Thanks for the explanation and congratulations to you and the dogs for a great week-end. You have a beautiful granddaughter and you must be happy to see her getting involved in showing. You don't look old enough to have a granddaughter old enough to be able to show dogs! It looks like fun, but none of my three are eligible for the ring (one's a mixed breed, one's a breed not recognized by the AKC, and none of them would be considered "show quality" due to "faults" and they're all altered, but we love them just the same).

I love all your videos but the dog show coverage & info videos are usually my favorites. Congrats on all the successes in the recent show! Jamba wasn't a good boy in the ring?? Shocking; maybe you could do a separate video called "bad boy, Jamba" and show us some footage? So glad the handsome boy got more points anyway & that Apple & Bella got some well deserved recognition too.

I couldn't record the video, because I was handling him in the ring. To be fair to Jamba, Bella has been in season, and he caught her scent on my clothing. That will drive a good stud dog crazy.

Thank you for explaining points though I couldn’t pass an exam on them yet. Glad to know Jamba is working on his Grand Championship. Will he become a stud then? Actually I’m looking forward to puppies in the future. They are a lot of work for you, but watching them is a treat.

Actually, Jamba is already a stud dog. He was bred to a girl owned by a local Cavalier friend - if all goes well, he could be a daddy some time in November.

Love watching your beautiful dogs and seeing the different personalities. We have a 2 1/2 yr old tricks color cavalier and we're so in love with her even though she can be very stubborn. Is this just her personality or a trait of King Charles Cavaliers? I've never heard it mentioned.

I have an adorable cavi named Leo, he's the cutest, but he's also strong willed so he wouldn't be obedient at a dog show unfortunately. He also gets jealous if people give attention to other dogs. But we love just love him to pieces!

Hi! Quick question. Have you noticed different personality traits in your cavaliers based on their color? I often hear comments that tricolor cavs are more emotional, sweet, and smart, whereas blanheim cavs are more aloof and playful. Thanks!!!

There are lots of Cavalier people who swear by those characterizations, but I'm not one of them. There are many variations in their personalities and temperaments, but I don't see any connection with color. Perhaps some breeders feel this way because they see a ruby puppy with the same characteristics as another ruby they had. But it's much more likely that it's because the puppy inherited those characteristics from its ancestors, who are the older rubies the breeder remembers. I believe that personality traits are genetically passed on, but not associated with coat color.

I'm afraid I have zero experience in this area. Cavaliers are not generally affected, as it affects mainly short-legged breeds. Also, my own preference leans toward Cavaliers with sufficient leg length to move properly, so I have not bred any dogs with shorter legs than normal.
