused and forced to fight by terrible owners who want an "aggressive" or "scary" dog. In reality, if a pit bull puppy is given the same love and care from a young age as any other dog breed, the dog grows up to be just as happy (and no more likely to attack) than any other breed.

Sadly, with the amount of ignorance people carry, some will never realise that there is no such thing as an agressive breed. ANY dog can be agressive if it's TRAINED and RAISED that way. My neighbours used to have a small cocker spaniel/beagle mix, it was about the size of a cat, and it was more agressive than the doberman that our other neighbours had, because they trained it to be agressive. Pitties are naturally one of the gentlest and loving dogs.
@Razzy13126 жыл бұрын
Bollocks. You're denying thousands of years of selective breeding. Breeds tend to have certain traits because we bred them that way. How you raise and train the dog determines that dogs disposition far more than breed, but to deny the impact of selective breeding is just being purposefully naive.
@faris77655 жыл бұрын
Razzy1312 What you say are valid points. Pitbulls were made to fight, it even says it in their name. Yet you say that they are “The most loving.” You obviously have no sense of realism- and no matter how much you train them. They will have some aggresiveness in them.
@Nibbarese75 жыл бұрын
@@faris7765 i'm sorry but you have to get informed more, it's clear that you just speak out what other people told not knowing anything, pit bulls are the most loving dogs, used all around the world for dog therapy. Squarenix You have no clue what you’re talking about. Even the original Bull and Terrier stock bred out any human aggressiveness centuries ago.
